Any recommendations for a nice beach near Williamsburg, VA?

We're debating about going to Williamsburg this summer for a week or so then doing a beach vacation afterwards. Is it anywhere near Virginia Beach? I suppose I could dig up a map somewhere but you guys are always so helpful...

I was there over Christmas. Yup...Virginia Beach is close. I'd say about a 45 minute drive, no more than an hour. We did the drive 2 days. Not bad at all. Can I come?

It is a very easy ride from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. It is straight interstates. You get onto I64 and drive till you get to the ocean. It is very hard to get lost going there. If you are looking for a good beach there, try Sandbridge. It is not as crowded as the main beach, but right down the street. Have a great time.

VA beach is your crowded touristy beach
just down the road is Sandbridge which I believe is more locals
We've done both - my parents like in Cheasapeake, VA
short drive to beach for us
