Since this will be our 1st time going to WDW, we're not sure where to stay. We're leaning towards Port Orleans Riverside. But here's my question, is there any resort that's "more Disney" than the rest? We are huge Disney fans and would love to see statues of Mickey, Character photo opportunities, Mickey shaped soap in our room, Mickey wake-up calls, etc. Is there anything like that?

We just got back from the Disney Cruise and felt that it wasn't Disney enough (if you can believe that)!!!! So any suggestions where Disney is really in our faces all the time???

Thanks everyone! :D

All of the resorts are pretty "disney"... there are not statues of Mickey, or Mickey shaped soap. The resorts convey a theme. Some do a better job of it than others. The Wilderness Lodge is a wonderfully themed resort. It reminds you of the Pacific Northwest. Port Orleans Riverside evokes the feeling of the South... there are hidden Mickey's and the soap in the rooms does have a Mickey face on it (at least the last time we were in WDW they still had it). There aren't character's that hang out at the resorts (except for character breakfasts - but they're not wandering around the hotel all day). With that being said, they are all VERY DISNEY!

All Star Movies are probably the most in your face Disney.

Personally as much as I like Mickey, I don't like him in my face 24/7.

None of the soaps are actually shaped like Mickey, but at most resorts they ahve his face embossed on the top.

At the mods and All Stars they only have hand soap, the rest is in a dispenser on tehs hower wall. All the deluxes except the GF have Mickey hand and bath soap, lotion, shampoo and some even have toothbrushes and mouthwash.

We stayed at AllStar Sports and it was wonderful. All of the AllStars have great Disney themes. These are also the least expensive of the Disney Resorts.

There is a food court at each resort as well as at least 2 pools. You do not have all the amenities that you would find at a moderate or deluxe resort but if you are looking for value and a great Disney stay the AllStars fit the bill.

Have a great time!

Sasha,
if you really want 'very Disney' theme, then you must stay at any of the All Star Resorts! They are very disney! These are the value resorts but so wonderfully done in disney theme! Check out some sites for pics (our laughing place.com, wdwig.com)

Actually the character bus goes to ALL the resorts 3 or 4 times a week. The characters hang out in the mornings for picture opportunities and can be seen goofing around inside and out during this time! :) We love the detailed theming the resorts offer. And YES, Mickey wake up calls are available:p !

The All Stars are very in your face Disney. Our kids love them. There is a ton of eye candy (statues, pictures, etc.).

I also think that any of the All Star resorts would be extremely Disney.

If you are looking for the most "Disney" resort, I have to agree that you will probably be the most happy at the All Stars. You might want to get your ressies at the All Star Movies and request a room in the Fantasia building... You will not lack for Mickey, or Disney. One thing to note is that the rooms are pretty small.. all have 2 double beds, and one sink. The soap is in a dispenser, not the bars of soaps mentioned in some of the previous posts.

As for the other resorts... they are all quite beautiful and well themed, but you won't find murals of Disney characters on the walls. Honestly, the most "Mickey" I have seen in the resorts, besides the All Stars, was at the Contemporary, where you will find a statue in the lobby, and also one near the pools. It is also home to Chef Mickey's. And, of course, if you stay in the tower on the MK side, you will have the best view of all... the Magic Kingdom, right outside your room.

As for Port Orleans Riverside. We love it, have stayed there twice when it was Dixie Landings, and although it has wonderful theming, it is not "in your face" Disney, with pictures, icons, etc.

As for the characters... they have character caravans about 3 times a week at each resort where you and your kids can meet and greet the characters. It is a nice little send off to the parks. The characters vary, so check with the front desk when you check in.

Hope you find the resort of your dreams!

I agree with ducklite that All Star Movies is the most disney themed. We stayed there is 2000, in the Toy Story Section. They did leave us the Mickey Soap, but we had to request it.

Have a great trip!!

I think the PO-French Quarter is whimsical with its band-instrument playing alligator icons, and mardi-gras food court. Not the Disney characters per se but a playful environment.

I agree with the other posters who suggested ASMO. Our kids absolutely loved it! We felt like we were in the "Disney Magic" even back at our resort. The atmosphere is by far the most Disney-like of all the resorts. I've stayed at CR and DxL. CR was great because it was close to the MK and DxL was just not to my liking, but after staying at ASMO last April in the Toy Story section we don't plan on staying anywhere else with kids. Someone mentioned the rooms being small, but to be honest I didn't feel like DxL rooms were so much larger than ASMO. We had two connecting rooms for 7 of us and we didn't have any space problems.

For atmosphere, bus service, layout, and price I think ASMO is the perfect resort.

Funny, but among all the resorts, I agree that ASMo has the most strong and obvious Disney theming. The others are themed, but unless you knew they were Disney's you probably could not tell.

While all the resorts have great theming, you cant get more Disney than All Star Movies. We cant wait to get back there.

I just got back from the 18th trip to DW. I've stayed at all the Deluxe resorts and the moderates. My DD was at the All Star Sport. It was the first time I was ever there. The movies looked so adorable. It think the rooms are much smaller but if you have never been to DW I would think it would be great to start there. Once when we stayed at the POR they had soap dispensers on the wall but they have since done away with them. I don't think the soap is going to make or break the vacation. I am picky about what I use on my hair anyway. My DD forgot her toothbrush and the front desk sent her a tooth brush and tooth paste to her room in the All Star. Of course they were in a Mickey Mouse Box. Very cute.

Another vote for ASMO for in your face Disney.
If you want a deluxe I would agree that Contemporary is the most "Disney" themed.

Thank you so much everyone for all of your suggestions. My dh & I certainly have a lot to consider.

Does anyone know if any of the resorts have room service available? That's a big one for my dh.

Thanks again for all of the advice. :)

:) HI Sasha- If you are looking for room service than you need to stay at a deluxe. They are the only ones that do full room service. I think that Coronado Springs may do room service (this is a moderate), because it is a big convention hotel, but I don't know much about it. We usually stay in a deluxe Epcot hotel and room service there was great. You hang your breakfast order out on your door knob the night before and your order comes at the time you specified. They do also lunch and dinner. I can highly recommed the Yacht Club and Beach Club. We will be trying the Boardwalk Inn come November.

Most Mickey's + room service = Contemporary

They even have the characters' voices in the elevators announcing the floors.
