Any recent GOOD reviews of WL?

We just returned from the WL and we absolutly LOVED it. We really liked everything about the place. The transportation was great, we loved the boat to MK, & FW & CT. It was quite,, and the view from our room was awsome.( Courtyard view ROOM 6067). Maid service was great, towel animals everyday, and with the exception of one CM at checkout, everyone was just so nice. We plan a return trip there soon.

We just stayed at our Home from December 7-13.

DH had to DRAG me out of the Lodge- I did not want to leave.

Our mousekeeper was excellent. She was our mousekeeper in May of 2002. As we walked out of our room the first morning she said "I recognize you. You have stayed here before. Welcome home." She left us towel animals each day. We had such a blast with her as our mousekeeper. We miss her already.

Check in was amazing. Our cast member got us into a Courtyard view that we absolutely loved.

Bell services was awesome. They moved our luggase so quickly for us. We were thrilled.

Seemed like we waited for a boat once. Usually when we walked up the boat would be coming or there. Wait time was definetly under 10 minutes.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong (please do if I am) but for the past couple of years the "loop" of the Magic Kingdom boat has been WL then MK then FW then WL. Later in the day the loop reverses. For example switch of loop later in day is MK-WL-FW and so on.

We watched EWP every night from our balconey.

As usual we enjoyed a "quiet" and relaxed breakfast at the Whispering Canyon. On the day that we left DH went up front with the rest of the guys and sang I'm a little teapot. I did not have enough time to go and get the video camera. What a blast!

This was the best trip yet. We LOVE the WL and I CAN NOT WAIT to go back.

Enjoy your Honeymoon at the Lodge.

I suppose you have to be careful about posts that warn of doom and gloom in the resorts. I too had plenty of skepticism about where to stay on our next rip. We have been to ASMu twice and loved both trips (you can find many negative posts about the all stars. I disagree). We now wanted to check out a Moderate and Deluxe to see what they were all about. On our second trip to ASMu we went without the kids and had the plan that we would tour some of the resorts as we toured the parks. I had read all the posts about POR being shabby and run down. There seemed to be lots of complaints especially on other sites. My wife and I had looked at the resort on the web and thought it sounded like the best place for us. We really wanted to got to POR FQ but it was/is closed. We did ride over to POR during that trip and spoke with a very nice family who was staying there. The woman I spoke with said that they had stayed at POR every year for ten years and would continue to do so as the resort was great. They had no complaints. She told me the way to the lobby and dock area and we walked that way. I have to tell you we loved the place immediately. I have since seen many, many reports of POR that have been great with a smattering of posts that have a complaint (some real-BUGS!!! some petty-dust on the picture frames???who cares? is it a trip killer-NO). We will continue to plan on POR based on what I have seen and the majority of posts being positive (and the lack of stuffing in my wallet).

We're back from the Wilderness Lodge with good news! We first stayed there in 1996. I found our recent stay to be just as satisfactory as our first. I tend to have high expectations (i.e., I'm picky) and also tend to speak up when I don't feel that I'm getting what I've paid for. At no time over the past four days did I feel disappointed.

We'd arrived in Orlando the night before our stay at WL. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Select by the Airport. We got to WL at 10:30 a.m. and our room, 5118, was ready! Bell service was prompt getting our bags up to the room. Our room was surprisingly bright, clean and in excellent condition.

We rented a car, so my husband and I did not experience bus transportation from the lodge. Our DD, who had a friend staying at the Boardwalk, seemed to have no trouble getting to where she wanted to be. We never waited more than 10 minutes for the boat to Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary Resort. The boat ride back to the lodge at 9:00 p.m., while the fireworks were going off, was magical!

Our mousekeeper, Norma, was delightful. One morning we had breakfast at Whispering Canyon and she'd cleaned the room during the short time we were away. There was a cute little bunny made from washcloths on the nightstand. (Later we found a towel angel on the table.) DD is recovering from her first semester in college (Engineering) and during the rest of our stay she wanted to sleep in and was never disturbed.

We used valet parking for the car and had no problems with that. We were always asked if we needed directions and offered maps and a hang tag that would allow us to valet park at other resorts if we wanted to.

I would stay at the Wilderness Lodge again and would recommend it to anyone who likes the Lodge look and feel. To the OP, I wish you a great trip!

We stayed at the WL for a week in June. It was the BEST!!! I am also from Florida and for the whole week I didn't feel like I was in FL anymore. Mousekeeping was excellent---when we wanted to sleep late (12PM) no problem. When we wanted the room cleaned fast...no problem. We had our 6 month old daughter with us and we had plenty of room...2 queen size beds and our dd slept in our pack and play. We were upgraded upon arrival without asking. I had booked a standard room and we were put in a courtyard view room. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony and look at the pool, lake, and trees. Everytime we went to the dock, the boat was there just waiting for us. The restaurants were wonderful. One night we even spurlged and ordered room service and drinks (pina coloadas) and the service was prompt and very courteous. Oh, we also found towel animals in our room everyday. We will definitely stay there again.

PS-My husband even "borrowed" one of the rocking chairs to use in our room to rock our dd to sleep. The mousekeeper left in in our room the entire time saying that there was no problem in us doing that.

I went for 9 days in Oct. LOVED it . We woke up to the Castle in the moring and saw fireworks from our om at night . I took my nephew who had just turned 3 and he loved it also. The staff was wonderful and I think the $6 a day for valet is cheap. . We stayed on Conceirge level and they were WONDERFUL !

ENJOY yourself and CONGRATS !

Like one of the other posters said, take all the negative posts with a grain of salt. We were at the WL Dec. 20-27, and it couldn't have been more magical. We arrived early and though our assigned room wasn't ready, the CM did some checking to see if she could switch us to a room that was. We ended up in the same room (5082) that we'd had on our June trip. The kids had asked if we could request it before we left home and I told them the odds were against our getting the same room twice! What do I know! LOL

I agree that WL gets a bad wrap on the transportation issue too. The only significant wait we had was for the early morning character breakfast bus to the AK. There was a CM at the bus stop that radioed in at least 3 times trying to get that bus there for us.....finally 3 pulled up back to back.

We encountered wonderful CMs, prompt transportation, and IMO the most beautiful setting in the world. I'd be happy staying there for any and all future trips! Enjoy!
