Any Reviews of Dixie Crossroads Orlando Yet?

I've read many good reports of the Dixie Crossroads restaurant in Titusville over the years here on the Orlando forum. I know they've opened another restaurant at the Festival Bay Mall in Orlando. Has anyone eaten there yet? What's your opinion? Is it as good as the one on the coast?

Also, their menu seems very wide. What specifically is great there?

I read an article in a newspaper a few weeks ago about the Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, I had never heard of it. The writer said he had some of the best shrimp he had ever eaten at DC. So last weekend on a trip to Orlando my wife and I decided to drive over and try it out. Started with little round hushpuppies with powdered sugar on top I had to send back - not because they were bad but because if they stayed on the table I was going to eat about 20 of them. I think we ordered the rock shrimp and white shrimp, not sure. The rock shrimp was the unique food here (someone correct me if I have the wrong shrimp) because the shrimp is split in half then fanned open and then I guess cooked, or maybe cooked then fanned open. It is still in the shell and you pull it out sort of like little lobsters. Very good and different from usual fried seafood.

We went at lunch and at around noon on a Saturday in November not too crowded.

Ate there a couple of weeks ago and it was great ! This new restaurant is even better than their original store. Great fried and broiled seafood, ribs, etc.

This is a restaurant that has its original location in nearby Titusville, where we have eaten before. Go to either if you can.

We ate the DC in Titusville a few years ago. Yum. Still remember how good the shriimp was.

Have to hit the one in Orlando next time.

Woohoo!! Dixie Crossroads (Titusville) is a must-do whenever we head to DMIL's home on the coast in New Smyrna Beach.

But not every trip to FL brings us to the coast. But every trip to FL brings us to Orlando. LOL

So now we can still get our Rock Shrimp & Hush Puppies. They are to die for!

Thanks so much for the info about Orlando location. I had NO idea!!! I just added it to our December trip!!!!!! DH will be so happy!!!!

Oh my gosh! We LOVE the Dixie Crossroads in Titusville! We discovered it several years ago and we have been known to drive out there just for lunch. I'm SO glad to hear they opened one in Orlando!!!

Rock shrimp are a hard-shell shrimp. The family that owns the Dixie Crossroads also has some kind of interests in shrimping & invented an automatic splitter. They resemble lobster more than shrimp, both in taste & texture.

I've eaten at both. The Titusville locaton has a goofy kind of charm, but it *so* far away from the parks...you can easily kill a day going out & back. (The Titusville branch is close to Kennedy Space Center & other Florida-East Coast attractions.) The Orlando location is in a mall, nice but almost feels...less-authentic?
Sometimes the rock shrimp are *not* available(as we found out on one of our trips last year), so if that's important to you, call the DC restaurant you want to visit and check before you make the drive. The rock shrimp are wonderful and yuuummmy, plus I think the draft beers are quite reasonably-priced .
