We've had Sky multiroom for years and for ages I have wanted to upgrade to Sky+, but the cost has always put me off. If you are an existing Sky customer (without Multiroom), you could upgrade to Sky+ with Multiroom for £89, but if you were existing Sky Multiroom customer, you had to pay £199 to upgrade to Sky+.
Despite numerous conversations with Sky, they would not agree to let me have for £89 in recognition of the years I have had multiroom.
Suddenly a wat around it dawned on me, I arranged to have Sky+ with multiroom on the internet for £89, and then they day before the installation I cancelled my existing multiroom subscription over the phone. As it was not my main subscription it was cancelled immediately.
The quote from the person at Sky when I cancelled was - "whilst we don't want to advertise that you can do this, there is nothing we can do to stop you".
So there you go, a way of saving yourself £100 plus on the deal.
Only a couple of things to watch, you need to have had your existing multiroom subscription for 12 months or more (to allow you to cancel) and you are then tied into a fresh 12 month contract from Sky+ Multiroom.
I've just tried looking on the Sky website to see if the prices are still the same, but cannot find anything about upgrading for existing customers - just keeps going round in circles, so it may be that they've spotted the loophole, but don't see how it will help them. I went through my contract paperwork a number of times before doing it, and there is nothing in any of the small print which states that you can't do it.
Just thought I'd share this.
