Aw, Michelle, I'm so sorry. :hugs: I was hoping to hear about a BFP for you!

We just returned from our trip last night. We had a lot of fun, but it was exhausting! After 8 days at WL in December 05, buying a house in May, and a new car in November, we squeezed in this trip to go back to WDW one more time with DS before having another baby. Little did I know TTC would take this long! We were only there for 6 full days. Definitely NOT ENOUGH with a 3 1/2 year old! We needed more days to sleep in and do nothing. The temps were in the 80s, but I never thought of bringing our swimsuits, so we didn't swim. DS had at least one meltdown a day. It was too much for him. Next time, we're definitely shooting for at least 8-10 days with plenty of time to sleep in, swim, and do non-park stuff.

DH and I BD'd only once...the night we arrived. That was CD19 and I had been O'ing on CD20, so we'll see, I guess. I had planned on temping and BD'ing more often, but I was so exhausted each night it just didn't happen! I didn't take my temp once. Today is CD27, so only a few more days to get this show on the road!

Michelle-I'm so so sorry. I'm glad that you are not giving up. Good luck with your appointment and I hope IVF goes well for you.

Skuttle-I'm glad you had a good time. I know all about the 6 days is not enough. That is all we can do eventhough we are gone 8 days. It takes us a full day to get there and get home so we only get 6 days.

Well today is CD13 and the second day of "peak" fertility according to the monitor. So we bd'd last night and will try again tonight. Then comes the dreaded TWW

I've about had it, too, after 6 months. AF is due sometime in the next three days. I was sure all the signs were there this month (brownish stuff, tired, face broke out like a teenager's...)

I get mad at DH every time I take a test or start my pd since he made me wait a whole extra year to go off birth control (so we wouldn't have two kids in daycare for more than a year!!). Every month he apologizes, since he assumed we'd get pregnant the first month, like we did with DD.

We've been going the natural route, and I finally broke down and bought some Pre-Seed last month. Took a test Saturday night and it was a BFN, even though we've been BD'ing on the right days (I think).

I bought a thermometer, too but I'm not very sure what to do with it, and it doesn't have a light. I have to use a flashlight to chart the temps so I don't wake DH up when my alarm goes off. Any help there?

Going to inquire about Clomid when I talk to my OBGYM during my annual the week after next. Can anyone tell me the side effects of it?

My thermometer stores the last temp. I wake up, take it, and then turn it off. When I get up for the day, I hold down the button and the last temp pops up. I have the pink BBT from wal-mart.

 It's tough. I always wanted to blame my trouble on being on BC pills, but my RE told me over and over that they were absolutely not the cause. I think most people don't understand that secondary infertility can be just as devastating as primary infertility.

Try not to worry too much, 6 months really isn't that long. Really try hard to chart, because it is evidence you can use when you do go to the doctor that you are not ovulating (if that is the case). The sooner you start temping and charting, the sooner you will be able to start treatment.

Some people feel comfortable being treated by their OB/GYN's, but I really wanted to go to an RE. It's something to think about when you decide whether and when you need to seek treatment.

Hi skuttle - hope your BD was the right one!

Denae

Michelle - So sorry about AF showing her ugly face. :sad2: Please KUP on that appt this afternoon. And just think....you're off to Disney in 2 days!! :yay:

Denae - thanks for the info on my pepperoni face (that's a good description!LOL) Hubby told me I looked nice in red today (wearing one of his Ohio State jerseys for the big game tonight!! :thumbsup2 ) and I said - yeah it matches my face! LOL :rotfl: I really do hope it straightens up some before we're in a zillion pics at WDW in 9 days...

Skuttle - Welcome back!! It looks like you guys had some nice weather down there. :thumbsup2 I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good weather - the forecast for our trip is all over the place. I just really want 2-3 nice days to check out the pool at CBR - otherwise we're OK with 60's. I'm just thrilled to be going back so soon with our AP's. :goodvibes Glad you guys had a good trip, although it does sound tiring!! Crossing my fingers that your Disney BD did the trick!! ;)

Rebecca - GL in the 2WW - that's always the longest time of the month! :)

Emily: We had highs in the mid 80s all week! One day it rained and we wore pants because it was cooler, but other than that it was 80s! Lows were in the 60s, I guess. I never felt cold at night in shorts and a t-shirt, so it must not have been too low. Everyone kept saying it was warmer than normal this time of year. I packed everything. I think I had enough clothes for a week of hot weather and a week of cold weather! LOL!

