Well, we're back from our wonderful stay at WDW. :sad2: Although we had quite a few chilly days & cold evenings, we really enjoyed our trip. We spent 4 nights at POP Century & 6 nights at Caribbean Beach. For some reason we were a bit disappointed in CBR & missed POP a couple times. We really had fun at the Pirate & Princess Party at the MK on 1/22, so we ended up cancelling a meal at Boma & going back on our last night at the parks on 1/26. :thumbsup2 We had a couple great meals & enjoyed some tasty beverages around the World Showcase, too. ;)

AF arrived for me after CD30 while we were at WDW - I was really worried about getting it while on vacation (after hearing how bad the 1st AF after a miscarriage can be) - but, it really wasn't bad at all this month. It started out really heavy, but only lasted 3-4 days which is Very short for me. :thumbsup2 So, today I'm on CD8 & am going to buy some OPK's when I head out to get groceries today. I also started taking the Pre-natal vitamins that the Doc gave me last month. Just trying to do everything we can to help everything along at this point. Really looking forward to TTC again this month!! :cloud9:

IMarriedGrumpy - sorry to hear about your sister getting a BFP. I'm preparing to go to a coworker's baby shower next Saturday. I'm trying to stay positive & just look forward to enjoying seeing all the cute baby stuff, but am also hoping that it won't make me sad at the same time. Hugs! :goodvibes

Michelle - Looks like a great schedule for the month! Keep us posted on how everything is going - 70% sounds great! :thumbsup2 I'm also jealous of the friends that work at WDW - we always talk about moving down there, not sure if it will ever happen or not...

Elaine - happy to hear from you - adoption sounds like a great way to build a family. It sounds like you're doing well. :goodvibes

Mousehouse - Sounds like you had a great trip, too!! Sorry to hear about your boss - I'm working with someone that's due in March and it's definitely hard some days.

lovinwdw - Sorry to hear about AF arriving.:goodvibes

KariC - thanks for sharing your story. We had a miscarriage (then a D&C) last month, so it's always nice to hear the success stories - it gives us all hope! :)

Hope everyone else is doing well!!! :)

Emily- welcome home! glad to hear you had a great trip. funny, we weren't all impressed with CBR either. it was fine, but i just missed the theming of port orleans. now that we have stayed at AKL, we will probably always try and do deluxe now. glad you are home and had a good time! i'll have to read our TR!!! so where did you eat! glad AF came and wasn't too horrible either.

well has anyone been to the disney store lately? they have this cute peter pan themed baby stuff- a growth chart, an activity center (for baby to lay under and grab and kick at stuff) and tons of cute onsies and clothes. well i told my mom i saw it....she knows i have always wanted to do a Peter Pan themed nursey someday.....more of a pirate theme of a boy and a tink theme if a girl. i have tons of lithos, posters, collectibles etc....from my time working on the college program. i even have a cool castle paper lamp. anyways- she cleaned out the store. i went with her yesterday to look and i was going to buy the growth chart. i didn't want to buy any of the clothes- since some were more boy or girl oriented... she said don't buy anything- i already bought it all!! she literally bought everything they had, boy or girl. she said she would just give away what we didn't want or use to someone else. she said no pressure, but she was afraid they woudln't carry that stuff for very long. so that is so sweet! if we get our miracle, we are well on our way!!! DH would freak, as he doesn't like putting the cart before the horse. i asked him about using my grandpa or grandma's name as a middle name if we have a baby through this IVF attempt and he said let's worry about making the baby first......i think he will do it though- afterall Grandpa is funding our $12k IVF attempt!

just finished BCP and still continuing lupron! baseline labs and u/s next week!

Hi
New to this thread...we're planning to TTC this summer. I'm a teacher so *ideally* would want to TTC from June-Nov., but all the infertility stories and miscarriage stories make me soooooo nervous! I also hear so much conflicting info that I don't know what to do!

