The Running Thread --2025

Keep going like that and you'll get kicked off Team Not-So-Fast 😁😁
What she said....

For moi in October, ramping up my every-other-day half-@ssed running:
Running: 54.83 miles.
Total steps: ~200 miles. 355,927 total steps for the month

Yesterday's long run turned out a bit shorter than planned, but 6.06 miles at a 10:27 pace with RWR.
My overall avg pace keeps dropping, so I'm pretty pleased with that and expect to be trained up enough for MW 2026.

Its been a busy weekend but better late than never.

October Miles Running: 181.45 for a total time of 27:20:55... not sure if thats good or bad and I havent done the math for overall ave pace.
October Miles Walking: 3.7 AKA Trick or Treat w. kids lol
Thats a monthly mileage PR for me and if I am able to follow my current marathon plan I will beat that in November.

Average pace run: 6m41s/km

What a nice month weather wise. It allowed me to do twice as much cycling than running which in turn helped me to recover fully. Plus, the Fall colours were stunning.

Demi-Marathon au parc Jean Drapeau - 10k race report

That organization has mastered its recipe to deliver a complete and fun race experience (bib pickup before or day of, shirt included for free if registering a month prior, nice medal, chrono, podiums, lunch after, on course free photos). I couldn’t resist participating to their first race event in Montreal as all previous had been on the south shore. Given the state of my legs and training I had opted for the 10k.

I decided to treat myself to the onsite parking and, besides slightly balking at the high price of it, I never regretted it. I was able to go back to my car between warmup and race, race and lunch, and it was very close to the start/finish.

I had no goals, no expectations and no idea of my current state of fitness for a 10k. I placed myself in the second corral behind the 55 minutes pacer. I ran at a comfortable but sustained pace, my body giving me no reasons to slow down or accelerate.

The course was on F1 circuit Gilles Villeneuve and around the Olympic bassin and back to Espace 67. I finished in 54:51 which I am totally impressed with. It tells me that my base training is preparing me better than expected, even without any speed intervals.

Lunch was chili, pita, ice cream, banana and yogurt. There was also sparkling apple juice and zero alcohol beer.

I am really glad to have ran this race. It really shows the importance of measuring oneself. I would not have guessed that I had it in me after the difficult summer.

As for the hamstrings and hips, they did not even complain after the race, but my physio definitely found knots to work a few days later, reminding me that I still very much have to work on mobility and strength.

Insane. Checked his time and he ran it in 3:40 but given the later start it feels like a REALLY tight timeframe to finish and then get to Broadway for a 2 pm show. I hope he found time to shower?

I was doing the math in my head, too. He ran with Broadway Cares, so he may have started with the first wave. Still, the earliest that has him finishing is around 1:10. 🤯

At least he didn’t need green makeup???

This is exactly what I was thinking--I wouldn't even be able to finish in time to attend a matinee, let alone be prepared to perform in one, and as a main character no less. Heck, I'm not even sure I'd be finished and functional enough to make it to the 7pm show.

Also, he used to be a Dapper Dan!!

Also he was Gaston in the Beauty and the Beast show at HS. I saw him in Wicked on Broadway and he was amazing. I mean, the whole cast was mind blowing, but he’s also great. Now we need to get him to run MW with us.
