I'm considering adding the DDP or DxDDP to our reservation for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day since we cannot use out TIW card. I did a search & came up with several horror stories from earlier in the year when segmenting was 1st rolled out, but I don't see anything too recent. I'm just wondering if it's going to be more trouble than it's worth. Has anyone done this recently & did you have any issues?

I just got back from a trip to OKW. We stayed 3 nights, and I had the reservation segmented into 3 separate nights. We had the DxDDP the 2nd night so that we could use it our first full day and our last day. When I checked in, I was told I would have to come to the front desk each day to get new room keys. So the next day I went down to the front desk, and they told me that the original keys we were given were good the entire stay, that it had just changed last week. The only problem we had was that the room keys didn't state that we were on any dining plan. We went to Trail's End for breakfast that second day and we told the front desk we were on the DxDDP but we didn't tell our waiter. So he rang it up as if we were paying OOP. When I tried to charge just the tip to our room, he said, "Are you on the DDP?" He corrected the charge and everything was fine, but I told every waiter afterwards that we were on the DxDDP. I will definitely do it again! In fact, I will be doing a segmented reservation in December. I love that they have given us this option!

Had the segmented dining plan for 6 nights two weeks ago at Kidani Village. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I was just on the phone a little while ago with member satisfaction about the whole fiasco. Also had a segmented reservation with dining for only half of the stay at BWV and BLT the week before KV. Everything worked perfectly with those two reservations. My recommendation to you is to do the dining plan at the first part of your reservation. That was how we had our segments that worked at BWV and BLT. At Kidani Village, we had our dining plans on the 2nd and 3rd segment of the week - it was quite the headache.

How do you have a reservation segmented. Do you just call member services and they will break up an existing reservation.

I'm sorry for the trouble you had & this is what I'm worried about. Christmas Eve & Christmas Day fall smack in the middle of our trip & those would be the only days I'd want it for. The rest I can use my TIW card. Maybe I should just pay OOP.

Thank you DisneyStarWisher for sharing your success story.

If you decide to try to segment, don't let the MS CM do anything til you are assured you won't lose your 12/24 and 12/25 reservations...particularly if you made them before 7 months out...at least early in the process (don't know if it has changed), segmenting an existing reservation required canceling and rebooking...not sure if it's still that way, but 12/24 and 12/25 are hard enough to book that I'd make very sure before trying!

Good luck and happy holidays at WDW!

We segmented our stay in May11, with DDP every other day for 2 weeks  This allowed us to spread each days plan over 2 days - TS meal 1 day, QS and snack the next. More than enough food for us. We simply swapped room keys each morning, which took no more than 2/3 mins. it worked like a charm, and I would highly recommend :worship: So much so we are doing it all again in August. I don't know if you've used the plan before, but they have some great restaurants. Our favorites are Le Cellier (lunchtime for 1 TS credit), Coral Reef, Chef de France. Wolfgang Puck and Artists Pallet are our preferred QS locations. For a snack you can't beat The Bakery and Seashore Sweets (fab ice cream) at The Boardwalk. Have fun :cheer2:

We plan on doing our first 2 days on the dining plan, 3rd day no dining plan. 4th, 5th and 6th days on, 7th day no dining plan. Will we only have to change keys on 4th day? Do you think we will have a problem with credits carrying over til midnight the 3rd day? TIA

Thank you to all for all the positive feedback. I feel better now & we've decided to add the DDP to our Christmas Day stay only. We crunched the #s & based on where we want to eat on Christmas Eve it's better from a $$$ standpoint to only do it for the one day. Now all I need to do is getting the reservations I'm hoping for when my window opens on 6/23.

So do you need to check in to get new keys, or did this really just change this past week that your keys are good thru the week as the PP said? (I think the second post? just back from OKW)

I'm smart enough to keep track of what day we have what, but think it would be a hassle at TS restaurants without the DDP listed on your key card.
