My daughter is going to need a pretty big wheeled backpack this year. I have heard good things about Land's End, but they are expensive - $60 - $70. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Or maybe a discount code for Land's End? THANKS!

I don't have a discount code, but I'm sure there are some out there.

One thing about the wheelie backpack... .make sure the school/teacher allows them. I know my DDs school does not permit them at all. Too dangerous, other kids tripping over them, no place to store them, etc.

All of our schools do not allow them either.

Is the backpack going in a locker? The elementary I used to work at had lockers. My students who had wheelie backpacks could not fit their backpacks in their locker. I had them put their backpacks under a table I had in the front of the room, because I didn't want to risk anyone tripping over them. This took up valuable storage space in the classroom. Another thing to consider, once the students put away their winter gear, there is even less room in the lockers and even some of the non-wheelie backpacks had to go under the table.

The wheeled backpacks are very dangerous. Kids trip over them constantly (not to mention the little darlings that use them as a battering ram :scared1: --and, yes, I've seen that multiple times!)

The Lands End ones may not be cheap but they hold up REALLY well and if for some reason the one you purchase doesn't live up to your expectations (i.e. falls apart, rips, etc.) you may return it at any time (even years later) for a full refund of your purchase price. They have a fabulous unconditional warranty on all of their products -- you can send it back to them postage paid or just take it in to your local Sears store. All you need is your receipt.

There are no active free shipping or discount codes that I know of right now, but if you sign up on their website you will receive frequent codes!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! Yes our school allows them. They actually recommend them because the kids have to take all of their books home everyday. Any more suggestions?

LL Bean has some on sale for $63. (Definately comparable quality.) If you/someone you know has an LLB Visa, it's free shipping and free monogram.

Lands end is has a $5 off select backpacks and free shipping going on right now.

After buying acheaper backpack DD's first year of school and having it rip by the middle of the year, I only buy Land's End backpacks now. Actually since that first year I have only bought her ONE Land's End backpack b/c it LASTS!!!!! (Going into 4th grade). DS is getting a Land's End one right out of the starting gate for K this year! They are cheaper in the long run.

Just another voice telling you to make sure the school/teacher allows them. We can't have them here.

OP, here you go:

Code: STILLSUMMER
Pin: 1910

Offer expires July 20, 2010

Hope this helps out!:thumbsup2
