ANY Rumors/tidbits at all for Fall

My question is... for those who NEED a discount, book now to "lock-in" possibly killing the chance of a discount even being offered, or book after a discount comes out taking a chance that your resort might not be available. I'm totally on the fence with this one... however we are not booked at the moment.

IF you aren't going to stay on-site unless there is a discount...don't bother to book. It won't "lock in" a room for you. Unless a certain # of rooms are available at a resort, they won't even give you a discount. In fact, should the discount come out, you may find you can't get it for certain resorts even though rooms are available. (This is nothing new as we saw this same thing back in 2007.)

The ONLY other good reason to have done this would have been before the ticket prices went up. If you booked before the prices went up, and then got a discount afterwards, even having to change resorts, the lower ticket prices would still have taken effect. If you don't have a ressie now, don't bother.

Yep, yep, and yep! :thumbsup2 I'm hoping I'll have a very nice birthday surprise (8/13). I've never been involved with discount waiting before; I'm getting caught up in the madness! :rotfl:

We've only been to WDW once 5 years ago. As first timers, the sky was the limit! I think we got $200 off w/ AAA. It was just considered bonus money... This time around we'll have to stay off-property  if no discounts come out.

To me its better to wait (for all of us). Reasoning would suggest that if bookings are in Disney's comfort zone, they are less likely to offer discounts.

We went in June, peak season this past year. I kept checking availablity and there were very few if any resorts sold out even just days before our trip. My brother was set to come with us for four nights, two weeks before we left he added four more nights at POR no problem. And POR was the only resort he was willing to add onto and it was still there. As were the other four moderates and all the values (I checked because I was curious).

The parks were about the same crowd level but it appeared to me that resort availablity was much easier to come by.

One thing about it, you won't pay more for your room than current rack rate is now so wait it out a bit and see what happens. Especially if you are open to more than one resort.

POR is my first choice but I am open to any moderate or value. As you can see, I have my ticker but the only thing I have set is our arrival date. I am waiting to book my resort and the length of my trip until it gets much closer. I refuse to book yet. Even though I know Bob Iger isn't asking his secretary every morning, "has Amy booked yet", it still makes me feel better to wait it out!;)

I had to call WDTC today about a problem with a reservation. I was transferred to Guest Services, they're the ones you talk to when the reservations agent can't help you. So after I got the problem fixed I asked if he knew anything about any discounts for October and beyond.

His response was that they don't know anything until it happens and that I would probably know about the same time he does. I think that's the most honest answer any of us has ever gotten from a CM about future discounts.

I would'nt go as far as saying honest, maybe more vague then anything! HA! Good info though! :O)

This was just posted (not by me) on the TPAS forum. BYOS(alt)

New Promotions on the Horizon!!!
Called Disney this afternoon asking if there were any PIN CODES associated with my name. The CM was very excited to see 2 new pin codes. One that runs from May 1-Nov. 18 for "Ticket Upgrade" which really means free Park hopper option. But that is not the exciting part. The second pin code is a mystery. The CM gave me the number, but say their is no description for the code except that is isn't even allowed to be booked until Aug. 13th. I kept pressing to see if she would speculate and she stated "Something Big".

So here is hoping for something for my trip in October (Free Dining??? or 30% - 40% off resort???) I can't wait.

Worse case scenerio...I will book the "ticket upgrade" code for free park hopper. At least that saves me a couple hundred!

Help...I'm making my first trip to Disney in February in 25 years (my first as an adult)....can someone explain what a PIN code is and how you get one? Do you have to have a Disney credit card or what? THANKS!

I'm going October 14-17. I'm really hoping they pull the gift card deal but i can't recall how long you had to stay for to get it.

BTW, when the discounts come out...I fully intend to say "I told ya so!"

Hello Nic's Mommy-a PIN code is a special promotion that has a code you have to use to get the promotion. They are sent out at random and can only be used by the person the email/mail was sent to.

You don't need to do anything and supposedly it's a completely random event. I personally don't buy that, but that's just me lol. I know that people often give the advice to send away for the Disney planning DVD and also to sign up in your maiden name as well as married name, or to sign your husband up with a different email address. I can tell you that I am the one who always books & pays for our trips and my husband is the one who always gets all the good pins lol. That's why I say I'm not 100% sure it's a random event. They figure they already got my money-but can't seem to snag him. It's like trying to get the attention of someone ignoring you:lmao:

PIN codes are when Disney sends you an email or snail mail with a special offer that is not available to the general public. It will have a special ID number located normally near the bottom. That is the PIN code.

Unfortunately we do not know exactly how Disney decides who to send one to and who does not get one. I've seen people get them after after saving trips on the website or ordering planning DVDs, however not everyone who does that gets the pin. Most of them seem to be out of the blue.

ETA: You can call and see if you have one attached to your name or household. Some CMs aren't as helpful as others, but it sure doesn't hurt to try.

Two years ago I had been following the code threads very closely and read of a FD release for Disney Visa holders on the DIS. The rumors were very heavy on the boards with the actual release date being a few days later. It was end of July and the code was for Oct 1 and later. We were at the beach so I set the alarm, got up early and logged on. Sure enough - around 6:10 CST there was quite a few threads with the code. I immediately got on the phone with WDW and the CM that I talked to was unaware that the code existed. I had the three letter code thanks to my friends on the DIS and it took him a few minutes to look the code up and verify that it would apply. He was extremely nice, laughed and said he believed he would have a very busy day. My phone call was the notice he got that day. By the way - my e-mail from Disney Visa arrived 3 days later !!!

That's why I'm stalking these boards!!! :goodvibes

Thanks to all of you who replied to my question! I appreciate it. I did recently over the vacation planning DVD so I hope I find a code linked to my name!!!

Oh I am with you, I think they will come out sometime in August. I am just going to be interested to see what those discounts are. What will be the blackout dates, and rules (I wonder if they'll bump up the minimum # of ticket nights if they do offer fd) and if the most popular resorts (POFQ and Poly come to mind) will offer less of a percentage off than other resorts like they did under the room code that was released last December for much of 2011.

Quick question - in order to have a PIN code attached to your name in Disney's system, do you have to have an active reservation or is it something that attaches to your "account" in their system? If I don't have a current reservation, can I call to see if I have a PIN attached to my name, which might then entice me to make a reservation? We have stayed onsite many times so I am definitely in their system.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Yes, you are in the system. They can look you up by your name and then also give them any phone numbes, emails and all the names of everyone in your family. My pin for example was under my husband's name and it was when I gave them his cell # they found it.

I just called to check if I had any pin codes. He said there was one listed but it was not active yet. It had a 3 digit code which doesn't sound promising. He did say that there might be something coming the first week of August. He said that he had no real knowledge of one but they were asking people who wanted some overtime that week. He said that is usually what happens when a promotion comes out. Just thought I'd share.
