Any schools have fall break second week of october?

We went last year, on our fall break and it was busy. We live in AZ and there was alot of guests from Az. Disney even kept DCA open and hour later, due to all the crowds.

Up here in western Canada there are many schools with that week off and considering it is Thanksgiving here as well, I would think it won't be a 1 out of 10 by any stretch, I don't think a 1 exists anymore to be honest.

The entire state of Utah has the second half of the third week off, October 16-18.

We were there two years ago during the Arizona fall breaks. The busiest day that week by far was Monday, Columbus Day. The park wasn't a ghost town by any stretch, but the crowds were extremely manageable and line waits weren't bad at all. I was expecting much worse than it was. Many rides were walk-ons, and we had no problems getting FPs for the rest.

I agree--there's no way,(in my opinion) that Touring Plans can possibly be correct in predicting a 1 out 10 for that time:sad2:!

We'll be there the 7th thru 10th. I did plan this trip around touring plans info. So I hope they are right. Although they keep raising crowd levels at DCA. It's our fall break here in the south. Most folks here are heading to the World.

I'm thinking the crowds won't be bad because that's a week not blacked out for the so cal select cheapie AP. I think even though we will all be there it won't be like summer or Xmas/New Years. We are going Oct 7,8,9,10. We live in southern CA and will be getting the pass just for this trip. I'm definitely doing early hours each day though just in case.

Lots of Arizona is off Oct. 7-11th. But it is still better than summer or around Christmas ;)

The schools in Utah have different fall breaks but they are all around that time, we live the Alpine district and our break is Oct 10th-14th, and yes LOTS and LOTS of people go to Disney for fall break.

We live in Hawaii, and we are going that week too! Seems to be a popular idea! :)

I've even hard it called something strange. Utah Escapes to Anaheim week or something, right? lol

It's called Utah Escapes to Anaheim because years ago the fall break resulted because of the annual UEA convention, or Utah Educators Associaton Convention. Naturally the name evolved, because that's where all the out of school kids headed :-)

fewer and fewer schools in CA are doing Fall Break, (I am speaking as a teacher of 12 years), it makes students either start really early or stay later in the school year and a lot of schools are trying to associate their yearly schedules with that of the colleges.

I am in the Northern LA area and we don't have any fall breaks here.

Funny, my experience is just the opposite. I grew up in the area my kids are now attending school and we didn't have a fall break. My kids now do have a fall break, as do the surrounding districts. They're also starting way earlier than I did as a kid. We started after labor day, and now all the local districts are starting mid August.

School districts in our area in NorCal do not have fall break, but my brother's kids get a break the second week and they are Modesto area.

We get an extra long winter break instead. My kids are out of school until Jan 13th for winter break, so guess when we are going?! January 8-12!! :cool1:

My son is out 12/20 to Jan 13th. We are going on DCL Jan 4-11 because thats considered off season. Woot!

I WISH we could go that long, but DH can't take more time off! We usually try to go that week because the crowds are so low! We usually run into people from our area too, as many of us try to take advantage of that extra week off. Some go to Tahoe. Others go to Disneyland!

My DS's school here in Northern California has one day off (the Monday) for that second week of October. We are meeting my DNeph from Hawaii in Utah for some hiking, so it should be nice and empty from the sounds of it! :rotfl:

My DS's school takes off the whole week of Thanksgiving and has half days the entire week prior to Turkey day, so I guess you could call that their fall break.

School breaks seem to vary a lot in our county. I work 15 minutes away and their school started 2 weeks later and has a completely different break schedule than our school, and 20 minutes in the opposite direction where our friends' kids go is another schedule entirely, so its been tough trying to coordinate our upcoming DLR long weekends to all the kids being off different days, and not running into something like a universal holiday with high crowds like Presidents day weekend.

Hopefully we should miss most of the Fall breaks as we go home on 3rd October.

I think it is good that US breaks (we call them all holidays) are staggered like this. In the UK all schools pretty much have the same holidays and it's a nightmare - makes flight prices so expensive in that time. Only difference really is that in Scotland summer hols start and finish earlier than in England.

So far, schools that have fall breaks are Hawaii, Arizona, Utah, and No. Cal, not too bad.

edit: In Canada it's thanksgiving that week...did not know that.
