BD = baby dance

Someone posted a link to abbreviations one time. Check the first post for some links. I have been able to figure them out from context, and soon you will, too.

EWCM = egg white cervical mucus - that one took me a long time.

POAS is one i didn't get at first- pee on a stick (pregnancy test)

there is also the 2WW- 2 week wait- the time between ovulation and AF visiting/doing a pregnancy test- on average the 2WW is like day 14-28.

CD is cycle day. first day of your period is CD1

Hey!!

Welcome to all the Newbies...please keep us updated!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. :thumbsup2

I finally got all my shopping done and now the wrapping starts...ugh :rolleyes: It has been so cold here and we have snow again.

So I am on CD19 approx. 6DPO. I have been nauseous off and on for about a week now. I am getting bloated and crampy but at this point I have no clue what that means anymore. :confused3 So I will wait...and wait...and wait...

Anyone else in the 2WW????

LOL! The abbeviations do take a while to get used to. :)

Elaine: Yay for AF! Never thought I'd say that. ;)

Rebecca...Good luck to you!! I hope you get a BFP for Christmas!

I'll do a quick re-intro. I have a 3 year old DS. He was a wonderful surprise, so I'm new to this TTC stuff. I've been off BCP since June, but started "really" trying in about August/September. This is only my 2nd month charting. I just realized that I actually O closer to CD20, so hopefully that will help us out!

Hi all! Doing well here. AF left as quickly as she came, so I can't complain.

How many of us are between CD4-8? It sounds like there are several of us in the same window. It would be great to see several BFPs at the same time.

acronyms:
DPO= days past ovulation
O or Ov= ovulation
IVF= In vitro fertilizaton
beta= quantitative blood test to determine pregnancy
tx= treatment

You can see most of them here: http://groups.msn.com/FertilitySisters/acronyms.msnw

Lisa and helena~ Thanks for your kind words. I know the likelyhood of getting a BFP with out tx is less than 1% a month. I'm just glad she didn't ang around for 2 mos gain, that sucked. {{{{HUGS}}}} to both of you.

skuttle~ Sorry about the BFN this month. (I can't remember if I said this already.) The more yuo know aout your body, the easier it is to tell when something is wrong.

I have more personals but it's been a long day and i can't organize my thoughts very well. I'm headed to bed but will be back tomorrow.

Night all;

Hi everyone! Welcome to all the new folks! :sunny:

I really appreciate the support from everyone on this thread, and it's been a great place to vent and share struggles and questions and hopes. And don't worry about sharing too much - this whole thread is TMI! :rotfl2:

Well, it looks like I'll be in my "O week" starting the day we leave for MN to visit my family and ending with New Years day. I'm starting on the OPK's (ovulation predictor kits) tomorrow and hopefully won't burn through too many of them before we get the green light, so to speak. Those things are expensives!

Of course the weirdest part of this is that we'll be BDing at my parents house with a houseful of relatives over Christmas! And there just isn't a smiley to illustrate that awkward setup... I'm praying we get a room with a door and not the sofa bed this year. I guess I just have to weigh my desire for a baby against the potentially embarassing situation of BDing on the sofa bed in the family room with the Christmas tree and stockings... :rotfl:

Edited to add my re-introduction: I'm Bethany, and I'm less than a month from my 35th birthday. DH is 40, and we've been TTC since August, but I started charting in the spring to prepare for TTC. DH has been somewhat nervous and reluctant to know the details of my cycle, but now that we've been TTC for a few months with no BFP, he's starting to be willing to "work" more at this and wants more information. Our insurance (an HMO) completely stinks and has weird requirements to jump through hoops to get treatment, so I sometimes come here to complain about the latest red tape! :rolleyes:

Hello again,

I thought I'd introduce myself properly now. I'm 27, and my DH is 34, and we've been married for just over 2 years now. We wanted to wait until we'd settled into out new house and area before we TTC so now we have it's all systems go. I'm new to all this and don't do the temperature thing as I thought I'd wait and see if anything happened before I tried that. We've been BDing every day lately to try and make sure we get the right time and we're both pretty shattered already!! Haha!! I think I must be on CD19 (I'm getting the hang of these abbreviations!!) but I have a long cycle, about 34 days so I think I might be Oing this week.

