We are planning a trip for a few days between Christmas and New Year. Are we Insane? Have any of you done this before?

I just started a new job and I get Christmas week and a week in July for plant Shutdown. We thought we would rather deal with the crowds of Christmas than the heat of July.

Any advice?

We'll be there with you! This will be our third time down over the holiday week. Sure, it's crowded (really crowded) but there's so much going on and the mood is fantastic...we don't even plan on doing the attractions, so if we get on...it's like a bonus. Planning (to me) is important. We make sure to get ADR's right at the 90 day mark for the meals and shows most important to us. We're also early risers and have found morning EMH to be beneficial. Haven't tried EMH at night over the holidays, but don't see that it would be that effective because the parks are open late anyway.

Hope you go and have a great time. See ya there!

We'll be there!! This will be our first trip during the holidays. We usually go during the summer. Yes, it is hot, but we live in SC so we are accostumed to being hot. We are a little worried about the crowds, but are trying not to let it get to us. My parents decided they wanted to see the parks around Christmas time and they invited my DW, DD, and I. We are all looking forward to it. I hear the decorations are incredible!!

This will be our first trip between Christmas and New Years too. We will get done what we can, and enjoy the fact that we are there.

We're going too! The crowds may be insane :scared1: , but we are so looking forward to seeing Mickey at Christmas time! Have a great trip!

Get to the MK early if you plan to go. It will probably shut down to guests about 10AM and again about 2:30PM just about every day. I don't remember if Epcot shuts down or not, probably not since it is so big.

We plan to arrive late afternoon on Dec. 23 and stay until the morning of Dec. 31. The crowds will be huge, but I'm already planning and researching when the best times (least crowded) will be. It seems that getting to parks early is the best....except that EMH parks will surely be the busiest, so you have to consider that, too! It's gonna be great, no matter what!! :earsgirl:

We will be there too! :bounce: 12-23 to 12-28 at POR. I am driving my husband and DS's (2) crazy. We haven't been in a long time...okay I had to hear how I was a mean parent from the CM when I made the reservation...so, please don't flame me. We are all pretty excited and I have warned everyone that the crowds will be crazy, but I thought it would be really neat to see Disney all decorated for the holiday.

Can't wait to see you all down there...it'll be great.

Shawn :flower3:

Hey, we will be staying at POR too. We'll be arriving on Dec. 26, so maybe we'll see you there!!

I will be arriving Dec 26 as well!
Staying at Poly, 26, 27, 28
On the 29th we go to Port Canaveral for a 4 day Disney Cruise (New Years).
We return on 1/2 and are staying at Pop 2 nights and going home the evening of 1/4.
I hear so much about how huge the crowds will be. I'm not sure though- the parks will be open extra hours, a lot of people already just went in Sept/Oct due to these great deals/free diing etc. I'm hoping that will take away from the crowds some.
I *love* how beautiful all the resorts and parks look at Christmas though! I'm so excited!

It's our first time during the Holidays too. We'll be there Dec 25-30th, staying in Fort Wilderness. I'm a little nervous about the crowds but I know it will be magical no matter what :earsboy:
