Any RCI Points members around? (m)

We are planning a trip to Orlando in late April 2006, and plan to use my parents' RCI Points. They may or may not accompany us, so not sure if we'll need 2 or 3 bedrooms.

Anyway, they've done points exchanges before (their weeks are actually in early November at the Crane in Barbados) but i'm not sure if they fully understand the process. Some of things they've said seem different from what the RCI website said (the part I could access as a non-member). So, I thought I'd ask you guys.

If you're using Points, do you have to exchange full weeks, or can you use your points to get the number of nights you want? I thought you could do exchanges on the website, but Dad always calls even though it's long distance for us in Barbados - does he really have to call? Or can anyone tell me a better way? Mum says you can only request an exchange a certain amount of time beforehand, since the owners of the particular week have to decide if they're taking it or releasing it for exchange - is this true for all resorts, or do some in Orlando (like the ones you can rent by the night) work differently? How do I make sure I get a villa for the time I want (dates will be more important than property) - since there are several RCI properties in Orlando, can I request a whole list of properties and take whatever becomes available, or do I have to request one property at a time?

boy your parents have not worked the system to their advantage at all.

I don't have points - but I am pretty sure you are right - it can be for days not the entire week.

I can use RCI online system without problems. However I think it depends upon the resort - if you parents are personally paying for their membership then you can too. If however they are going through their timeshare ownership - I don't think so.
