I've never eaten at either (Le Cellier either but I think by the reviews it is on our 10day stay TWICE already:cheer2: )

So Mama Melrose for Dinner ? Any suggestions or opinions?

Also what about Captain Jacks in Downtown Disney? It only got in the mix after Dh saw they offered lobster tail.....

I chose Plaza at Magic Kingdom after seeing a different variety on the kids menu....

We are using the Disney Dining Plan and need other recommendations too please I have 10days to plan

So far we have Mama Melrose, Le Cellier TWICE, Hollywood & Vine *must have for dd for JoJo* Chef Mickey's *must have for DS*, Trails End BBQ, Plaza, and finally Captain Jacks

Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much

We tried Mama Melroses for the first time last month and we will not be back. We were seated within 5 minutes. Our waitress never brought us bread and we asked twice. Same with the grated cheese. The calamari was overly breaded. The toasted bread salad had 2 croutons. The chick parm was ok and the eggplant napoleon was tasteless and the bean ragu was as hard as a rock. The only thing we liked was the cocktails.

I've debated Mama Melrose, but have yet to hear great things about it. Looks like we'll be passing on that one.

Sorry OP that I can't help you. I've got the same questions as we try to plan our own 7 days, so I'll be keeping an eye on the responses you get.

We ate at Mama Melrose on Jan. 3. The restaurant is ok, not great ambiance. I had minestrone soup and it was good. My DH had salad. Our bread was brought with our entree, not with appetizers. I had a pasta dish with chicken and asparagus. It was decent. I can't remember DH's dish. Our kids had pizza which they liked. The service was not very good. When my DH and I ordered wine, our server made a comment about how her son was picking her up from work and would have a cold beer in the car (!) waiting for her. Interesting... We waited a long time for our check and between courses, but they were busy. Overall, we ate there so we could be in MGM for the Osborne lights, and they were worth it! Would I go back? Probably not.

We ate at Mama Melrose on Dec. 13th w/ the fantasmic package. Food was mostly good. For appetizer, the calamari was excellent and for dessert, the chessecake was the best I've ever had in my life, but the entrees weren't that good at all. Service was great and very fast. I might return again.

We ate at Mama Melrose's Christmas week. We were seated almost immediately, and our service was excellent! Our waiter was very attentive and made sure our drinks were constantly full. He had a wonderful rapport with all of us - paid special attention to both kids, which is always a plus.

The food was good. Not our WDW favorite by any means, but I suspect that has more to do with other very good Italian food we have had closer to home. Of the restaurants we have eaten at at the Studios, we find MM to be our favorite. We did not enjoy Hollywood and Vine (pre character dinner) - we did not (overall) find the food to be that good.

I highly recommend the following restaurants for anyone (Dining Plan or not):

O'Hana (dinner) - excellent family style, all-you-can-eat dinner. Best BBQ chicken wings I have ever had (not to mention the rest of the meal) - well worth a trip to the Polynesian Resort!

Boma (breakfast or dinner - not only do you get to explore the AK Lodge (worth a trip in it's own right), but the buffet is wonderful! African inspired food is unique (and not too spicy or out-of-the ordinary that timid eaters would be overwhelmed) plus they do have an assortment of "regular" food that satisfies everyone. Best breakfast we have ever had!

LeCellier - already a favorite of the OP. Excellent steak, appetizers (Cheese soup - yum!) and desserts.

Chefs de France - We enjoyed this in August. An upscale feel to the restaurant, and very, very good food.

Happy planning!:)

Thanks guys. I am so bummed we are really spoiled to GREAT over the top Italian food and this just isn't going to do :sad2:

So are there any other GREAT or at least semi GREAT Italian places?

Thanks again

I'm hearing good things about L'Originale Alfredo over at Epcot. That's where we are planning on going for Italian.

nhdisnut: Thank you for those recommendations. I did put Boma on our list. Hubby is a bit concerned with African, but luckily, he's willing to try anything. And I was looking at O'hana, so I think that may get added to the list also. We're going at the end of November and I was looking for something at MK for pre-MVMCP, but maybe going to the Polynesian is a good idea too since it's on the monorail.

I've eaten at Alfredo in Italy, and I'd say that it can be hit or miss. If you like Alfredo, that's their specialty. For anything else, it can be just average. It's also a very crowded place, and can get really loud.

We were on the ddp May/June 2006 and had a fabulous dinner at Cap'n Jacks. It was pouring when we arrived, I had the steak, and apparently on fridays you can have a lobster tail added for no charge, delicious!. My dd had chicken and my ds ribs; they also loved the desserts, by the time we finished, a rainbow had appeared across the lake and we enjoyed seeing it out of our port window. We also had great dinners at Hollywood and Vine, Liberty Tavern, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Le Cellier, (but then we are Canadian), Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace. Our favourite breakfast was the breakfast buffet at Donald's Prehistoric Breakfastosaurus at the AK. Our least favourite dinner was at Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney. Not that the food is bad, just the servers are terribly snotty. When we told our server we were on the DDP, he asked if we were sure we had enough credits left, this was 5 days into a 10 day plan; but he complained he had been stiffed before. I proferred my room card and told him he could check before we ordered, but he declined. That didn't make me feel very welcome. His service remained very slow and cold. We only go there because ds 15 likes the ambiance and the music. It was our second time, and the server in 2004 was equally snotty.
have a really fun time,
donna
p.s. for princesses, the Asherkus breakfast in the Norway Pavillion is very much overlooked, and often very easy to get into. Dd, then 7, loved it, great food and lots of princesses, when we were there in 2004, Princess Aurora, Snow White, Belle, Mulan and Jasmine were all there and very sweet and spent lots of time with us.

Cap N' Jacks is a "must" on our list. We have been eating there every trip to Disneyworld for the past 6 years. We have found the service to be good, and the food yummy. I really enjoy their seafood pasta as well as their Lobster Tail. Due to specific diets, I have found that they always honor any request (extra veggies w/o butter, instead of a potato).
