Any reason to buy tickets well in advance?

We are based in the UK. We had originally planned a trip to Disney in Easter 2021 and was cancelled due to COVID. We had spent a lot of time getting organised with fast passes etc.. and had got all our rides booked ahead of time.

We are back in Orlando later this August. Given that things seem to have changed significantly with the replacement of FastPass with genie+ / Lightning Lanes, there doesn't seem to be that big need (or even ability) to fully "pre-book" your day.

If we take a view that we are not interested in the dining options, and we would expect park availability not to be an issue, is there any reason why we wouldn't just book tickets a day in advance? I understand we can then go to the app at 7am ish in the morning and book rides.

Have I missed anything?

What happened to your Covid cancelled trip tickets?
Also need to know if you are staying on property ?
You will need to make park pass reservations in advance .

Everything fully refunded in the end!

We would not be staying on property. We would miss out on the Opening Hours but can live with that. Also we plan on doing other things outside of Disney so don't want to overpay for Disney hotels if we are spending the days outside of Disney.
