any restaurants where you can eat at the bar?

First post, first trip to Disney, first family vacation that doesn't involve me packing everything into a duffle bag & riding a motorcycle for hundreds of miles...you get the idea .

I was wondering if any of the signature restaurants gave you the opportunity to have appetizers & drinks at the bar rather than having to sit at at table? And if so, would this require an ADR?

It seems like it would be a less time consuming & less "planning so far in advance that my head might explode" option.

I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but I just had to reply (off-topic) about--"first family vacation that doesn't involve me packing everything into a duffle bag & riding a motorcycle for hundreds of miles." Although I love our bike trips, it feels good to actually have REAL luggage to pack my stuff in. It's nice to be able to carry my hair dryer if I want to. Just wanted to chime in tell you that I COMPLETELY know where you're coming from.

There are a couple of lounges mostly in the resorts that you can order some items off the menu esp. at the Deluxe. In the park, I can only think of Prime Time Cafe at DHS. I am sure that there is more.

You can order a complete dinner at the California Grill bar, and I believe Jiko also. We have also ordered dinners at Raglan Road's bar too.

ChristaDeVil- I appreciate your taking the time to read my post, even if you couldn't answer my question . I'm just looking forward to not having to pack everything in plastic bags first! The upside of having spent all those years of packing for bike trips is that we tend to travel really light.

acourtwdw- That's along the lines of what I was wondering but couldn't trim it down enough to fit in the subject line. Someplace like the California Grill or Narcoossee's. I don't need to go any farther than the appetizers on some of those menus & I'm in heaven.

I'm just a little overwhelmed by all of the planning . The bike trips are old hat, I could prepare for those in my sleep. The Disney stuff is a whole other story!

Yes you can at Ca Grill and Jiko. The only thing you have to take into account is availability. When we were there in January, both of these lounges were so packed with people waiting for tables that there was no way a walkup could have gotten a table for drinks and appetizer. This is esp. true at Ca Grill where you have to get elevator access, if they are packed, you won't be allowed up.

At CG, I would think your best bet would be to go either very early, long before MK fireworks, or after the fireworks. I don't remember seeing a lounge at Narcoosees when I've been there but I probably just wasn't looking.

Also Flying Fish has a neat bar that overlooks the kitchen, you can get the full menu there. And CG and Jiko as others have already mentioned. Having dinner there looks like a neat experience, but it is something I have never tried. Reports are you can chat with the chefs and they are know to slip samples to the guests there from time to time.

At CG, I'd get there early and/or avoid trying to get a spot at the fireworks time. Shortly after the fireworks might be the best time to go.

plutolovr, pakey & GazerBeam- thank you for your responses and advice. It didn't occur to me that if the restaurant was busy the lounge area would be full of people waiting (oh, my frazzled brain!). Flying Fish was definitely on my go to list as well. Being able to sit at the bar & check out the kitchen while we eat? It sounds perfect to me.