I've been of BC since Oct. because my doc, and a lot of things I read, say it can take a few months for it to get out of your system, so I just went off early to hopefully make it easier. I'm 30 and healthy with no present or past medical issues. I lost about 20 lbs. three years ago so that helps to be at my ideal weight. I eat healthy, am taking vitamins, seem to be doing all the right things. One thing that worried me this month is that I had no CM any time during the month. And last month I had EWCM in the days before my period. I've not been sick or under any great stress. Do I need to be concerned?

All of this can be so confusing! With everyone's wealth of various experiences on this board, should we start trying now and not wait until the ideal time in terms of my summers off just in case there are unforseen problems? Any advice would be great!

:welcome:

I'm glad you have decided to join us here!!! :goodvibes

It sounds like you are on the right track with taking care of your self and going off of the BCP. As for the CM (or lack there of) it could just be your body still shaking off the effects of the BCP. If you are concerned that you are not ovulating you can try OPK's or BBT even before you "start trying" to see the days your are most fertile. As for waiting unfortunelty you and your DH are the only ones who can answer that. You may have no problems at all and conceive the first month you try and have a wonderful pregnancy...or you may not. It really is a crap shoot. I know that really is not much help but it is the truth.

I hope everything works out for you and your DH!!!

Welcome! :welcome: Sounds like you're off to a good start with taking care of your health and getting ready to TTC. It can be hard to know exactly what's going on - there are so many symptoms that can change each month that it gets very confusing! I highly recommend reading the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" (TCOYF as it gets abbreviated here). It's been super helpful for me in knowing what things to look for and how to interpret the signs when they happen. If you haven't been charting your temps and CM and other parts of your cycle, you might try that for a few months as you get ready to TTC. It can really help clarify what's going on and can help your Dr. if you do have any difficulties along the way.

Good luck!! pixiedust:

mtakac - I use the OPK's as well as charting BBT and CM (and every other discernable symptom and sign! :rotfl: ), and I find that it helps with the overall picture of what is going on with my cycle. This month I didn't start using them early enough because my cycle got messed up, so it was less helpful than usual. In general, I start using the OPK's about 5 days before my earliest recorded O. (Since I usually O between CD20 - CD28, I start using the OPK's on CD 15.) I started buying them from babyhopes.com since the darn things are so expensive. I get the ultra cheap sticks, and these require peeing in a cup instead of peeing on the stick, but they're way more affordable than the ones usually found in the store. Hope that helps!

1 week to test day for me...hoping for the BFP, but I think we missed this month since I O'd way early. I hate my stupid irregular cycle!! :headache: And of course I'm still hoping and hoping...maybe this month will be the miracle!

Emily: Welcome home!! Glad AF wasn't too bad. I've been hearing such wonderful things about the pirate and princess party! They sound like so much fun!

kjs1976: Welcome!! Sounds like you are going in the right direction so far! I've been off BCP since June 05. My DH is also a teacher, so we started *really* trying last fall, but didn't have any luck so now we're just trying every month and not worrying about timing. Every one is so different. You never know how things will work out. Hopefully you'll have better luck!

Good luck, Imarriedgrumpy!! I hope this month is it for you! :wizard:

Well, I'm back at work this morning after 10 days at WDW. It's 11 degrees & snowing like crazy out there!! What weather to come back to! :rotfl2:

Michelle - thanks! My mother-in-law had a catalog from the Disney store that had a bunch of that cute Peter Pan baby stuff in it - I've been meaning to go on-line to look at it all. That is so sweet of your Mom to get all the Peter Pan baby stuff. :goodvibes I agree, stuff like that tends to go fast, so it's wonderful that you don't have to worry about it disappearing. :thumbsup2 We ate at a couple of our stand-by favorites - Crystal Palace for Breakfast, Liberty Tree Tavern, Cape May Cafe, Alfredo's, Beaches & Cream & Spoodles & tried Maya Grill for the first time & we really enjoyed it. We also ate at Hollywood & Vine for dinner one night & while it wasn't really bad, it just didn't thrill us either - not sure we're in a hurry to go back to that one. We've also decided that we really love the Deluxes, but still love POP for what it is. I don't think we'll be doing another moderate anytime soon. We'd rather split a stay between POP & a deluxe instead. :)

