Any QUIET and NICE beaches in Florida that...

I like Clearwater Beach. It is about 1 hour from Disney and there are lots of things to do.
They have a beautiful public beach, a HUGE playground for the kids, lots of little things to pay for like the bungee jump and a huge trampoline, lots of stores in the area for things youmight have fogotten like a boogie board or sand toys, and a Pirate cruise that is great for kids.
the restaraunts on the beach are good, and not that expensive either. You can get a great lunch for under $10.00. Drinks too if you need!
You can find hotels on the beach that will be expensive, or stay off the causeway for alot less. It is about 15 minutes from the center of town to the beaches on the island. N o fees to get over the causeway, but they do have street parking with meters. (free if you have a handicap hangtag)

I like Clearwater Beach. It is about 1 hour from Disney and there are lots of things to do.

But Clearwater is not a quiet beach... in fact, we were there last year, and is exactly what I am not looking for... that place is a zoo. I watched a guy wash his feet in a drinking fountain...

We spent a nice quiet day on a beach to the south of St Petersburg some years back. St Pete was pretty quiet but of course Tampa is right there too.

if you want quiet - how about Venice? it's between Ft Myers and Sarasota, so there are other things to go see/do, but it is farther than 10 minutes away. If you go, try Inn at the Beach - walk across the street to the city beach.

another vote for Pensacola Beach...

We have been to Grayton Beach several times and loved it. It's about 20 mins away from SanDestin. Grayton Beach is pretty quiet, with a very small dead end street with maybe one or 2 little restaurants and shops. The beach itself is gorgeous and never crowded. There is lots to do in SanDestin, as well as Seaside, which is between Grayton and SanDestin.

I second the Siesta Key and Venice area, too. That Sarasota Jungle Garden is one of my favorite places, so fun and hidden. Long Boat Key is pretty cool, too.

I am from Destin!! Lived across the bridge in Niceville my entire life!! It is a really great place!! The good thing about staying in a condo on the beach is that some of the condos have their own private beach so you have a nice quiet area to relax! Also Henderson beach is really nice! There is a small fee to get in because it's a "state park" but that keeps mostly families on that beach and it even has a little playground up by the grills! And there is a tons for kids to do and great shopping and restaurants! If you decide to go there and need any suggestions just PM me!! :thumbsup2

Here is a popular condo rental place at the end of Holiday Isle
Each unit is photogrphed and each unit's view-some face the beach and some face the pass-where all the boats go out of
They have a huge bar-b-q "hut" there and the entrance is locked -so only people staying there have access

Destin IS a nice place, but it has become so BUSY...as well as wall-to-wall condos. It's kind of like Disney World without the theme parks. My folks have an annual time share in Destin...the traffic can be unbearable at times. Where can all those folks be going?

If NICE and QUIET is your desire, check out Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach, or even Mexico Beach east of Panama City.
