I saw the other posts about giving testamony and if you think that God is an E.T. and thought I would ask a quesiton of my own.

I know I can't be the only UU on this board (for those who don't get the abrev. it is Unitarian Universalist).

Maybe we can get some chatter going about what our local fellowships and churches are doing.

I'm not a UU, but I went to an amazing memorial service at a local church last year. I loved the elements, which included some Judaism, some Chrisitianity and a lot of the person being honored.

I've briefly considered joining a UU church so that my future kids would have *some* sort of religious identification. For right now, I'm going to try to raise them as free-thinkers (athiest/agnostic) as long as they're comfortable with that. If they ever want to join a church before the age of 18, the only church that I would be OK with would be a UU church.

Do you mean you wouldn't let them join another church or you wouldn't join with them?

UU is the only church that is in line with my personal beliefs, so I would be OK if our kids wanted to join the UU church before the age of 18. I would go with them to a UU church, but I don't know if I'd join with them. DH definitely wouldn't. DH and I would not be comfortable allowing them to attend any other church, however. That would be out-of line with our personal beliefs. If they want to join another church after the age of 18, then there is nothing that I can do to stop them. I also wouldn't say a thing about it if they did so, as I believe that that would only push them towards it even more.

This is what drew me to it in the first place. I study a lot of different religions and I was pleased to find a place that helps you develop your own spirituality instead of trying to fit you into a specific mold.

A UU here. Unitarian Church of Barnstable,MA.

Hi I am in Montgomery, AL - lots more UU churches in MA than in AL.::yes::

A UU from the Twin Cities here!
(I think I heard that per capita the Twin Cities has the most UU's outside of Boston.)