You know it just dawned on me, I never answered when the marathon at WDW was!! I know it was this past weekend, but a lot of people go down and stay the week after as a celebration of sorts :)

Michelle, I am sorry that AF showed her ugly head. I was seriously hoping for good for you!!! And thank you for before... it's funny because after reading all you have gone through, I think you are strong as well. I have no words of advice except have a blast at WDW!!!! (even though some of it will be work). I really do hope the story of my friend will give your friend hope as well. It's nice to hear happy endings.
Good luck at the doctor though! Fingers crossed for you!

Amber, how are things coming with you? It's amazing what info you find out on the web and only to wind up with no real answers. I suppose every body and pregnancy is totally different. Even for a woman one can be easy and no problems and the next can be filled with sickness and yuck.

Micki, I don't think we have a place that lists all the acronymns. But do not feel dense... I've been at this a year and looking around other places and still dont' know them all :p
Some common ones are:
BD- baby dance (having sex)
DPO-day past ovlation
CD- cycle day (of the period)
2ww- 2 week wait
As for temping, I totally cannot rely on that for me with issues I have with body temps not staying normal at night (due to low blood pressure). There are other signs you can look for (EWCM- egg white cervical mucus) If you look up about charting the mucus, you can find more than might help you

Carla, I am not sure how you totally feel about it, but congratulations on quitting your job! I know for me it was the best thing I ever did!!!!! I am sorry you've been so sick though. I do get a smile on my face seeing htat sig. When are you due to find out the sex?
Oh and I was with you on the weather until you mentioned snow... I don't miss that, but I miss the dry season to help with allergies!

Imarried, my fingers are crossed for you as well! I do hope that at the very least tomorrow will be a good one for you physically!

Emily, I am glad that my friend helped give hope! I think she's been at the whole TTC for about a year as well and had her ups and downs. She was afraid to tell me, but she wanted me to have hope as well. Oh and good luck with the body getting back into the swing of it. My emotions were all over the place for about 2 weeks and then I had the breakouts as well. The worst part for me was the spotting I had. No real cramps so the uterus was slower to clean itself out I think. Just be wary on how bad the cramps will be when she does show. They knocked my socks off... and my flow was totally different. A lot brighter, a lot less clots, but a lot of flow off and on for four days. Lasted one day longer than usual too.

Denae, that is so cool about thinking about foster care as well. I know that it cannot be easy, but it is something my DH promised to think about. I don't think we'd adopt or do the foster care soon, but just something that we can look into if he decides he wants to go with it.

Tasha, good luck starting the new semester. My brother just went back to school today for his masters. He hasn't done that in over 10 years though (the school thing!)

Welcome back, Skuttle! I am glad you had a good time, and can totally understand about it being tiresome. Heck Luis and I were gone 8 days in Oct and I still wanted more time to just hang out! Fingers also crossed that you BD'd on the right day!

gypsydoodlebug, i am sorry for the feelings you are having as well  We've been actively TTC for about a year or more now with not much to show. We had waited 6 months in fear that we would get pregnant at a poor time, but in hindsight, I doubt that would have made a difference. Good luck with talking to the doc when you do! I know it doesn't really help, but in reality, 6-12 months of trying is considered totally normal for a couple! Try not to give up hope yet!!!

Elaine, thanks for asking. I still have no idea what is going on. I'm still spotting. Most of the time it's been brown, but there's times it has been red too. It doesn't seem to fit implantation bleeding, but I read (on another message board) that IB isn't always "textbook". I also read that some woman just spotted through pregnancy. This has never happened before AF, so I am at a loss. :confused3

skuttle, maybe that one day was the charm. :wizard: for you.

Michelle, :grouphug:

Well, the official "bd" time has started....it's sooo nerve wracking, it really is. I wish I'd just get a BFP and have a baby, and stop worrying!! ;)

welcome home Skuttle- glad you had a good trip! you are right, 6 days is not enough! glad you had fun and nice weather- so what was the highlight of the trip? how many times have you taken your son before? i leave wednesday!

well appt with the RE went well. i decided on in vitro for sure. got my BCP already and start them today. i haven't had those in over 5 years....so ironic to take them as the first step of IVF! lol :rotfl: here will be my protocol--he has a 67% success rate with 35 and under (i am 33.5).

