Any place nearby, not on property, you would recommend for T-giving?

I have called (and will continue calling) for ADRs for 10 for T-giving dinner, but the CMs say EVERYthing is booked out. I got reservations at Rainforest Cafe, but family members will balk at having to go into AK to eat. They will want easy in and out, like with valet parking at one of the hotels.

Anyone got any thoughts of something nice away from the parks? Not a chain, preferably. Anything at Gaylord Palms, etc.?? (not too far as traffic may be bad) Any recommendations or reviews?

RFC at AK is not inside the park. Its entrance is before you get to the gates of the park.

Thanksgiving is an incredibly busy time. You can try the Rosen Hotels. They have many nice restaurants and may have some room. The Peabody is another option.

Chains are what make the area run, so finding a privately owned restaurant that is open on Thanksgiving and near WDW will be tough.

There are two privately owned lovely restaurants near where I live but I don't know if they are open for the holiday, nor are they necessarily very close to WDW being a solid 15-20 minutes north.

You can try the restaurants in Celebration, FL. They may have an opening.

Many, many people go out for Thanksgiving in this area, so it's not necessarily easier to get a reservation off property than on.

I like the Solaris at the Marriott World Center. This is a very large restaurant. Breakfast is a wonderful buffet (about 70 feet long). Lunch is menu and dinner you have a choice of dinner or buffet. I would expect that for Thanksgiving they would have the buffet open, with meats carved to order.

(Actually since I have to meet some people at WDW at noon, I think I am going there today for breakfast.)

Someone recently mentioned that the Swan had a special thanksgiving day meal in their ballroom, that may be an option too