I guess I'm on CD4 now. I'm not really going to "try" this cycle. I'll probably still BD around CD13 since that's the day I've O'd the past few months. But I just need a break from thinking about it all the time. Maybe next month I'll be ready to temp and chart and all of that again.

Glad to see lots of new people!! :wave:

I'm 41 and my dh is 42 and this is just our 2nd month of trying. We are currently in the 2ww, just the beginning, I'm dpo 3. I'm hoping for a bfp while we are still at my parents for the holiday(different state), so I could tell them in person! :goodvibes

ImarriedGrumpy - We were at my parents for Thanksgiving, of course that was my fertile time! :blush: The 2 different times that we bd'ed, less than 20 minutes later, both times, we had my Mom calling us!!!! I was like come on, can't we get a little pivacy?! :rolleyes: But, I guess when you are home, you don't'!!! :teeth: So be prepared!!!! :thumbsup2

I have a question, too. My dr. wants me to try for 6 months, before we start to test for things. Does this seem like a reasonable amount of time, especially given my age(41)?

Cindy,

A lot of doctors, and most insurance companies expect a woman to try for a year before they can seek infertility services. In that context, 6 months is a reasonable time frame.

Here's hoping you achieve pregnancy sooner than later!!

(Im on cd 18 & in the 2ww! Keeping my fingers and follicles crossed!)

CindyBeth- good luck. your doc probably already made a concession for your age by saying 6 months. Most docs make you wait a year. but it can't hurt to express your concern, especially if you have irregular periods or any other issue that you think might affect your fertility. My doc didn't make me wait a year due to my history of being off BC for 5 years (we used nothing, not even pull out) and not having an 'accidental pregnancy' in all that time. Plus i suspected i had endo (i did, had a lap in oct). just push the issue if you feel you should have help sooner. all they can say is no.

Well my appt went well today- i have good follies growing.
Right side- 13mm, 14mm and three below 7mm
left side- 14.5mm, 9mm, 9mm and three below 7mm

The 7mm's won't grow in time to mature and 'count' for the IUI, but the other 5 should mature and release an egg for our IUI. Of course I don't want 5 kiddos.....but i've already had 3 IUIs, 2 with over 7 mature follicles and we didn't even manage to fertilize one of the 7, so who knows. I am hoping the egg quality is better (the follistim injections improve it). my lining is great and thick too. My follies should grow 2-3mm a night and we have another check on thursday and then probably will trigger thursday or friday. I have 2 more nights of follistim shots though. had to order another cartridge today, $200....ouch! If we have a baby, we are going to name it either 'miracle' or 'expensive'..... lol---that's just a joke! :rotfl: :teeth:

LOL at all the folks having to BD at relative's or parent's homes.....i hope it all goes well. we do whatever it takes, huh?

Rebecca- i am wishing you a BFP!!! :cheer2:

Noni- i am on CD7 now, so i am in your group too! :grouphug:

oh and a little reintroduction below:
-Michelle, 33, marketing mgr
-DH, 35, real estate investment

*Sept 06- IUI with clomid (50mg)

Yeah Michelle :cheer2: :cheer2: Sounds good :thumbsup2

:rotfl: to those with BD privacy issues during the holidays. My DH and I have been living with my parents for a year now so we are used to it :lmao:

All about me ;)
Rebecca (29)
DH (31)
We have been married for 7 years now and wanted to wait until we had a stable environment to bring a baby into. Then right as we were about to start TTC my Dad called and said to put our house up for sale and move with them to Sisters. He was going to be getting 500 acres and would build a house big enough for both our families so I could be a stay at home mom. DH got his transfer, I sold the house and we moved. Then it all went to HELL!!! So we have been living in the guest room with all our stuff in storage for the past year. So now we will either be building a guest house for us to live in or now Dad said he may still get the 500 acres so we can build as planned.

