Any snowtubing experts?

We live near a few places to go snowtubing, but have only ever gone twice. Both times the weather was in the 30's. We were cold, of course, but enjoyed it very much.

Today my DD10 was invited to go with a friend. It is BITTER cold here today. Temps will be in the teens tonight while they are there. Sounds silly, but I was wondering if that will be too cold??

Would you bundle your kid up and send them or try to reschedule for a time when it wasnt soooooo cold?

I'd bundle them up and send them off. We used to ski when it was that cold so I can't imagine tubing would be much different. Just make sure they have face mask type hats or a hat and scarf that can be wound up so there isn't too much skin showing.

Around here the slopes close if it is in the 30's because they are too sticky . Kids don't feel the cold in the same way. If necessary send them with a turtleneck scarf--do NOT send a regular scarf as they can get caught in the tow ropes. I would have them wear long underwear, sweatpants, snowpants on the bottom. A t-shirt, turtle neck and sweatshirt and jacket on top. They will be just fine.

Bitter cold is what we have had -20 degrees or colder, teens are "warm" for winter for us.

I lived in Winnipeg (one of the coldest major cities in Canada) for awhile when I was a child. I remember days where it was -30F... and my mom would bundle us up and take us to the park and then STAND THERE (brrrrrr!) for hours while we tobogganed.

Just make sure she has warm mittens and a hat and scarf and she'll be fine.

The best time I had tubing was in the snow. I just adds something to have the snow in your face as you are going down

Bundle up and skip the scarf.

Go buy some of the little hot pack things you put in boots and mittens. The ones you shake or just open to activate. They are cheap and they last about 6 hours. They can really make the difference in tolerating it or being great.

Layers are your friend and mittens are much better and warmer than gloves. keep her feet warm if they are warm she'll be fine.

My DS 12 just spent the day from 7:30 to 3 outside at a Boy Scout thing and the Temps started in the single digits and didn't hit the low teens till after lunch and he was fine. Did put the warmer things in his boots late morning cause he had a station he was monitoring that he had to stand in one spot on the ice for a long time.

Funny we just went to Round Top in Pa yesterday to snow tube, it was around 19 degrees but we were not cold at all and had a great time, they had signs up about long scarfs and also long hair but did not see them warn anyone who was wearing them.

Around here, they wont let you go tubing or skiing or whatever if your wearing a scarf or bag or anything that could get caught on something...

haha the teens just let the kid go Up here we would go tubing in -30 you just bundle up and have a blast... you get into the fun so much you dont notice the cold (until you come in) but thats when you have hot chocolatE!
