Any September guests received FP+ testing invite?

For all those that have been able to customize magicbands, were you able to select your pin during the customization process?

I have a friend that customized bands but nothing came up about the pin, just wondering if that is the norm.

I don't remember! I don't think so.

That's when I did it, online checkin, but now I can't remember what it is! If I still don't remember when i get there do you think I can change it @ the front desk?

I am so sick about this whole FP+ fiasco. Unfortunately my first trip to Disney and I picked the "wrong" resort to visit (Boardwalk in September). It seems from some of the posts like SB lines are crazy long due to all the people quadruple dipping with FP+ glitches. I hate the idea of being a 2nd tier guest and not having the same access to attractions that others will have even though I paid the same or probably more. People gloating about gaming the system and causing the unwashed masses to wait even longer while they ride an attraction 5x in a row should be ashamed of how selfish they are and the lessons they are teaching their children.

Between this and the GAC abuse, I am betting my wife and I will be the only people waiting in SB lines. Not feeling the magic and would be booking another trip were it not for the sunk costs of this one. If I could get refunds for the 10 day park hopper tickets, tours, and prepaid meals like the Hoop De Doo, I would cancel and take another cruise. While the mouse is making me feel like a 2nd class citizen, Royal Caribbean has always treated me like gold no matter how much I paid for my cabin or where it was located.

Sad thing is I was so looking forward to this long planned trip now I am just annoyed and feeling like I am being taken advantage of.

If it makes you feel any better if I'm invited to test I'm not going to double dip! I wanna experience fp+ for what it supposed to be!

You won't be alone:)) we aren't at a testing resort either. We were there in January and some lines were crazy as they were testing fast pass- hoping its not like that this time.

Sounds like a win to me! :dance3:

We just came home to a Fed Ex envelope on our front porch with a FP+ invite in it from Disney Destinations!! Kids are thrilled!! About to go customize now. We are at AofA Sept 3-9th! :cool1:

Hi everyone!

A few things... We are staying Beach Club Villlas 9/20-9/27. I went online and booked our FP+ so we are part of the test! We are paying cash, not DVC members or renting. So, it's probably safe to say cash-paying BCV are included.

Also, I found it fairly easy to copy the FP+ reservations we made to our family on another reservation. There was only 1 time that didn't match and their times are only 5 minutes later than ours.

Question - how have you been able to customize your bands? Online check-in and then it becomes available?

Thanks!

Don't worry - when I did beta testing of FP+ last December, we didn't have time for any more FPs than the ones we already had scheduled through FP+. It would be an exhausting challenge to balance that many passes, I don't think Disney would have left it open if it was going to throw lines off that badly.

Also keep in mind that the people using FP+ are being more controlled by Disney in terms of where/when they can use their fastpasses. This is for crowd control and line control. You won't be set on 'Disney's clock' like those using FP+.

I also have a Sept trip at POFQ so I was not chosen for testing this time around. I'm a bit disappointed, but I know by the time I come next time, the kinks will be worked out for us :)

We tend to get lost in our fandom base on forums like this and need to remember MOST of the park guests around you when you are in the parks still have no clue what MyMagic is.

Well put:) we are pofq as well from 8-30/9-7 so we are not eligible. However, looking on the bright side- we booked bounce back with free dining and are at a resort we love- plus it's Vacation!

I feel a bit cheated, too. Our resort was not chosen either and we are 15 days out. I am a big planner and would loved to have tried this. Maybe next time. We will be in the SB lines too.

Well I jumped for it. Wasn't going to do online-checkin and was hoping to miss the whole MM+/FP+ thing until the earth settles in a couple of years.

But then Poly was added to the test, fastpass+ availability came up, and things got turned on their head.

Couldn't NOT pick FP+, since I was eligible and so many people will be using it while there. Hate the idea of the band - just seems too fiddly! But I was concerned about not customizing and ordering it ahead of time possibly causing problems later. SOOO I decided to go ahead and do online-checkin so that I could get access to the Bands and do what Disney expects me to do to hopefully ensure things go as smoothly as possible.

Frankly, I don't expect to really use the FP+ much since there's no possible way to anticipate attraction flow / touring plan without knowing real-time crowd data... and other variables like unexpected hunger, smells, travel delays, etc. So, really happy to still have access to regular FP.