Skuttle - thanks! The Pirate & Princess Party was really nice - we didn't end up with great weather either time, but still had a great time. We loved seeing the characters dressed up like Pirates/Princesses & the fireworks were some of the best we've seen. I also really enjoyed the parade - I loved that Aladdin & Jasmine rode through the parade on horses! :)

kjs1976 - Welcome to the group!!! :goodvibes You'll get a lot of great advice & support here. :)

IMarriedGrumpy - hoping this is the month for your BFP!!! :yay:

Well, I'm off to tackle this overflowing pile on my desk...

doesn't coming back to work after a vacation really blow? oh well- i am so glad you had a good time and you ate at my old workplace....hollywood and vine. that is where i worked when i was on the college program with disney back in 96....over 11 years ago----ouch- that makes me sound really old now! :lmao: it was a cafeteria back then and i had to wear that awful light pink and light green 50s cafeteria lady outfit. that was my home for 4 months. i got to listen to gone with the wind play in there everyday! lol

Imarriedgrumpy- i am keeping my fingers crossed for you this month. i am usually VERY irregular too. so you aren't alone! meds have helped me though and so did my lap. i think my endo was a big part of it.

KJS- welcome to the board!!! i wish you lots of luck! i agree- pick up a book - taking charge is a great one. i just ordered "the fertility cure" by Randine Lewis, my acupuncturist recommended it- (doing acupuncture
with my IVF this month). feeling okay today - no more BCP for me! yeah- finished those up- expect AF this week. still doing lupron shots- this is week 2 on them and i am actually sore in my belly from it last night. i start the other 2 shots this weekend, so i'll be up to 3! man, what we are willing to go through to have a baby! :rotfl2:

ImarriedGrumpy - Thank you so much for the tip about getting the ovulation testers from babyhopes.com. They are so much cheaper even than the Target brand ones that I've been buying. I use a disposable cup anyway so the ones you use will be great for me.

Awesome! I'm glad that will work for you. The instructions for the sticks are online, and they don't send them to you, which is another way they cut down on costs. It's pretty basic, though, nothing fancy about these things! :rotfl: They do send a little packet of "babydust" with each order, which I think is awfully fun. I'm getting close to needing to put in another order. I've decided that I'll wait to see if we get the BFP this month (I test in one week!) and then I'll order more if it's a BFN. Still hoping I won't be needing the rest of those OPKs!

Hi to all the newbies. Everything is going fine still no baby but my friend still sees my stork at her house in Florida. I just got back from a scrapbooking weekend and had lots of fun--no Kevin and Diana yeah!!!!pixiedust:

Can I join here? :wave2: We are in the pre-phases of TTC - taking prenatals, trying to give up caffeine, lose weight, etc. Yesterday was the 8 month anniversary since losing Macy, and I just really, really need & want this. I wanted another baby before all this happened, but now it's Really important. KWIM? I just know that I'm going to keep being sad without a baby and I'm still going to be sad with a baby, but at least I'll have something to make me smile, too. ::yes:: Plus, I'm not getting any younger. lol

Anyway, we aren't actively trying yet, but if it happens, it happens. :cloud9:

Oh, and saw the post above about the Tinkerbell/Peter Pan nursery stuff. I HAVE to go see this. I looked online and couldn't find it, but I'm going to try to get to our Disney store this weekend. Macy LOVED Peter Pan & Tinkerbell and I had already decided to do the nursery in greens & purples, so it sounds perfect for us!

Welcome!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss :(

I wish you Baby Dust pixiedust:

Welcome to the TTC thread, OctoberBeauty!

