Hi there,
Just wondering of people who have been to POR lately have any positive comments? We'll be @POR 8/20-8/27. Also, what are expectations for Disney resorts? It just seems that there have been more negative than positive comments lately..not just POR, but Disney resorts in general. I honestly don't think the Disney resort rates are a whole lot more than any other resort of the same category so I go expecting convenience, friendly service, and if the magic happens, it happens,if not, we make our maigc. i'm just happy to be on vacation!!:earsgirl:

My family and I (wife and 2 kids, 2 and 4) just returned form POR (May 11-16) and we found the resort to be fantastic. We had a room in the Alligator Bayou section near the food court. The room was recentely refurbished and was brand new. The bell man confirmed this and he reported all the rooms are now complete. We never waited more than 15 min for a bus from the resort to anyt of the parks. Going home from the parks is always busy but the buses came pretty fast. The grounds are very beautiful with lots of plants and trees. We swam in both the small pool near our room and the large pool with the slide. If you go in the morning, the pools are empty. I think most people are in the parks. The food court was good. Everthing we tried was very good except for the pizza, it was bad. We took the boat from POR to Downtown Disney and that was a nice ride. We rented a surrey bike and enjoyed that. The resort in my book is definatley A+.

I stayed there in February 2004 and loved everything about it!

We were there April 29th to May 3rd and we had a great time. We are DVC members and have been staying at Deluxes or Villas since 2001 so we thought we might be disapointed. We weren't at all. Everything was lovely, our room was great. We loved the place. The playground is the best one on WDW I have ever seen. The pool is great too.

Our room had a refridgerater in it, and was a good size.

The busses were always very full, but we never had to wait long at all. I don't think we ever waited longer then 10 min, mostly it was like 3 to 5 min.

I am hoping we can get a good deal there in Jan so we can save up our DVC points (actually get out of our constant state of borrowing.) ;)

::MickeyMo Well, I was skepital too. March 05' Seems I have become a resort deluxe snob. BUT we always loved pors, (can't tell which one your staying at) so we decided it was time to try it out again.

We where doing wdw & a disneycruise (on our own) so we got to try out the pors, both sides. We started out in the bayou section building 38, and it was rustic and lovely, little duck pond out in front of our room, not band for std. :cheer2: It is a maze back there thou. I love the inside of the bayou rooms and the outside of the mansion rooms. We where very pleased with the large tv's and large fridges. lots of room, and very quiet, they didn't seem to put people all on top of each other, by looking at the lights on we rarely saw people next to each other, or over each other. Of course it was not really busy at this time. Our experience after the cruise was much more busy (closer to easter) We had a corner room parteree place waterview. Lovely, but the inside of the room, seems nice but plain in comparison. I liked that the lines to the pools / and resturants etc.. are straight forward but the out side takes you right in the middle of gone with the wind. The cm's where all wonderful. The food court was lacking a few times, but we attributed that to being a little slower, so not as good a turn over of food? Cause we still visit and eat there even if not staying.

I think you will be happily surprised. We where. My sister finally printed her pix's from her camera and they are lovely. PORS really is beauitful. The redo is just what it needed. Wish it was warmer when we where there and could of used the pool.

Have fun, mky princess:

We were there May 17-24th, and other than a probelm with a smoke smell (not the resorts fault imo), we loved it. We always do. I like the food court (best to not hit it right when everyone else is there, so we go about 7-7:30 for breakfast), the grounds, the pools, and of course Bob the Piano man!

:cool1:
We were at PORFQ and POR from 5-20 to 5-29 and loved everything about both resorts. The rooms have been recently re-done and are very nice. They used high-quality materials for the re-hab and it shows. Both resorts are gorgeous and you won‘t be disappointed. If you are just staying at one, take a short walk over to the other for dinner or a drink or even a swim as I think you can use both resort’s pools.
I have been to both resorts before but my friends, having only stayed at deluxes before, were very impressed with these resorts.
Go. Have a good time, knowing that you made an excellent choice in lodging at WDW.

POR has become our "home away from home" since moving to Florida. We have spent 4 week-ends there so far this year and will be back for a week later in June. It is definitely our favorite when you compare price, facilities. location, etc.

The only complaint that we have had was on one stay, we detected a strong smoke cigarette smell upon returning to our room from dinner (1st night). As the ventilation systems are connected, someone nearby was smoking in a non-smoking room and it was filtering though the bathroom vent. We called the front desk and were moved within 15 minutes.

We just returned from POR on Saturday. This was our first stay at POR. The grounds were really nice and the river running thru the resort with lots of activity and the boat ride to DTD was great. We didn't use the food court much, except for mug refilling in the morning. Bob Jackson was the highlight of the resort for us. He is so much fun and has so much energy. We planned to stay for 30 - 45 min but ended up staying for 1 1/2 hours. What a great entertainer!!! :flower: The buses ran consistantly, only having to wait up to 15 minutes at the most, and usually much less. Buses were full for the most part, but we were there over Memorial Day/ Star Wars Weekends/ start of GD, so it was to be expected. The location, we thought , was real good. Fairly close to everything. We even got our first, and only, towel animal!!! :goodvibes
