Any reviews on The Sugar Factory, Foxwoods?

We are headed to Foxwoods Casino this weekend for VDay. I want to go to The Sugar Factory, but the reviews on Yelp are terrible.

Does anyone have any other dinner suggestions?

My bf owns a restaurant and is pretty difficult to please. I am thinking of Captain Daniel Packer Inn in Mystic for a nice dinner.

I had to double check and see if it was the same as the one/ones in NYC. To me, it’s somewhere to go with a group of friends for silly $40 sweet cocktails (my teens love that place). I can’t imagine the food would be something special.

It veers towards the traditional: NE seafood and steaks with exceptionally nice salad compositions. Dining room is pleasantly dark (think there are wood planks on the wall). We went there after a full day @ the Aquarium and Seaport and uhm well my travel companions needed a rest from my obsession with seafood shacks and road food in the region, LOL. It served as a relaxing change of pace for all and I can't think of any reason it wouldn't make a nice Valentine weekend venue.

The RI chowder/clam broth is divine, the seafood and fish always pristine and I just wish they'd deliver to NYC. Oh right they have a nice selection of prepared dishes too.

The Sugar Factory is a place to go to when you are celebrating a birthday or to have a fun time -- not romantic at all! The food is okay, but nothing to write home about. The fun thing to do is to get one of their very large drinks to share. The place is loud and one often has to wait to get a seat. Very popular with young 20 somethings and family groups.

I was going to say go to the Irish pub instead but that’s Mohegan...it was so yummy, I can’t wait to go back!

I haven’t been to sugar but I know a few friends with teenagers, aka my kids ages, have gone and posted pictures of their sweet treats.

The last time we went to Foxwoods it was that really cold weekend and I just wanted to walk and we walked by it on the way to kiddie gambling and the outlets and it was busy but it didn’t look like there were tons of people waiting to be seated, and that was either a Friday or Saturday night.

How about the steak loft in mystic. I have never been but I heard good things.

The food at Sugar Factory is really, really not good. The drinks are cloyingly sweet.
I’d stick with your instinct of Daniel Packer. We love Steak Loft too. The salad bar is great and both the seafood and steaks are great! Love the sides too.

If you really want to stick with Foxwoods for dinner, Red Lantern is quite good.
