I have never walked in rain like that in my life! Six blocks from bus to work. The rain actually came THROUGH my umbrella. I am soaked from thighs down. Nothing like sitting in a wet pair of pants. UGH.

I dropped my son off at school and we were both soaked. I feel bad for all the kids having to be soggy in school. I actually just saw a peek of sun so maybe the rain is done.

I had to practically swim out to take care of my horses this morning. They weren't none too happy about it either.

:confused3

when I left my house this morning --- I live on Long Island -- it was raining, but not pouring. my commute -- LIRR, NYC subway and PATH -- is all indoors.

I work in Jersey City, 1/2 block from the PATH station. the rain was coming down in sheets, and the wind was blowing so hard that the rain was coming at me sideways. the street was starting to flood. didn't even bother with the umbrella, it would have broken if I'd tried to open it.

an hour later I'm still doing my imitation of a drowned rat.

Soaked down to the skivvies once I got to the office. Yeesh. Maybe I'll sit at my desk, in only my manties, giving my clothing a chance to dry off. Whatcha think?

YES!!! It was flooded all over my neighborhood - you couldn't cross the street without crossing a river. I was soaked to the skin thru my jacket! I bought a cheap blowdryer at Duane Reade and spent 20 minutes in the ladies room blow drying my pants!!

Completely soaked. I work over by Union Square and I couldn't cross a street without finding myself shin-deep in rushing water. Awesome. Tried to find a cab this AM - but I guess everyone else had that same idea.

This is clearly a day to have Chinese food delivered for lunch...

Go ahead, I dare ya!

It was pouring when I left the house (LI). pouring when I left the train, and even just walking across the street to my office (5 Penn Plaza), I got soaked. I've got my lunch, I'm not leaving this place until 4:30! I feel bad, I have 2 things to mail (a book I sold on Amazon, and a package for a ebay winner), but even working across the street to the post office is going to be nasty!

Another LIer who commutes into the city. Yup, sideways rain, rivers flowing down the street. By the time I got the office (luckily I was the only one here) I took off my socks and wrung them out in the trash pail. Was sitting here, pants wet up to my thighs when I realized my feet were getting wet...my pants dripped so much they made a puddle. By then it had let up some and I went out and bought a pair of yoga pants and thick fluffy socks.

No my boss calls and says he's on his way in...ummm I said, you know today is super casual day right?? He just said oh, okay...can't wait till I see the expression on his face when he sees this get up!! Could be worse though...I couldv'e had the same thoughts as Rick....

All of a sudden, all the umbrella's in my house are no where to be found. I run to my car to get one, so I can give it to my dd to take to school, I turn around and there she is.....UGH....She fell right in the biggest puddle I've ever seen...She's crying, she getting rained on, her school bag is soaked, my umbrella fell, I'm getting rained on...I grab her, run back in the house, she has to get totally undressed and then dressed again, she goes downstairs to get her other sneakers, she falls from the FLOOD, I have in the basement, she's soaked all over again and has to change again. I then start to laugh because of the flood (its better then crying)...I take her to school, she's late, I'm wet and now I'm mopping up a wet, flooded basement. WHAT A MORNING....................

I actually sat in the car for 15 min. when I got to work, waiting for it to let up some. Just kept getting worse. Finally got into the office - soaked and low and behold, the roof is leaking.

and tonight, going home, we play LIRR roulette.

do you get one of the new trains, horribly uncomfortable, with too-narrow seats, armrests that tear your pockets and no room to walk in the aisle?

or do you get one of the old trains, and hope you don't have to use your umbrella inside the car?

So true. I think I prefer the old cars!

Any you know they will have the air conditioning going full blast!

This is so crazy, it feels like I haven't seen the sun in weeks, we just got back from WDW and the weather wasn't the greatest, and here we are in for at least 4 more days of rain.... I feel for you guys commuting into the city, my dh commutes to the city on the LIRR and our line is like the pony express, the train comes infrequently so I feel bad for him tonight - hope he gets home!!

the railroad is running extra trains tonight because of the holiday.

imagine the idsaster if they get delayed because of the rain.

Yes out here on Long Island today I need my ark. I am home with ds who is sick with a sinus infection, glad we went to the dr. yest. My town had the honor of being on one of the local news stations with the highest amount of rain in the area so far, oh joy!! Where is the :sunny: ? I know it will be here sat. because I am in charge of the school tag sale. Hoe everyone is in a good shopping mood after all this rain. I am getting cabin fever I think.

My EZ Up pop-up Tent started collecting water and collapsed under the weight. Now it is an Easy Garbage Thing. I should have listened to my wife and put it away last month. Pool Cover is starting to slip into the pool, Syphoning it now, nothing like a mouth full of pool cover water to wake you up in the morning. Dog does not want to go out anymore and has decided that the backyard is now the front porch.

More rain forecasted for next day at least.
