Any ROFR news?

Don,

Okay, I am tired...but, I just re-read your post!! October sounds like fun!!! Our families could meet. The only thing that MIGHT hold us up, is if I get pregnant again... but, if not...count us in!!! That would be REALLY cool!!!

Beca,
Now I know why you are so special! Our local Children's Theater in Mpls. is one of my favorite places. I wrote a grant a few years ago that made it possible for grades kgn through third at our school to go to 3 productions a year for 3 years, all expenses paid. (Virtually none of the kids in the school where I taught could afford to go otherwise.) The secret was that I did it as much for ME as for the kids!
Jean
P.S. What dates will you be at WDW this December?

Jean!!! Are you joining the "night owls" club???!!! Welcome aboard...the more the merrier!!!

That is SOO cool about your kids...once again, I repeat what I have said in the past....your kids were VERY lucky to have you as a teacher!!!

We are going Dec 3-10. I see you are about ready to take off as well!! I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip, and I hope Jeanne is LONG gone before you go!!!

Here's a link to the website of my theatre if you want to take a look. We have some video clips of Footloose that we did last summer. The girl playing Ariel, and the boy playing Rev. Shaw are VERY special kids to me. They are SOOO talented...I hope they "make it big" if that is what they want to do. Okay...so, I am just a little proud of my kids!!!

P.S. Oh, I forgot to mention...the girl who plays "Ariel's Mom" is at WDW right now playing Snow White's Queen!!! She is VERY talented (and nice) as well!!

WOW! Looks like your theater is a really booming enterprise and that we share a love of kids. In my next life ;) I hope to be more creative and artistic. There is no way to overstate the breadth and depth that the arts add to happiness.
I have not totally given up hope of a Dec. trip to WDW so I will keep the Dec. 3 - 10 dates in the back of what's left of my mind.
Jean

Wow, Jean...that would be SOO cool!!!

I would LOVE to meet you!!!

(Okay...just how many PERSONAL posts can I put into a thread in one night???? ;) )

We are SOO bad...but, really...who in their right minds is going to decide to read this MASSIVE thread now, anyway!!! It's just us few "hopers"!!!

Wish it weren't the weekend. I just found a good airfare but don't know about availability at any DVC resort. I'm thinking that all of the hurricanes might have caused a few cancellations at least, even that far out. The airfare will probably be gone by Monday. Guess I'll just have to get on a waitlist for a room and then take my chances on getting a last minute flight if it comes through. I can't even remember how many points I have. Not many. We're going in Jan. and Feb. too, but I just HAVE to see WDW at Christmas!
Time for this insomniac to try for some z-z-z-z. Hope this post gets through before any insomniac mods check in!

Okay, may I also join this fellow thespian group. I have been envolved in community theatre for years (although not so much since my son was born). I have also worked with the local high schools as choreographer. (Although my "real claim to fame" was as an NFL Cheerleader...lots of dancing).

Anyway, getting back to the reunion. We will be at WDW for MNSSHP and F&W in '05 from 10/23-10/27. Sounds like we all might be able to meet up??

Anyway here is my addition.

Darn, Beca, here I thought you were going to be at VWL over the Christmas 2005 holidays so we could meet! Sounds like a lot of trips to Disney in your future!!

Ruth...we ARE going Dec 2005!!!! If we have to "stop trying" to get pg for a few months around the right time....I don't care, but I WILL be at VWL for Christmas 2005!!! I just either have to be less than 7 months pg, or I need to have given birth by October. I take a LONG time to get pg...so, who knows DD may be in college by the time I actually DO get pg!!!

But, we will DEFINITELY see you there...at VWL....using our points that we EACH have!!!!;)

If I could do that, I would have had my contract back in August when I first started this process:tongue:

You sound just like me...timing pg with vacations. I have been doing the same. Did not start trying again until after my last trip to WDW, but want to time it just right before my next one.

Good like with everything.

Kim

Kim....good luck with you, too!!!

Well it looks like everyone was on earlier tonight, I guess most people in the "real" world have plans for a saturday night. Ok so now we get to start the Disney Thespian ROFR club. SAG/Equity Member here who loves disney because its the perfect cross between adventure and theater.

OK since there is no ROFR news. Wicked was fabulous we had the kind of tickets you die for and my son 4 was awestruck. I'm no fool you see. when I was a kid I did a made for TV movie with Margaret Hamilton and have a couple signed Movie pics from her. My son has a bunch framed in his room. So DS is certain his dad knows "Elphaba" a.k.a. WWW Anyway when she blew a kiss to the orchestra section he was sure he was the intended recipient. He has not stopped talking about it since we left the theater.

Beca you have to go, Idina Menzel is fabulous, really an awe inspiring production which has you forget yourself at the door. And a new musical score worthy of Broadway. Nothing against Disney but if you saw the movie B&TB, the show just doesn't do much. Now LK is stunning visually but its alot of puppetry and flash and to a real broadway buff maybe just a touch over produced. Wicked is both, over the top visual stimulation with a fresh score and fantastic performances, If you come to NY DO NOT MISS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beca your job sound like too much fun OK here's the attorney talking I wish I were you. Kids and Theater the best combo.

Kim, wow an NFL Cheerleader how cool Beca's right you really are Kim Possible.

Jean Im with you the arts are my next lifes calling, although I spend my time working for the authors guild and Theater Development Fund now, Im on stage next time around.

