Any other passholders annoyed at rumors of possible 60 day blackouts for new attactions?

I am just curious if I am the only one out there who feels like Disney doesn't give a crap about their most loyal customer base, the APs!? We already get the short end of the stick on so many things, but they keep raising the prices and taking away benefits. Sorry....I love Disney A LOT....but they are starting to grate on my last nerve with this stuff. Anyone else have these feelings?

LOL. And while that is certainly true, and it is a business, I feel like the decisions that they have been making lately, in both the Parks and the Cruise Line are poor, and should be re-examined.

Nope not concerned at all. If they even do it, not a guaranteed thing anyway, I bet it will mainly affect Florida Resident passes which is what we have and its not uncommon for new things to start right around when we are blacked out anyway for the summer.

I guess that is where I am more affected than most. I am a Florida Resident. But, the way they are speaking is that it would affect any Gold level or lower annual pass. I don't really think being a Florida Resident makes a difference here. And while you are correct, that many times, attractions open in the summer, when they don't, it means being blacked out 3 months in the summer, 2 weeks at Christmas, 3 weeks at Spring Break and then another two months during the year for an attraction opening? It makes a person wonder what the point of being a passholder is anymore.

That's pretty messed up. It would make more sense to do the opposite. But I guess there are more people who would pay for access anyyway. They're totally missing the mark on building perceived value into the passes.

I am a florida resident also and not concerned. I don't see how they are going to execute it other than making everyone scan there ticket at the ride entrance. Now I could see it making a block on getting FP's but at 30 days out they are all gone anyway, unless staying on property. I guess I don't see it the whole thing really happening.

What I am actually understanding from what I was reading was not that you would be blacked out from the ride specifically, but from the Park in general during that 60 day window.

Remember a few years back there was a survey about how they were going to start giving more Fastpass+ selections to people in Deluxe resorts? And there was a big uproar? How'd that end up...

Do Florida residents have an Annual Pass option with no blackout dates that is cheaper than the Disney Platinum Pass offered for $750?

If I lived in Florida, in a part of Florida where driving to Walt Disney World was considered a day trip or less, I would definitely get whatever non-blackout pass I could. Again, speaking just on myself, I know others probably wouldn't...but if you had the option to be there the day something new opened, why wouldn't you want to ensure that you could get in?

I don't want to have to deal with any blackout dates living all the way up here...if I lived that close to the parks, when I could go whenever I want, I DEFINITELY wouldn't want to even have to think about blackout dates.

I guess so. I think my pass was like $650ish?

Edit, just looked at my contract. I paid $659.24 with tax.

Yes, Florida residents can buy any of the passes, they just get a bigger discount on the limited ones. Everyone (as of right now at least) gets about a 15% discount if they renew. I have what is now the Platinum Pass, it wasn't that when I got it. It actually expired yesterday and I weighed the pros and cons of going ahead and renewing now and saving 15% or waiting and buying a new one the next time I go, which probably won't be until around March or April. I know I'll get one because I go twice a year and average about 14 or 15 days so the AP is less than buying tickets. The only reason I was debating renewing versus buying a new one was I just got back last week and I pay off my cc bill every month, adding an additional $680 on top of the resort costs would stretch me a bit. My luck the pass will go up when I do decide to go ahead and buy it.

IMO..if this were to happen I can't believe it would be so strict. They could be thinking that they would want to cut down on the "day trippers", those that live nearby and do not stay on property...I wish I lived that close, I'd go all the time
Not every FAPH lives close by, I'm 6 hours away and always stay anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks. Back when my children where younger it was only possible to go at certain times of the year based on school and work. If this type system was in place back then, it would make me cancel a trip rather than go and not be able to go to a certain park that my family were counting on as a given.
I said in another thread that according to the current rules, you can let your AP expire and then buy a 3 day pass when your ready to go, after 2 days you can upgrade to an AP...2 days would be enough for any new attractions...as long as you can get a FP.
If enough people do not renew their passes, that will get their attention.... that's a source of revenue they count on.
On a side note...there should be a sticky thread for us Fl AP's ...it might be time with these kind of rumors and surveys

I suspect they also accomplished a thicker bottom line. We "upgraded" to the you-can-do-anything-with-these for 5 people. I'm sure we're not alone.

Another survey I received several months ago was about NEW RIDES ONLY being blocked for a period of time -- you'd still get in the park. Looks like they tested both ideas.