Again, I'm so very sorry for your loss and everything your family has gone through. You are a very strong woman. I wish you much luck as you start this crazy TTC process! :goodvibes

:wave2: everyone! Welcome Sheri! I am not TTC, but I stalk this thread, anyway!

Lots and lots of baby dust to everyone. pixiedust:

Denae

Michelle - Yes!! Coming back to work really does suck! :lmao: I'm trying to catch up on things from being gone & now I also need to tackle month end this week. I'm hoping to start uploading my pics & working on my trip report soon. I just love getting our pictures back after a trip! The hardest part right now is that we don't know when we'll be returning!

OctoberBeauty - Welcome to the board - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. This is a great, supportive group - I wish you lots of pixiedust: in TTC again. :goodvibes

LisaB - the scrapping weekend sounds like fun! I haven't been scrapping much at all lately, and I really miss it. I'd love to do a weekend like that sometime. :thumbsup2

IMarriedGrumpy - I'm hoping you don't need any more OPK's after this month either! pixiedust: ::yes::

Not much is new here - at CD10 this morning & just waiting around to O. I stopped after work last night & bought some OPK's at the drug store. I've never used them before, but figure they may come in handy with my charting & everything. ::yes:: Since I didn't O until CD18 last month, I'll probably wait at least one more day to start the OPK's. Hubby's schedule is crazy this week, so hopefully we'll get some BD in at some point.

Not looking forward to this evening - I'm going to Babies R Us after work with 2 coworkers to shop for the baby shower we're attending on Saturday. We're all going in on a gift for her & they were originally going to go shopping without me while I was in FL, but they waited until I got back instead. I was actually happy to not have to go baby shopping for someone else right now. :worried: So, hopefully, I can refrain from getting emotional while out & about. I had a down night last night for some reason - my face is all broken out again & I made the mistake of trying on a couple of dresses last night that definitely don't fit anymore. We're attending my hubby's Army National Guard Ball next weekend, so it looks like I'll need to go dress shopping one evening this week.

I am not entirely sure where my life went... I just don't have near the time I used to to post and all.

Michelle, that orientation sounds like it was a lot of fun and very educational! A 70% success rate sounds good to me!!! I will keeping my fingers crossed for you. As for adoption, like you I would love one of my own, but I have the draw and desire to do this for totally other reasons I think. I feel like it isn't an "instead of" option but more of "in addition to"

mousehouselover  I can totally understand how you are feeling. Hang in there... and always feel free to come here to vent! Glad you had a good time at WDW though... I never want to come home ;)

lovinwdw, sorry the old hag showed up. I would imagine that your body is just readjusting to hormones after the BCP. I know how disappointing it is when you hear someone was able to get pregnant so quickly. We started holidays of 2005 and don't have much to show for it. But I always do remember that our timeline is in the realm of "average" and that we have a better chance of it happening for us than not.

Kari, thanks for your story... it always is great to hear happy endings :)

Mtakac, Luis and I have been married about 6.5 years now and we're lucky that the questions have more or less stopped. I have always replied though "if it is meant to be, we will have a child" So basically a polite way of "get out of my business" ;) I'm good at ignoring so I think that has helped a lot!

Kjs, welcome to the thread!!! Sounds like you are getting yourself ready for everything. I admit I am probably one of those stories that scares you, but for every bad story I have to share about it, I know one good one to go with. And in some cases a bad story leads to a happy ending fairly quickly after. As for the EWCM, I don't always see it. It truthfully depends on how much we BD ;) (for me that changes the whole look of the CM when I check it) I always say if you are concerned, talk to your doctor. The tests they do are much more reliable than anything we could advise, but for the most part, I wouldn't worry at all, esepecially since you just went off BCP a few months ago.