Today- start BCP- for 3 weeks (finish pack)
1/22- start lupron shots
(get period late Jan)
1/28- last BCP
2/1- labs - bloodwork (shutdown labs- ensure ovaries suppressed)
2/2- baseline ultrasound
2/4- start follistim and menopaur injections (probably for 10 days)
with every other day u/s for monitoring
2/12- ER and ET this week......
2/19- beta late this week!

Whew! The 3 & 6 yr. olds have gone home and the 15mo. old is down for her nap, I've cleaned up after the tornado of 3 small girls in the house all day, and I'm finally sitting down without having someone else sitting or climbing on me! :woohoo: This is my training for motherhood...can I handle the chaos and the mess and the "I want that" and the runny noses and the all the demands for my undivided attention? I think so! ;)

I had all 3 girls wanting my attention at the same time AND one of the cats meowing at me and weaving in and out of my legs...and then the phone rings and it's Home Depot calling to schedule the delivery of our new fridge so I MUST talk to this man. Poor guy had to deal with several interruptions in the conversation as I confirmed the purchase and scheduled the delivery while also changing a diaper, making lunch, settling a dispute over game rules, rescuing a cat from an enthusiastic hugger, and cleaning up the mess after the toddler discovered how to untwist the top of her sippy cup. :rotfl2:

And DH wonders why I don't get more done during the day... :lmao:

No AF or cramps today, thank heaven! But my temp dropped again today. I guess if I'm not even spotting tomorrow I'll test, since usually AF shows up w/in 48 hours of my first low temp after O. This has been a strange cycle from the start, so I have no idea what to think anymore.

It's always encouraging and comforting to come here and read everyone's stories. Gives me hope!

Good luck with the ivf Michelle. At least now you will know how the eggs are.

Down to 8 days until our trip!! My evening was pretty uneventful last night, we watched a movie & watched the Buckeyes lose. Hubby was very unhappy all evening because of it. :sad2: Our internet (dial-up! :scared1: ) hasn't been working right for the last several days - luckily, they're coming today to install cable internet. I can't wait to go home & go on the internet again! :thumbsup2

Skuttle - that weather does sound great for January. We've been in Jan before & had a week of weather like you described & a week where it was in the 30's every night & not much warmer during the day! :scared1: We learned after that trip that no matter what that forecast says before we leave, I'm bringing enough clothes for warm or cold weather!! :rotfl:

Elaine - thanks for the AF info - I've heard the 1st one can be a doozy, so thanks for the first hand knowledge. I hear you on the emotional rollercoaster, too. Last night on my way home in the car, I just burst into tears. I came home with mascara running down my face & poor hubby thought there was really something wrong! I really wasn't thinking about anything that would upset me, just another crazy day with me & my hormones.

Michelle - So happy to hear about your appointment! :goodvibes Congrats on making the decision to try IVF! :) I'm sure that having your plan in place is a bit of relief & great news to start you on your way to Disney this week!! :thumbsup2 I'm really hopeful that this will work out for you & your hubby. :goodvibes Are you all packed for the trip? Do you leave tomorrow? :)

IMarriedGrumpy - good job with all those kiddos!! :thumbsup2 Sounds like a pretty full day! Still holding out hope that AF won't show up...good luck testing! :goodvibes

Michelle, I'm sorry about AF. If you have Discovery Health Channel, they have a show called The Baby Lab. It's on today at 2pm and it's on tomorrow (might be a different episode, not sure) tomorrow at 10am and 2pm. It follows couples through IVF. I came up with a few benefits of IVF. 1. Who else gets to see their kids as follicles and then embryos? and 2. When I go back for siblings, I may be almost 32, but my embryos will be made from 29/30 year old eggs. Have to find a bright side somewhere, right?? :goodvibes

