I was wondering if there are any other vegas (or vegetarians) that have recently been to WDW and can share their food experiences. There was a great post under the Disney Dining forum that covered I think 8 days of vegetarian eating, but I would love to read about more experiences from non-meat eaters.

I'm not a vegan , probably not even a true vegetarian, but I do not eat meat (occasionally I'll do seafood). We were at WDW last November and I found lots of great foods - although there was a lot of cheese involved. Lets See--

The buffets were great. We did Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare as well as Breakfastosaurus. Breakfast was the typical fare, so it was easy to find cereals, fruits, waffles, etc. The dinners were also easy as there were choices of salads, veggies, pasta, etc. It seems like the Crystal Palace especially had some more unusual and tofu based dishes and I definitely preferred it to 1900 Park Fare. But there was plenty to choose at both buffets and they were both *yummy*. (Plus the characters are so much fun!)

We ate a couple of meals at ASMo Food Court. I remember having cheese pizza there, which was fine - nothing special but tasty and filling. And then we had waffles one day for breakfast.

Another day for breakfast we went to Main Street Bakery in MK and they had some yummy pastries, etc - not the healthiest , but hey, it was vacation!

I was longing for a veggie burger so we did go to Cosmic Ray's twice. The first time it was late at night and the grill was already closed. I was really disappointed as I didn't know that it closed early and I was starving. I ordered the veggie wrap - it was OK but I wasn't thrilled with it. Of course it was late and it had probably been sitting there for awhile plus I'd wanted my veggie burger so it all added to the just OKness of it. I wouldn't recommend that sandwich unless you are desperate (I was!) The second time I got my veggie burger and it was quite good. They have a bar there where you can top your burger and I was pretty happy with it all around :)

We also ate at Pinocchio Village Haus ( can you tell we have little ones and spent a lot of time at MK? ) I had a pretty good veggie pizza there as well as your basic side salad. Not bad for CS.

At Blizzard Beach I ordered a chicken caesar salad without chicken ( I can't remember if they left it off or I took it off - remember a lot of CS meals are pre-made so you may have to remove stuff yourself. ) I remember it being a nice cool lunch entree. Fresh and cold. Salads are always good when you're hot, you know?

Probably the best CS I had was the ABC Comissary in MGM. I had some kind of veggie noodle stir fry type entree there and it was REALLY good ! Really fresh and didn't seem like CS at all.

My favorite TS was Kona Cafe. We just had a wonderful experience there - my DH (serious meat lover ) was thrilled with Kona and my little ones (picky eaters ) both found stuff they'd eat. Plus it was a calm and relaxing dinner and just one of my most magical evenings all around. They have a killer salad at Kona - with blue cheese and lots of other stuff ( strawberries, I think - sounds unusual but it was GOOD!) . Totally unforgettable. I did have a crab appetizer there - and I must say that it was delish! They also had some kind of noodle dish that was really good. Overall one of the best meals I'd had in any restaurant (not just WDW).

Now, my most disappointing meal was 50s Prime Time. I can't say that it was a total bust, because it is a really fun place and the dessert (smores) was a hoot and totally fabulous and big enough to share w/ our whole tabe ( and probably tables around us if we'd wanted to ). But the vegetarian entree was awful. It was a pepper stuffed with grains and rice and a couple of veggies. It was dry and just terrible. I don't think the rice had cooked long enough. My sister and I both ordered it and were both disappointed. Although I would still go back there again - just for the fun atmosphere. I just wouldn't go real hungry - maybe just order an appetizer and a salad.

We also ate at the Cinderellas Royal Table and my pickins were slim - although I looked at their menu recently and it looks like they changed it and they now have a cheese tortellini which looks good. I did have yummy spring roll appetizer there. The thing is - even though the food wasn't good for me ( it was great for dh and dkids ) the atmosphere was a definite TEN!!! I would have gone again just for the atmosphere even if I'd just had a side salad. It is such a magical place to eat. We did it our last night at WDW and would love to do that again next time.

I'm sure that there was more but I can't remember - Here's my advice:
Check out all of the menus on All Ears Net before you go so you can get an idea of the offerings. Also - I didn't realize that TS restaurants may have something not on the menu for vegetarians or may make you something special or substitute veggies for meat in some dishes. At CRT I was eyeing ds's pasta bake and realized later while reading the DIS that I probably could have ordered that. Which brings me to - sometimes the kids menu may have something you'd rather have, especiallty at CS - like a pasta, grilled cheese, etc. I will know for next time that things at most restaurants are probably more flexible than you'd think.

After not eating meat for several years I've had to adjust when going out in my day to day life, going to peoples houses, etc. I've been known lots of times to just have a salad and some side dishes for dinner. So you are probably used to adjusting your meals in real life . WDW has some GREAT food - so if you plan a bit ahead of time you can find some really yummy stuff eat and the atmosphere is unbeatable :)

We just returned on Monday from a stay at Pop and I have to say, there were more vegetarian choices this time than I have ever had before. I used to have to make special arrangements at the food court for veggie burgers but they are now on the menu as well as vegetarian lasagna with the veggie burger crumble in it.
My best meal was at the Coral Reef. Delicious mushroom soup that had a vegetable base and vegetable strudel that was outstanding!
The cuban sandwich at Sunshine Season was very good but I thought it was overpriced at $7.59 considering that it didn't come with anything (glad we had the free dinng plan!)
The vegetable sandwich at Tusker House was also very good and they let me sub fries for the grapes.
Kona Cafe was excellent. They have 2 vegetarian entrees on the menu, one was an asian noodle dish that they can sub tofu for the meat and one is a rice and vegetable dish. They let me order an appetizer portion of the rice dish and I had the noodles for my entree. Both were so yummy!
Our biggest disappoints were the California Grill and Chef Mickey's. I had the Vegetarian Unplugged at the California Grill which consists of 5 or 6 small portions of different vegetarian things on the menu. In the past each selection was interesting, a little unusual and artfully presented. This time it was very ordinary, like something I might make at home, such as a spoonful of mashed potato, a couple of small pieces of roasted potato, a spoonful of polenta with some mushrooms on top, some wilted greens and a tiny flatbread with onions. Even the meat eaters in our party were disappointed with their meal here and felt that it wasn't worth the 2 table service points that they charge here.
We went to Chef Mickey's for lunch and the chef couldn't have been less helpful. The people that put the food out were very nice and said that they could make me a vegetarian version of almost anything that was on the buffet, just ask the chef when they sent him to my table. When he finally arrived about 15 min. later, he did his best to talk me out of ordering anything special saying that it would take 20 min. to cook. He also seemed really annoyed that someone had told me that they would prepare something special for me. Finally, he reluctantly agreed to make me a frittata without the bacon. About 50 min. later, after everyone in our party was done and about to leave, he brought out my little, individual frittata. It was really good but I'm not sure it was worth the trouble.
