Any rumors regarding the dining reservation window going back to 180 days?

60, 90, 180 days it doesn't matter. The only issue would be the people between 61 and 180 days trying to make reservations at the same time if/when they decide to make a change.
Once the dust settles it makes no difference but that initial push would be insanity !
I'm definitely worried about this scenario once we hit our 180 day window in 2 weeks :tilt:

I'm at 160 days. So have the same concern. Which is why I keep checking the rumors board, hoping I don't miss any change to the time line.

All the rumors seem to be from people wishing that they go back to 180 days. I just don't see why Disney would do that.

Because people that aren't Dis vets, that know all the ins and outs, were constantly complaining they're were spending all this money but could not get in many restaurants leading to poor retention rate of first timers. All the Dis vets still know the importance and will be on line at 7am 60 days out instead of 180

I'd bet no ressies without tickets bought and park booked is here to stay.

LOL. I'm right there with ya'll. I'm a numbers analyst by day - and a spreadsheet enthusiast at night. :)
I'm a Project Manager, so there's no way I'm not planning my vacation anyways! I like the 180 day window because it gives me something to look forward to far out from the vacation and time to tweak it if plans change. At 60 days I was already excited about the Fastpass (in the old days :) and the actual trip itself. Right now I make hotel reservations the DAY they are available for my trip and hold them until (if) I get a DVC rental or there is a deal later. I just made my Thanksgiving 2022 reservations and have my reminder in for Christmas 2022!

I agree with a lot of people here. I enjoyed being able to attempt getting what you wanted at the 180 mark. Because it gave you something to look forward to. And pressing that refresh button every 17 minutes while you were at work, to see if you can score something even better, was always intensely fun hahahaha

Dude - Totally doing that with Contemporary reservations for Oct 1 right now :P just want to move closer.

I'm at less than 90 days til travel and I too am worried that they will change the rules and I will miss out on Chef Mickey's, the last trip of having an under 3.

I wish they would go back to the old way of making dining reservations. You used to have to go to the area and back of Spaceship Earth at Epcot and make a reservation for that evening talking face-to-face with a reservation specialist on a screen!

I would rather go back to the period right after that, where resort guests could make reservations up to 7 days in advance and day guests day of only. I think availability would improve a lot from the get go if people didn’t book just in case reservations. Wait until all the other plans are set, and then book dining.

I don’t want to go back to a system where you have to make your dinner reservations in advance of your FP+ / Park reservations. It was a royal pain to get your Dinner ressies sorted only to have that tossed into a cocked hat when you could not get matching FP+ reservations and then have to shuffle everything.

How long ago was this? I started in 2017 so I'm not sure what they had in place at the time, but with today's reservation system it would lead to daily crashes.

I really hope they bring it back. I always looked forward to booking 180 days out because you could pretty guarantee getting what you wanted and it helped with the overall planning process. 60 days out just seems so rushed. Half of the fun is the planning process, researching restaurants and menus, deciding what times would work best, making reservations, spending the next several months changing them around and looking for better ones. And then of course the mad scramble to change them when they conflict with FPs at 60 days out. Good times..

We aren't going until February but I am preparing in case they bring back the 180 day mark (which for us is the end of next week). I get the fun of planning just in case but if they don't change it I have 4 months to change things around.

They most likely will lose money, because then it is harder to predict how many ingredients to buy, how many staff to schedule, etc. Harder to determine if you can accept walk-ins.
It’s not harder to predict…. We will see

Why not? You have less information on how many adults, how many kids for example. You do not know what your group sizes will be. That complicates your preparations.
You can go by averages, but you will overbuy more than you would with a more precise number.