Emily, welcome back!!! I am so glad that AF didn't cause you troubles at all. Mine was more painful and longer, but in all honesty any time I am at WDW, AF never seems as bad :rotfl: I am actually with you on CBR... I really do not like that resort at all! It just isn't my cup of tea and I have had zero desire to stay there since we went in 1990. Good luck tonight shopping too

I have been to TDS lately, but I didn't get to see those Peter Pan items. They sound so cute though!!! Our Disney STore is small and never has a lot so I am not shocked I didn't see them.

Lisa, glad you enjoyed the weekend. I find time away from my DH is nice now and then too!

Sheri, so nice to see you here! Feel free to join on in! I wish you all the best when it comes to prepping your body!

Octoberbeauty- welcome and good luck TTC! you are already well on your way it sounds like. so sorry for your loss too.....i know you will find great support here.

Lisa- great to hear from you. i am a huge scrapbooker too- my cousin does those weekend trips to scrap as well!

Emily- enjoy using the OPKs...they should work well for you!

just waiting on AF to show here. i don't know how soon to expect her, since this IVF is all new to me. i took my last BCP sat night. i am still on the lupron shots. i cannot wait for my appt friday!!! but i am not looking forward to next week. i know i am going to feel miserable and bloated!

Emily-Glad to see you had fun on your trip. I have never stayed at CBR but from the reviews I have read I don't think we will ever try it. I look forward to reading your trip report!!!! I hope the OPK's work for you and you get your BFP soon!!!! I know the baby shopping will be hard. I too have to go and buy a new dress for my DH's banquet :sad2:

Michelle-I hope you get AF soon!!! (didn't think I would ever say that  ).

Well today is CD 8 and I will use my first OPK tonight. DH and I have been trying to walk everymorning to lose some weight but there was no way in he double hockey sticks I was walking this morning...it was only 8 degrees :scared1: So far is has been one week and I have only lost 1lb. I know I can lose weight faster by doing the low carb thing but the last time I did that I couldn't stay with it...I love bread too much!!! So I am trying to eat less, more often and walk. I hope to lose at least 15 lbs by our trip in May...wish me luck

Well :wizard: to all!!!

Thanks girls - I'm sure shopping won't be so bad once I'm there - just thinking about it is driving me crazy. :sad1: The last time I was in the store I was 9 weeks along with my Mom & just talking about everything we wanted to get for the baby. We already have a bunch of baby stuff at home & that doesn't bother me to see, so I'm not sure what I'm worried about. It's like a blizzard outside right now, so who knows if we'll even make it out to shop tonight or not...

I know what you mean about the dieting - I was actually proud that I only gained 1.5 lbs at Disney for 10 days. I think it really helped that we weren't on the DDP this time (that is just too much food!) & we didn't eat as many huge sit-down meals either. I think all the walking down there really helps, too. I've been meaning to do the treadmill since we got home, but my feet are still so achy & swollen from the trip I haven't jumped on it yet. I'm trying to eat better this week - healthier options & smaller portions. I'm just worried if I try to lose a lot of weight too fast that it will hinder our TTC chances. Does anyone have any insight on this? I know hubby is trying to lose a few pounds too, but I don't really want this to cause any problems for us. :)

I'll be shopping the clearance racks at the mall for a ballgown one evening this week - not sure if I'll make it tonight or Thursday night.

Wow only 1.5lbs after 10 days...that is great. I am with you on the whole DDP...way to much food. We won't be using it either on our upcoming trip.

As for loosing weight to fast...I'm not sure...the only thing that is a concern is if you loose to much weight. That can affect your estrogen levels and therefore mess with your cycles. I had this happen when I was in college. I was working out everyday and not eating much and got down to 132lbs and about 9% body fat. Now on my 5' 11" frame I was about 15lbs underweight. My cycles got all funky so just be careful.

What I think is crappy is that even when i was only 132lbs I was still a size 8/9. Now I'm a size 12 and I'm made to believe that I am "plus size". I'm not fat. I'm only 10lbs above my max weight and although I don't like the way I look most people would not look at me and think I'm overweight. I just want to get back down to a size 10.