You guys are the best, im telling you we are all passing this time I can feel it. By the way Beca you forgot to post your moms listing you better add that one.

Don

Don,

You are SOOO right...I will get right on that!!!

I am so happy you got to see Idina. Kristin Chenoweth has already left the cast, right? Or did you get to see her, too??!! She is COMPLETELY my favorite...one of the most versatile actresses I have EVER seen!!! I would LOVE to go...but, I just don't know if I could leave dd here in phx, and she is too young to go!!

Lion King is actually coming to phx for the first time...I don't even think she could sit through that...and DH and I decided that since we had waited SOOO long to have kids (11 years), that we would try to plan our lives WITH her, as we had plenty of time without her before she was born! So, my dd goes to a friend's house one day a week while I teach...but, every other time she is with me...we have never done a sitter for a "night out". Yes, I know we are spoiling her rotten...but, isn't that why we had her in the first place!!!!

Anyway...here's the updated posting list (including my mom's contract). Any "newly contracted people" PLEASE feel free to add yours to the list:

I saw Kristen the first time I went with my wife to check out the show in previews which is how my son got hooked on the music. His room is green now with Wicked posters all over plus he sings ever song word for word and usually corrects me.

Yeap she already left as did Joel Grey (replaced by George Hearn) Although I loved her (Kristen) Jennifer Thompson (of Urinetown fame) was completely up to the task- the character is to adorable for words "get the diabetics out of the audience"

I know how you feel we never went anywhere without our DS except a wedding and funeral when he was little. Its just harder with the second because we would have to deprive the 4 year old cause the 4 month old can't go. But broadway is something we test first then take him too if appropriate (OK we saw Alan Cummings in Cabaret which we knew was not appropriate but WOW- Ill tell all in a pm way to risque for a post). But no not spoiling at all we call it enjoying (thus DVC) DW and I are kids at heart so now they are our playmates and sometimes excuse. You are so right why do we have them if not to (1) include them in our lives and (2) include ourselves in theirs. Its too bad so many people forget the second part.

Don

Just caught up on my reading...wow I lead a boring life LOL!:teeth: Anyway....I know we've strayed OT but this is a fun thread to read AND I've just figured out that we are going to get tix to see Wicked for the girls. I was trying to decide which show to take them to this year...now I'm sold! So Don...you think it's okay to take two little girls (ages 4 and 7) to see Wicked? Just bummed we missed Kristen, she is my fave B'way actress. My DH and I are musical theater nuts...we hold season passes to some play houses...or we did. Too much money now with our...ahem...added DVC expenses LOL! But it's worth it. Now we're going to take the kids into NYC more often to see shows.

GOOD LUCK you guys. The wait must be driving you crazy!!! BUT...it looks as if the news is VERY good lately and I think you'll hear SOON!!!! PIXIE DUST!!!

BTW...wouldn't an ROFR meet be awesome. I want to meet everyone from this thread. You guys are the best :D .

Here is my latest...Closing Documents arrived yesterday via email! We are sending the check and signed paperwork via Fed Ex on Monday or Tuesday. After that....who knows how long before we're in the system. Beca...Ruth...any ideas about how long before I can make my ressies?!

Thanks!

I saw this. What I want to know is why Disney passed this and not ours at $78 ppt. They went in around the same time?

I just can't figure out their logic:confused:

Kim

P.S. If I ever get these point...DH and I were thinking of taking 50 and doing the Plaza for a night. Now I know which show to catch. The fact that we could bring our son to see it (also 4) would be an added bonus.

Kim, you're getting SO close now -- can't you just taste it?? We've been told by several of the brokers that, after you close, it can take up to 10 business days to get you in the system so you can make reservations. We've never had to wait that long to get in the system. We closed on our VWL contract last Monday (9/20) so I plan to start calling tomorrow (assuming MS is working). I think 5 to 7 days is more realistic -- although there have probably been people who get in the system quicker and others longer! Geez, did that tell you anything at all, Kim???

You know, Amybeth...I hate to say it...but, it really depends on your seller!! Like I said, we overnighted EVERYTHING to the closing company, and electronically drafted a check (the absolute FASTEST way)...and, then our seller took almost TWO weeks to get everything notarized and returned!!! I was going insane!!! I kept thinking she was changing her mind about selling!! The truth is...she works really crazy hours, and was having problems getting the docs notarized (that's what they said...I say, for $15,000..take a couple hours off!!!). Anyway, by the time she got the docs returned, the title company had EVERYTHING ready to go, and faxed it to me the next day. Then, I call MS and, after speaking to both the "legal" dept, and the accounting dept...I was in the system that afternoon (Disney was VERY nice!!).

What is "normal", I do not know!!! I think it may take about a week after the "seller' returns the docs to get everything finished and returned to DVC, and then it takes 3-5 working days to get you into MS system...at least, that is what I seemed to have read.

BTW, once I signed the closing docs, and overnighted them to DVC, I called MS DAILY to see if I was in the system. I know, I am REALLY bad...but, I was really anxious to make that ressie!! When MS would pick up the phone and ask for my member number, I would reply, "Well, I was hoping you could tell me." They were SOOO nice, one CM even called "legal" to see when I might be in the system. If you really need to make a ressie, you might give this a try...I would keep calling your broker, though to see when the seller returns the docs (or better yet...have your broker call you)... 'cause nothing can happen until the seller returns everything.

Good luck, and please let me know long it takes...it would give me some idea how things are "supposed" to go.

Congrats again!!!!!!