So DH and I started TTC in May of this year (I have been off BCP since April of 05). I use OPK's but no luck so far. I have had basic blood work done (all normal) and DH just had an S/A (all fine except for a little low on his testosterone). So my Dr. started me on Clomid (50mg) CD 3-7. I can't get in and see an OB till the middle of Feb. so I have to wait until then to have any other kinds of test done.

So now I'm on CD 20 and approx. 7 DPO. I usually have a 24 day cycle but with the Clomid I O'd later than normal so it will probably be 27-30 days.

But I'm wishing that the "witch" doesn't show up at all!!!!! :wizard:

ps. sorry the post is so long...i'm in a chatty mood right now :blush:

Hi all~ Feeling pretty good here, DH even asked about BDing..... We still have several days until it our window, but a little practice can't hurt. :rotfl2:

Rebecca~ Sorry to hear about your living situation. I have a few friends who went through that too and it can be rough some days. There is no way i could live with family for an extended length of time; a week or so to visit but not to stay long term.

Michelle~ Sound's very good! I hope you're lucky this month. BFP's all around! :cheer2: I have a total of 4 of us hoping for a little something extra for Christmas; you, me, ashjohnson and helenabear. We'll have jingle bell babies.

ashjohnson~ A break is a good thing. You need to get away from all this once in a while. It'll help you focus again and help keep you motivated. You never know though, sometimes it just happens when you least expect it. (My dear friend Karen got pg the month she was supposed to start BCP for her IVF. 5 yrs and *poof* it happened out of the blue.)

Good luck to everyone trying and lots of :love: to every one sitting out this month.

I just posted an intro a few pages back but I'm Noni (33), DH (31) youngin's from previous marriage DD (almost 14) DD (12) and DS (almost 11) and a houseful of fuzzy babies. TTC for nearly 8 yrs, MF, poss annov. looking forward to IUI in Feb '07, right after our trip to the world.

Hi y'all! My grandma broke her hip and so I've been prepping my house and my dad's house for family who is coming on Saturday. My grandma lives 100 miles away so he has been staying there while I do things for him at his house.

I don't have much time online lately, so I'll be kind of MIA for a while I think.

I'll just have to say that there is no dumb question here and it took me forever to get the whole acronymns. Some I still have to look up ;)

CindyBeth, I think that waiting 6 months is kind of long for someone your age, but not shocking. My doctor is cool about things and suggests a year before testing, but will do it earlier. She also is one to push things for the insurance to approve (like multiple ultrasounds) since she finds some things more helpful than others. So every doc will vary with things, but 6 months would be considered probably normal for your age.

Michelle, woo hoo for the good news! As for me with drugs, none will be necessary. My body proved that it can produce everything it needs and actually did really well with hormones nad staying pregnant. Probably too well ;) Since the probably was identified to be an issue with the fetus (just one of those things if that makes sense) we're considered good to go naturally and most likely will not experience that again.

Ash, taking breaks can be a good hting! I know I've had to do that in the past as well. And in all honesty, we aren't really going to push being pregnant ever again. After a year, the stress and the miscarriage, I seem to have a whole different outlook on life with it. I finally found my peace. Even my best friend says I've mellowed in general so I will just take life as it comes to me!

Hi Noni :goodvibes

Yes...practice is a good thing :blush: :rotfl2:

No worries. They really aren't around that much. Dad is living in their 5th-wheel down in Eugene. He is doing consulting work on a project that will take about 2 years. So he only comes on on weekends (and not very many of those). Mom is down there alot because two of her siblings are fighting cancer right now. The only thing I don't like is not having our stuff. I miss my couch and I bought this beautiful bistro set that is still in the box :( But I know come spring, we WILL be building something. :thumbsup2

Well, we've survived family Christmas #1 (2 more to go), and there were only a few comments about DH & I having a baby, so it wasn't too bad. I got to give a bottle to one of the twin neices (4.5 mo. old) and D-step-SIL kept telling me how natural it looked, and how we should be bringing our own baby to the Christmas gathering next year. I wanted to say "would you leave it alone already? We're working on it, okay! Do you want all the details of my chart and our timing?" but I just smiled and said "we hope so, but we'll just have to wait and see."

