Just wondering if you felt out of place on these Disney Cruises. Most cruises are for the "beautiful" people.... walking around in their 2 piece suits and loving the sun. Will I feel comfortable wearing shorts instead of a swim suit all the time? Are the seats in the theatres roomy- what about the dining rooms- are the chairs there stable? Did you feel out of place or ok on your cruise?

I can't speak specifically to a Disney cruise, but the Carnival cruise I went on several years ago had WAY more "Pooh's" than "beautifuls." :) I also can't imagine anyone caring one bit if you wear shorts over your bathing suit - and trust me, I tend to be the Fashion Police, so I would tell you the truth! Don't sweat it and have a great time!

Disney is for family's and family's of all shapes and sizes, when we went on our first DCL cruise four years ago I topped out at a wopping 237 pounds and I am only 5'3, through the years with excercise and better choices I am down to 170 (still over weight) but I feel just as comfortable now as I did then, go and enjoy yourself don't even think about it!

Who cares if you are "pooh" sized..shake what your momma gave you!!! This is a Disney family cruise...not MTV party to go...lol. Where whatever is most comfortable for you...I hope you have a terrific time...and most importantly RELAX!

LOL dharma! I am also "pooh sized" I am 5'9" and I wear a size 18 I had not been in a swimsuit for atleast 5 years before our cruise. Well, I DIDN"T care!:D I didnt flaunt it, but I certainly didn't try to cover up the whole trip. My husband thinks i'm beautiful and that is all that matters to me. I didn't pay a fortune for my vacation to worry about what other people think of me. Karebear....I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The chairs in the theater were a tiny bit snug for my size 18 butt, but I did fine. Don't worry about it, you'll have a wonderful time.

I too am "pooh" sized. The only thing that bothered me was the pictures of me that were posted in Shutters. They immediately came down and into the waste bins. There were many larger, much much larger than I. I never felt out of place or like the chairs were going to collapse underneath me.

Ann! Congratulations on your weight loss! That is wonderful! I hope also this year to make better choices, exersize more (I sit all day behind a desk) and get down a few sizes before the big birthday cruise.

LOL!!! :teeth: That is just too funny! I just don't know what to say after that!

You can see what I looked like on our cruise last summer by clicking on the link in my signature, then scroll down a little to my 'Royal Caribbean Cruise - pictures" page. I'm the LARGE one of the 3 women in my pictures. The other two beautiful and thin women are my dear sisters in law :) Anyway...that was our first cruise and about a week before the cruise I kept looking through the brochure and seeing all these thin people in the pictures. I got really bummed out and wasn't excited about the cruise anymore. A good friend of mine talked some sense into me. I went on the cruise and had the best time of my life! DH and I had such a great time on that cruise that we decided to cruise again this year, this time on Disney! :) There were people of all shapes, sizes, ages, etc on that cruise, and I now know that that's the way it is on ALL cruises. Have a wonderful time and enjoy yourself!!

Ann: Wow, congrats on the weight loss!!! I'm feeling inspired, I want to start back on a good healthy eating plan.

Robin: You and your family are beautiful! :)

You all have made me feel a lot better! Thank You!! Seaspray and TnRobin- Thanks for the links to the pics. I am "pooh-ier" then both of you, but I am planning on losing some weight before anyway. Now- can you suggest excursion that you all felt comfortable on. I have this awful vision of me trying to get into a boat from the water.... NIGHTMARE! I'd love to do the kayaking, and the stingray. Any other ideas?

Too funny - I just got done looking at the DCL DVD I received, guess I qualify for the Heifer Class!!! I couldn't believe how "pretty" and thin everyone looked!!Watching the people in the gym and on deck doing aerobics with Gooffy! I was more interested in seeing a picture of SCOOPS!

On my first couple of cruises, I was "poohsized". So what. I didn't let that bother me and we had a great time. Especially on the thursday nite chocolate dessert buffet.
Now, though not beautiful, I am much lighter and Pooh is still one of my favorite characters.
Having said all that, it is probably easier for a guy to not care. Don't let others dictate the fun that you have.

It was once said on these boards: "I'd rather be Ariel-size than Pooh-size, but that coconut top thing looks really, really uncomfortable!"

Here's to all the Poohs--we are ON VACATION--just have fun.

Hubby recently lost 50 pounds and I lost 25 (I still have a way to go), but even before the weight loss, we have never felt uncomfortable on a Disney cruise. I've run around in a swimsuit, used the pools, hot tub, and Rainforest, and had massages and treatments in the spa. I've seen plenty of other pooh sized people, including some who were quite a bit larger than me, and they seemed to be having a great time too. I don't think anyone worries what anyone else looks like because everyone is having such a good time. You can see pics of hubby and I on my website.

Well thank heavens for this board!!! I too am pooh sized (after eating all of rabbits honey). I am a single parent taking my 2 children on our first cruise in December. I was a bit concerned about looking out of place but you have all put my mind to rest. Not only do I feel less self conscience but you have all given me quite a chuckle with some of your replies. Keep on posting!

Thank you for asking about this. I too am a Pooh. We are planning to cruise end of March, and I am also concerned about comfort Thank you, Thank you.

I can't help but laugh at ALL of us! Don't we all feel MUCH BETTER now? I know I do! I was afraid to ask this because .... well, I guess it's kinda like an AA meeting.... Hi, my name is karen, and I'm a pooh sized person. HA! Well- maybe now that I have admitted to myself what the whole world already knows about me, I'll be able to get past this bump and move forward! And to think ... I had anxiety over posting this question...... silly 'ol bear!

POOH POWER !!!

I also feel MUCH BETTER!!! Thanks everyone for the words of wisdom.:sunny:

I weighed in at 303 on my second. I was 337 when I went on our 7 day. I in no way ever felt uncomfortable. I was in my bathing suit in the pool and on the beach. The truth is I didn't care about the pictures in Shutters. I cared about how happy my husband and child were and how happy I was myself.

I can honestly say nothing was ever said to make me feel bad. I went on Captian Marvin's stingray city tour and due to an illness was concerned about getting back on board the little boat. The guys were like forget it we will get you on, get out and have fun.

I felt more comfortable on the cruise then I ever felt on any other vacation.