I have to say that the trip lost a bit of magic/anticipation when I started thinking about being at particular attractions at particular times on particular days.

I moved a couple of our plans around so that we could fit in ROE and Fantasmic via FP+, but when it comes down to it, I might change the schedule back and just not bother with FP+.

I guess that's the good thing about it still being a test - we have options. We just need to remember to answer their survey questions as if regular fastpass was gone!

When is your trip? September is the slowest month of the year to go. Last year the majority of rides were 10 mins or less if not walk ons. We are part of the FP+ we are using it to meet characters, Illuminations and Fantasmic. Disney allots 3 FPs per day at 1 park, if you park hop you only get them at 1 park. Still nothing compared to Universals FOTL, now that's amazing but they only have 3 hotels where Disney has about 20.
Don't let FP+ ruin your trip, sounds like you have a great trip planned. We love HDDR, everyone likes something different some of us go for the food, some of us love the show, one of us loves the unlimited beer...we all have such a great time. It's corny but we laugh up a storm.

As far as GAC abuse I believe in Karma and chancing the fates. If you put it out there, you are inviting it in. I was late to work once overslept, lied said a flat tire, the next week when about to leave to meet friends for dinner. Low and behold I had a flat, never lied about it again. Never lied about my kids being sick. I just don't chance the fates.

I hope you have a great trip! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that FP+ doesn't disrupt your trip at all.
The majority of the massesSpace Mountain.

Lurch I feel your pain. How sad is it that you will be staying at a deluxe resort and just because it isn't part of the"test" you feel like you're vacation us going to suck basically. I an staying poly and it looks like I miss out by one lousy day. That's my luck. Always a day late and a dollar short. I should be happy to be staying at the poly. I wouldn't even use the fp+ probably. There really isn't too many crowds when we go. It's just sad what this crazy testing phase is doing to us DIS planners.

Let me get this straight. You're staying at Poly (I've always wanted to check it out but I can't afford it). You'll have access to FP like you always did. And you probably wouldn't have used FP+ anyway even if you got it.

And you feel like your vacation is going to suck because you aren't part of a test you wouldn't participate in anyway?

I'm sorry if I'm missing something.

If it makes any deluxe resort goers feel any better, I'll trade my Magicbands and all my FP+ for your Contemporary or Poly or GF room. We can swap straight up.

I think the perceived negative effects of people using fp+ is greatly over blown, especially for the month of September.
There are only a handful of resorts participating in the tests. A small number compared to the amount of people visiting from a non-Disney or in a non- participating Disney hotel. Take all these people using them and spread them out amongst 6 parks, downtown Disney, there respective resorts, and other area attractions and the number is less.

Also, I imagine 95% of the people going to be their in September do not even know about it yet, and may not find out about it until they arrive. And even at that point may not care. Not to mention if this holds true to Disney statistics that say only 30% of people using Disney use fastpasses then the number is even less.

Are there people who will try to abuse the system? Absolutely! But why should what there doing affect you. I'll agree it's irritating when people use loopholes to exploit the system with no regard to others, but let Disney handle that. I am sure they are aware.

And did I mention it's September. Ride queues are among the shortest they all year. For a lot there will not be a need to even use one and I expect in some cases the fastpass queue will be longer.

For those who are saying this has ruined there vacation, I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. No one knew that this was going to be occurring, and there was no way to plan months ago to be part of this. When I planned my vacation months ago, I didn't build my vacation around the notion I may get selected for a Disney test I knew nothing about. I planned it the best I could for me and my family and whatever else happened was cherry on top. I planned everything I could to make it the best I could. And despite whatever else I am just as happy today as I was 6 months ago. Because I am getting exactly what I paid and planned for

The thing that kills me is that obviously in some way you are privileged enough to be able go to Disney world. Something many people dream of and never get to. (Myself included for most of my life) and then get bent out of shape because Bob and family at the POP got to ride a few rides more then them, or gets a slightly better view of the evening fireworks, because of a test they are doing, that they obviously have reasons for not doing a full scale deployment of yet. I don't get it.

Does it suck to feel left out? Absolutely! But it shouldn't ruin your vacation.

I feel a bit cheated as we are at POR and arrive Sept 2 and the bands/FP+ start Sept 3. I was hoping to get one so that we could book the FP+ and save my hubby a few steps. But I have to move on so that I can have a great vacation