My best friend had her baby yesterday morning, and I'm really happy for her, but I still am sad that we aren't going through all of this at the same time. Sounds like she had a fairly easy delivery, but they did have to do surgery to get the placenta out. Hopefully I'll get a chance to visit them in the next month.

I'm packing for our MN trek and trying to figure out how to use the OPK's and Pre-seed and dispose of them without drawing attention to our TTC! DH is cracking jokes already...and my dad can be a little crude in his humor, so I'm anticipating lots of teasing and jokes...:rolleyes: Ah, the things we go through for that BFP!!

I have been feeling so depressed lately. This is only our third month trying, but I am just so down. It seems like everywhere I turn, someone is pregnant. I just saw an old friend and he had two kids (both very unplanned) and I just think, why can't that be me? I know that I haven't been trying long at all, but it still upsets me.

I am suppose to O around the 24th, so I'm hoping for a nice "present". Good luck to all of you.

:hug: Amber. It's tough, I know. My cousin just had her twin girls yesterday. I received pictures today and it made me sad. I try not to get too down as it upsets my DH. Charting has helped me for some reason...I guess because so far we haven't BD'd at the right time! So I have something I know I can fix right now. Good luck to you!

And :hug: to you, Imarriedgrumpy, and everyone else having to deal with "the question" during family gatherings this weekend! Luckily, we have christmas at my house with just our parents and my SIL and her family so I'm not expecting much baby talk.

Okay ladies...I need an HONEST opinion as I'm having a moral dilemma! My cycle is longer so I O late, usually around CD20. I don't think we've BD'd at the right time yet as I just started charting and just noticed this! CD 20 falls on the first full day of our WDW vacation! I'm not sure if it would be okay if we BD with DS in the same room...we'd wait until he was sound asleep of course. I'm just not sure if that would be wrong. What do y'all think? I'd hate to miss a month of TTC, but at the same time, it just seems wrong to BD with DS in the same room!

I can't remember if I re-introduced. :guilty: The Geek Squad took my computer on Saturday to do a routine check for viruses, spyware, etc. On Monday, they said the hardware was all fine and they were just running scans and installing software. I called again last night and they said it will "probably" be ready today. I was so computer deprived, I loaded up on Zofran and Phenergan and had DH drive me to work!

Anyway....Carla....30...started trying at 27. My tests were mostly normal. Initial tests showed elevated LH, which indicates PCOS. I never got cysts though, so the doctors didn't think it was a problem. After my m/c and after 2 years and 2 failed IVFs, I demanded testing. Turns out I have a clotting disorder called MTHFR. I have the "good" kind though - or at least the kind that causes the least problems. :thumbsup2 DH has low count and low motility caused by low testosterone. We tried Clomid and IUIs. Over-responded. So, we moved to IVF after trying that twice. #1 and #3 failed. #2 was ectopic. #4 was the charm. :goodvibes I've been horribly sick this entire pregnancy, but I don't care. :sunny:

I didn't wait to see a doctor. After about 3 months off BCP, I noticed my cycles were irregular. That was my "in". My GYN did some blood and found my elevated LH. Most of the time, if you find a problem, insurance companies will waive whatever waiting periods they have and a lot of doctors won't make you wait for the basic tests - especially if you're self-pay and not constricted by insurance. :) If you're willing to pay for a semen analysis after 3 months, the doctor should order it for you. It's not up to them. You're the boss. Especially as you get older - it's so important to have FSH tested. It's a simple blood test. If you want it done and you'll pay for it if insurance doesn't, the doctor should order it. I hate when doctors try to make these types of non-medical decisions. I can understand them not rushing to do invasive tests, but simple tests? They should be done when the patient asks. And that's my rant of the day. :teeth:

Does anyone have an iPod dock? I'm looking for something that is sort of portable - i.e., I can take it from room to room and sit it on a counter. I want something that sounds good, obviously. I want something that runs on batteries or can be plugged in. I know Bose has a system, but it's expensive and it looks heavy and I really want something I can put in the office when I'm in there and then in the bedroom when I'm in there. Anyone have a good model? My mother keeps asking me what I want for X-Mas and this is all I want, but she won't buy it unless I tell her EXACTLY what it is. :rolleyes:
