Any problems with low $$ Airtran flights?

We are looking at flying out of Indy for $49 each way with direct flights. I found the fares on Airtran's website. When I get ready to purchase the tickets, with all the fees it ends up being about $128 a person. I just wanted to know if there is anything wrong with these numbers. It sounds too good to be true. Anyone have any experience using Airtran and their web specials?

I have a friend that flies Airtran all the time with rates like that. I have been able to get close enough and sometimes cheaper with SWA so i haven't flown with Airtran.

SWA is starting to get way higher with less discounts so we also will be taking a look at Airtran from now on.

The biggest advantage with SW was how easy and free it was to change flights and so forth but with out the savings on top of that it all evens out.

I almost always fly AirTran out of the Quad Cities International Airport. Not always the most convenient times (aka very early morning). But, the price usually can't be beat. My only complaint is that they won't take pre-paid credit cards. I get those in my sales job and save them all year to pay for my WDW trips. I have to go get travelers checks and then use those to pay for airfare.

Never had any problems with them losing my luggage or anything. The seats aren't as plush as Delta, but I have enought of my own "padding" to compensate. LOL!

The only difference is you will be paying alot less for your ticket than some others on the plane.

no tricks or hidden fees - we got a similar rate last year booking Airtran through Disney travel. This year we are flying SW for more - YIKES! Was hoping it would go down after I booked but no such luck - ENJOY YOUR GOOD FORTUNE!!!!

We're booked out of Indy for that rate too! I expect no problems. They have satellite radio that you can use during takeoff! :cool1: Only flown Airtran once, no problems at all, but Sis flies them all the time. Again, no problems other than occasional rearranging of her flight schedule. (like all the other airlines these days)

Have a great trip, we used Airtran last winter and are doing it agian. Our home airport wanted $279pp, we are on airtran a little bit of a driver away at only $128 also pp. We loved them, their staff was great and you cannot beat the price.

We flew AirTran 2 years ago for $59 one way---PIT to MCO and returning also. Not a single problem.

This year we are flying Southwest down for $59 and AirTran back for $59. Plus now you are able to pay $5 per person to get your seat ahead of time on AT. (not that I wanted to, but I did). Southwest still has the ABC boarding passes in order to get a seat.

Both of our flights are non stop and leave at decent times, so I have no complaints so far! If there are any, I'll let you know about them in about 12 days when I get back home! :cool1:

When I fly Southwest or Airtran out of PHL on the $49 flights, that is what my total comes too.

Airtran is fine. We like them better than Southwest for a lot of reasons. You can now also rebook your flights at lower fares with them for a $5 per ticket fee. You can also pick your seats with them for $5 too. XM radio, friendly and efficient staff.....good service for the price. My only complaint is that they do change their flight times a lot (sometimes by a few hours) but if you do morning flights it usually isn't a big change.

I pretty much am indifferent to Southwest or Airtran and fly whoever has the $49 fare and time I want. I haven't paid more than $49 in over 2 years so I am loving both airlines:love:
