My DS, age SIX,(that's six years, not six months) will only drink warm milk. Do you think it would be gross to buy a small carton of milk and let it sit for a few hours before he drinks it??

Or, is there a place to warm milk or can I order it in the restaurants??

And the other lesson here.....Wean you baby off of warm milk ASAP!!! LOL

I keep thinking he'll outgrow it!

You don't say where you are staying but most food courts have a microwave.

I don't know how quickly milk can get germs being kept out of the fridge to get it at room temp???

I understand that your DS is six but Gerber sells a small bottle warmer. This is a great little gadget and the last time I purchased one, it only cost $10. I don't think it is a good idea to keep milk out.

Maybe if you buy him the bottle warmer and explain that you have to use this device that is for babies you can lead him to drinking cold milk. I would love to get my 2 year old off from the bottle. The battles we fight as parents! Good luck!

This isn't the most economical solution but it's safe and easy. If your DS will drink milk at room tempature you could get juice size boxes of parmalat milk. It comes with a straw like a juice box. I keep them in the house because DD isn't a big milk drinker and I got tired of throwing milk away each week. She enjoys these when she's in a milk mood.

Why don't you just buy the parmalot boxes? They come in the same sizes as juice boxes. They will remain at room temp. You only need to refridgerate after opening.

All hotels have microwaves. I'm sure that any resturant you eat at will also warm the milk for you.

Because I have had 2 babies 18 months apart, I am a pro at warming bottles. I bought a stainless steel thermos at Walmart and fill it with boiling hot water before I go out. The water stays very hot all day long and will heat many bottles/cups during the day. I got a kick when I read about weaning because we are in the process of weaning my daughter off formula onto milk before our big trip. Good luck!!

We use the parmalat milk boxes as well, they are great for on the fly. Due to the pasturization process they can be stored a room temperature. I send them with an ice pack for my girls with lunch but you could just serve them to him warm.

Thanks!

Where do you get the parmalat milk boxes??? I have never seen them up here in the Pacific Northwest.

And dizney dreamin', How do you get the bottle warm from the thermos??

I fill the thermos up about half way and when it's time to heat the bottle, open up the thermos and drop the bottle in. It heats up in a minute, reseal the thermos and it's ready for the next bottle hours later!
I also forgot about the baby care centers that are located in each park- you can warm up bottles/cups in there.
Have fun!

Here in MA I usually find the parmalat milk in the baking aisle by the evaporated milk. One store has them with the powdered drink mixes and ice cream cones? Before I used the product I did some research, if you like start with www.parmalatusa.com . They may also have a feature where you can locate the product near you. I was able the find them in FL during our grocery stop in August so I know its available in FL.

I think DD meant she pours the hot water into a cup and warms the milk bottle with the warm water?? - Its been a while for me!!

Have a great trip.

At my grocery store, they are in the coffee aisle near the fake creamer and now the soy milk.

Also, if your child likes chocolate milk, Hershey's has those with the pasteurized milk (and it's not chocolate drink,it's real low fat milk). I send these with my DD almost every day with her snack. It's our compromise since her friends all have things like Capri Sun and Hi C.

Isn't it funny the habits our kids develop so innocently?

Every store is different! The ones around me tend to keep in on the juice aisle, on the shelf right next to the boxed juices. My store stocks whole, 2%, and chocolate milk in the small boxes.

I've also found it in the baking aisle once, but only the larger boxes (1 quart), not the small "juice box" type, so they'd still need to be refrigerated.

You may have to look around a bit...took me awhile to find it since I was looking on the coffee aisle where it was in our last city!

Haha...I just found this thread from years ago...

DS is 8 now and I'm happy to say he likes cold milk....yay!

They always do grow out of, don't they?

Each park has baby care centers and I am pretty sure they have microwaves in them to warm bottles up for babies.

First off, Cute puppy! I guess he's over 5 now too! Anyway did you bring Parmalat. We did just because we're cheap and didn't want to spend big $$ on milk everyday. My kids drink tons of it. :thumbsup2

Cute trick. Look for some other old threads!

Can you get a large cup of hot water from the CS places and put the bottle of cold milk in it to warm up? Or get an empty cup and get hot water from the bathroom. The milk isn't actually touching the water so it should be ok. That way you don't have to "plan ahead."

Had to laugh when I read this thread. We stayed in a condo with friends this summer who warm milk for their 4 1/2 year old every day. Well, the microwave at the condo broke and the parents heated the milk on the stove the rest of the week. They griped about it, but kept doing it! I may send her a link to this thread to let her know there is a light at the end of the warm milk tunnel!!

Hi, we're in the NW too. :) Just the other day I was at our local Super-Walmart and saw that they have small cartons of Horizon Organic Milk that is also not refrigerated. Now if I could just remember what aisle it was on... I think it was on the same row with the dry cereals. Anyway, check there. I was thinking about getting some of those for my ds for our trip (checking in luggage, double wrapped in ziploc bags of course). Walmart had white milk and chocolate flavored.
