My fiance and I just purchased our AP at the beginning of this month!! We were so excited we decided to drive down to the park just for that day! We live near Sacramento!! Will probably never do that again, but I am curious if anyone else in our area is an AP holder and how often they go? :fish:

We are AP holders and live in Vacaville. We try to go down 3 times a year. Usually stay for 4 days per trip.

We (wife, kids and I) live in sacto and had APs before. One year we made 5 trips. We'll be getting APs again a week from today. We're planning on getting in at least 3 trips before they run out.

This girl right here! My DD4 and me have deluxe AP's, my husband doesn't like to play Disney with us so we ditch him. I try to get 3 trips in annually and stay at least 4 days per trip.

We fly usually, but only because I have a southwest card and use miles. I don't mind driving, but obviously flying is preferred.

We are! We live in Elk Grove! We usually go about 3-4 times a year. One longer family vacation and then a couple shorter trips for rundisney events and christmas decorations. Sadly no christmas trip for us this year due to the block out days on the deluxe. My next trip is January and it seems like its so long away! We always drive.

I live in Davis and got my first deluxe AP in March. I have been 3 times so far this year: 2 days in March with my mom, 2 days in May for the 24hr celebration (solo), and 4 days in June with DS7. I'm planning on 2 more trips before my AP expires. DH is a lukewarm Disney fan, so most trips are either solo or just with my mom or DS7. My two upcoming trips will probably be solo, unless all this Star Wars stuff convinces DH to join me!

We fly. Like nicoli, I use SW points and hardly ever pay for a flight. I love that you drove down just for the day! Believe me, I have considered it, but I hate driving. I have even considered flying down for the day, catching the 1st morning flight and taking the last one back home at the end of the day. This weekend we are flying down for a trip to LEGOLAND, no DLR, BUT after we get settled into our hotel in Carlsbad I may sneak up for a few hours of solo DLR time. Hey, it's only an hour drive so why not??!!

Have fun with your AP!!

Thats awesome! Curious how the Southwest points work..ill have to look into it. That might be a huge time saver for us! My fiance is all about star wars also!

We live in Modesto, so at least an hour closer than you. We did not do a one day trip with our APs this year. It's at least a 5 hour drive, and can vary depending on SoCal traffic. When we lived in Las Vegas it was only 4 hours, and less variation, so one time we did a one day up and back trip. This last year we began with a big family trip for 5 days, went for an overnight trip to see Halloween and then a 2-night to see Christmas, then we did one more big family 5+ day trip. Next time we get APs I'm going to try to go every month with the goal being that we go at least every other month. We've only driven. It would be silly to pay for air tickets only to have to drive the hour and a half to an airport, wait to board, fly, then deal with transportation to the parks. But if you're in Sacramento, then you're a lot closer to an airport so it's not as big of a hassle.

I live in Sac and have an AP. In the past, we have had them for my whole family, but this year I just got one since I am planning a few solo trips. I try and make 3-4 trips (3-5 days in the parks) down there (my family lives in So CA too...so that makes it easier).
I both fly and drive...just depends on the trip.

I sometimes fly jetblue too because they occasionally have $39 each way to LGB from Sacramento. Can't beat $90 roundtrip flights...

I live in Chico and have had an AP for the past several years. I fly down with my friend, disneyluvr2 (who also lives in Chico), about 4 times/year. We have SW cards and use points. I have a trip in December with my sister and booked our flights during one of the good sales, which cost $98 RT each (pretty cheap!) if you paid $$ but was only about 9,000 SW points for both. As a reference, I just got a 1-way flight from SMF to SNA for 7,000+ points. That's just me flying 1 way. I try to avoid those pricier flights but it was a semi- last minute decision to attend Dapper Day, LOL. I usually go a total of 5-6 times/year and almost always fly, but it depends on how many tickets I'm paying for!

I don't live in Sac, but kinda of close, I'm in Richmond and I have an AP! I go at least 3 times a year, usually two 2 day trips (one with each niece) and a longer 4-5 day trip with my cousin who also has an AP! This year I went one day in February while on a college road trip with my niece, then June, September, and November!! :)

$98 is definitely cheap for that route these days. I got my flights for dapper day back in July for 8,126 points for two tickets each way, which I think equals out to be about $70/each way.

If your driving down the 99, when you go thru Tulare give me a wave.
We do 5 or more trips a year. With a 4 y/o and a 7 y/o it's easier to divide and conquer. DGS7 is getting braver so I get to do some big kid rides. DGD4 still won't go on the biggies.
Makes for a great excuse. More trips!

You want to get the Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card that offers 50,000 bonus points. That's what got me started! I use the card for all our household expenses so the points rack up, then I try to buy tickets when they are on sale to maximize the points. SW was having $49 fare sales from SMF to SNA on a fairly regular basis but I haven't seen those for awhile now. I hope they come back in the fall.

I am from Roseville. Back in 2000 through about 2005 I had a premium AP pass. I used to drive down every other month for a visit. Sometimes trips were just us, sometimes family would tag along. But we got alot of use of the AP from NorCal. But after my son was born, we decided to let our AP's go. We still made the trip once a year. But miss those good ol days when we would come back from a trip and start planning the next. We live in Texas now and miss having the ability to jump in the car at any time and head down to Disneyland. We actually did that a few weeks ago. Came home to visit and drove down to Disneyland for a vist.

Those 50k points is where it's at...I made my husband get one too just so we could have another 50,000 points.