gypsydoodlebug, the only s/e I had from Clomid was a hot flash here and there and a headache here and there. Most of the s/e come AFTER you're done taking it - sore bb's, nausea...basically pregnancy symptoms multiplied. You really shouldn't take Clomid until you've had an HSG and your DH has an SA. If there is a new tubal problem or sperm issue, you'll be medicating for nothing. Clomid, even though it's considered the starter drug for infertility, is very serious. It can cause cysts. It can thin the lining of your uterus. It shouldn't be taken for more than 3 months in a row and no more than 6 months altogether. You should also be monitored with blood and ultrasound during and after. I was on 50mg (the lowest dose without cutting a pill in half) and I ended up with 7 follicles. If even half of those had mature eggs that fertilized, I'd be looking at triplets or quads. My doctor told me no BD because the risk was too high. There is also a risk of OHSS, which is very serious. So, if you're thinking of Clomid, I'd make sure the doctor handing it out to you knows it's much more than Tylenol because a lot of GYNs seem to think it's candy.

Today is my big u/s. I've been thinking boy since I found out I was pregnant, so we'll see. It seems IVF/ICSI has a bigger percentage of girls since girl sperm are usually better looking and those are the ones they select for ICSI. It'll be interesting to find out. It's not until 4pm. The suspense is killing me!

Emily- yes, i leave tomorrow at 7am.....of course i do have to fit some work in unfortunately.....i have to set up our booth tomorrow, but should be done by 5pm or so and will be having dinner at Cali Grill at 9pm. Thursday i work for 4 hours in the am, then off to Epcot from 2-9pm then pick up DH at 10pm from MCO. Friday, i work late morning, then have to drive to titusville for a nighttime networking event. if we can get out of there early enough- we might try and walk in at Ohanas or something. with just 2 of us, maybe they could fit it in- DH loved it last time. Saturday-i work for a few hours in the morning- then off to the MK from 2-10pm! dinner at LTT. Sunday- i get to sleep in and might do the buffet at BOMA, since I'm staying at AKL and then i have to work and tear down in the afternoon. Then a lovely 6am flight out of MCO and home to DFW by 8am. i am taking Monday off to sleep! lol :rotfl:

IVF is exciting- i am glad to at least know our next step and already start the process. Tons of paperwork i filled out last night and will turn in today- like what they do with frozen embryos (if you have any to freeze) in event of divorce of death. so many things to consider! but i am excited.

Imarriedgrumpy- wow, you handled all 3 girls pretty well it sounds like though. definitely have to multitask huh? lol....well i hope you get your BFP- please keep us posted when you test.

 Carla - have fun with the u/s! I spent the whole time trrying to crane my head around to get a good view. They say boy, so I'll believe them. Personally, didn't really see that well....

Gypsydoodlebug - definitely get completely checked out before starting the Clomid. Your doc at least should get labs (thyroid, LH and FSH, fasting blood sugar or a glucose tolerance), and do a pap and eberything on you, as well as a semen analysis for your husband (he'll love that...... ) I was on Clomid for 8 cycles total. The only real side effect I noticed was being REALLY crabby. Unfortunately, never got pregnant while I was using it. But the month I didn't use any, got pregnant. For me, I think the metformin was probably all I needed, and the Clomid got in the way a bit (dries up CM, thins the endometrial lining)

Michelle - good luck with the IVF. It must feel better to have the whole schedule out in front of you rather than waiting for AF to figure out what's going to happen next.

 everybody!

Jen

My temp went back up today, so I broke down and tested and got a BFN. :guilty: Still absolutely no sign of AF, so I'm giving it a couple more days and then I'll test again. It's not over until she shows, so I figure I'll be testing every other day until I get a BFP or AF appears. I can't stand the suspense!

ImarriedGrumpy - so sorry on the BFN. What DPO are you? Do you have a chart I could peek at? Good job handling all the tasks yesterday. Trust me, when it's your day to day, it will seem even more like second nature.

Carla - WOO HOO on the big u/s today! I am going to say girl for you! Are you still thinking of naming the baby after your RE? I think that was you, right?

Michelle - I am so sorry that AF showed, but I am happy you have your protocal in hand. Best of luck! Have a blast in WDW, too! JEALOUS! I have another 23 months to go....

I hope you are all doing well. I read along but time doesn't always allow me to post. And by the time I do get time, well, I have forgotten what I read.

I wish you all the best in the new year! 2007 is going to rock!!!! :cheer2:
