...possibly being extended beyond the end of SWW? I don't think or hope that H&V would change the traditional Disney Junior meal for the long term (though as regular Play & Dine participants, the restauarant has never even been half full when we've been there), but I'm wondering if they'd keep the Star Wars themed breakfast at Sci Fi for the long term. Totally wishful thinking since we won't be attending SWW this year, but what do you guys think? Is there any chatter out there that this could become a regular offering?

At this time it is only for the Star Wars Weekend event. I imagine they will see how popular it is and then take it from there. Don't expect it to stay afterwards though.

Well it's going to be popular 1. Star Wars weekends 2. Is for a limited time only

I don't think we will see any Star Wars dining after this until they would open an actual Star Wars restaurant.

IDK but my ADR for SCI FI was auto rescheduled this week; we had it since December and it is in June on a weekday during the SWW time frame.

I certainly hope they keep a least 1. I think Disney is missing the boat on more boy themed character meals. My poor son has had to go to so many princess meals - he loves it. But I'm still super excited to take him to the Star Wars breakfast during SWW!

What gives me hope is that they've scheduled the Star Wars meals for not only on the actual SWWs, but also during the weeks around SWWs. I'm hoping that's a "test" of sorts to see how popular they are.

I think Disney would be wise to DO THIS STAR WARS CHARACTER BREAKFAST EVERY DAY! I think my grandsons have had enough of Chef Mickeys and Polynesian Character Breakfast. They would love Star Wars, and the restaurant is located so close to Star Tours. C'mon Disney, do it for the BOYS!

I also had our adr rescheduled and then when I found out why I booked the SciFi Star Wars breakfast. It was great!!!

I would love an extension but... 2ts credits for Hollywood and vine? That would be hard to stomach. At least the 2 ts usually have amazing food. H&V is no better then a Golden Corral. Guess it would be worth it once to be guaranteed good character pics. (And not be outside where its a thousand degrees lol)

1) I doubt it will happen.
2) The fact is that parents do not bring BOYS to characters meals as often as girls.
3) If boys would be multiple-repeat customers, WDW would cater to them.
4) After 1-2 visits, the parents don't bring boys back.
. . . yes, I kow everyone is saying "I would take my boys EVERY visit."
. . . but, guest surveys do not bear that out
5) After all
. . . they did have a Toy Story Character Breakfast ready
. . . auditioned the CM's
. . . appointed the CM's
. . . made the costumes
. . . trained the characters and handlers
. . . then, canceled the meal TWO WEEKS before opening
. . . surveys said the repeat business just was not there
6) Of course, Star Wars might be different, but one has to go on history ans surveys.
7) WDW does little without data.

8) I guess we need to wait and see - maybe even I can be surprised.

My son likes the princesses and we do multiple character meals every trip with him. I'm curious about what kind of surveys are being given and when/how that are telling disney that parents don't seem to take boys to character meals. to the point that they'd just write off the option.

The nick hotel does power ranger weekends, ninja turtle meals and spongebob meals. are those "boy" things? when was the toy story meal planned for? prior to 2009 - 10ish? I never heard of it and we would have absolutely taken our son if I had.

lets just assume that people who take boys lock them up in closets and throw peanut butter sandwiches at them at meal times while taking their girls to character meals ;) Even if that were true, don't girls like toy story? star wars? pirates?

we are booked at the nick hotel and using dvc points for a weekend in october so that we can take our then 5 year old son to power rangers weekend without actually staying at nick hotel. we'll do the ninja turtle meal too.

I don't work for disney but we go a lot and it seems as though character meals book up. I'm surprised that given that success Disney wouldn't test more gender neutral character dining. I think its a much more complicated issue then girls being taken to character meals repeatedly more then boys. Again, i don't know what the surveys are but so many things could play into that:
1. the current character dining offerings may not appeal to boys so the parents don't take them back or;
2. who are taking the surveys? character dining guests? wdw resort guests? the pool surveyed could be skewing this.

I don't really see where there is a history on this as it applies to boys in general. One non-princess failed meal attempt shouldn't be the be all end all. maybe toy story wasn't right? maybe the time was wrong? who knows.

I just see a lot of interest in these meals among my friends with boys and our family and here on the boards. So I have to question why people would say in one place that yes they would take their boys to these meals and then fill out surveys saying no they would not. We are booked at both star wars meals the first week of june with one child who is a boy.

I think Disney is missing a large market which they no doubt realize. Perhaps at some point they will do something about it but I'm sure what they're doing is intentional.

I agree. I think they are missing a huge market. I also don't believe that boys don't bring in repeat business. I can't tell you how many character meals my son picks verses my daughter. She's not determined to go to a character meal as much as my son is on every trip. I think Star Wars would be huge and I really hope that they will continue the character meals. I am a chic and I am a huge Star Wars fan as is my family.
