Any Security/Bag Check tips?

So is it that security is just really slow, or is it that there are that many people there for EMH? Is everyone going to Radiator Racers? My plan is to "race" with everyone to that ride, and then pull a FP for it afterwards. I think I have to wait until 9 though to pull a FP?

Do people still do the "wide right" strategy for RSR? I understood that there's a rope drop and they walk you back. Do they still do this, and is it only on non-EMH days?

The wide right strategy is for when there's a rope drop. The CMs walk you back behind the rope, and apparently it's best to be as far to the right as you possibly can, because they end up single-filing you starting from the right side of the rope, and that gets you closer to the front of the queue.

Curious, having never tried it; since we don't stay on site, we don't have EMH.

Have your bags open before you get to the front of the line!
It always amazes me when people get up there, and seem surprised that they have to take off the backpack, empty the stroller basket, open the purse, etc. So many people are VERY unprepared when they get to the table!
Then they argue with the security folks. "Why do I have to let you see inside my bag?" etc...on and on. Really people? We all have to do it, let's just make it easier for everybody.
I try to make it as easy as possible. Every single zipper unzipped, etc.
GET THERE EARLY! On our last trip in February, the security lines were the absolute longest I have ever seen at any time of year.
Patience is a very good thing at these times.

Besides Starbucks, you can also get breakfast at La Brea Bakery, and that is pretty close to the security check.

You got good advice. I usually only get to security about 15 minutes early and never wait more than a minute or two. The usually puts me about 10 people back in line to get in. And I would really, really advise that you do toy story and California screamin first thing in the morning and then ride RSR and then get a fast pass to ride later with the aim to get one for night time. You can finish those two rides within a half an hour if you do them during EMH because no one goes that direction. You should still be able to beat the regular entry crowd for RSR doing it this way.

Last weekend, the security lines on the DTD side of the esplanade were always short. More staffing than prior visits.

The lines to enter DL seemed to randomly get very long, even with most gates open. Ticket scanners would "freeze" for 30 seconds or more, which could be just a technical issue (or a deliberate way to smooth crowd flow inside the entrance).

You guys are amazing. I feel like I am training for an event and you are all my coaches! I always thought going to RSR first was a given. But I am now leaning towards ToT and Toy story first. I like the idea of heading away from the masses! I used to be a pro at the FP- at WDW. But now I am so used to FP+! I feel like my paper FP skills are rusty!
