I do agree that teachers get the short end of the deal and end up with big crowds. Try Thanksgiving to avoid the heat - it is great because you get all of the Christmas Decorations also. Some places luck out and have holidays that are different from the rest of the schools, like us in Louisiana - some of us have Mardi Gras - unless if falls with Presidents Day - like this year - then it is very crowded - I think much of the north is off for Presidents Day. We don't go if Presidents Day falls the same week as Mardi Gras.
I am a great Disney fan and for years I had to pay top price for air and hotels, etc. because I could only go on school vacations. Now I am retired and can take advantage of some good deals. My husband and I are going on the Disney Transatlantic and Med. cruise in April and I can't believe how many children will be on that cruise. I know some are home schooled but others are taking their children out for two weeks or more. I hope the children will learn some interesting historical things and see some sights that they just read about in books.
