Hello everyone! What an encouraging group! And congrats to the BFPs!!! My DH and I are TTC #2. We have a beautiful little boy who is our sunshine, but we would really love to have another child. We've been trying for a few months, and it looks like we will keep trying again next cycle...

I would love to join this group and I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Still trying to let it all sink in - doesn't seem possible that we'll be having a baby in mid-March 2007!

I've been trying for sooooooo long. 8+ years with DH#1 (charting, ovulation kits, then on to clomid, etc - talked with an RE once, that's when he bailed), and now 2 years with DH#2. Granted, it only took 2 months with an RE, but it seems like FOREVER!

I'm 35 1/2, DH is 41 - so this will probably be our only child.

All of you still trying, PLEASE don't give up! I'm a believer that this forum has some special that WORKS!

I have to go back on Wed & Fri for blood tests to keep checking my hormone levels. I also have to keep taking the Crinone (Progesterone gel).

Since everyone & their brother knew we were going through fertility treatments, they all pretty much know. My boss (female & a recent mom) keeps coming by to hug me and send websites on preg.

A note about midwives - Please don't discount the use of midwives categorically just because you have heard a few bad birth stories from friends or family. Bad birth stories can happen no matter who is attending the birth. Don't forget your pregnancy lasts 40 weeks, and you need a provider who will support you well for the entire time, not just at the birth. There are also many kinds of midwives - certified or not, affiliated with a hospital or not.

I used certified midwives with both daughters' births, and I could not have been happier with my experience. My midwives had hospital affiliation which is where I delivered. I also used them for my ectopic, and they were quick to consult with a doctor to make the ectopic diagnosis and to explain what was happening, and to be there to support me through it all. Throughout my pregnancy I was able to meet all the midwives, because I didn't know which one would be present at the birth. They were concerned not only about my health and the health of my baby, but also my general well-being. I found them very accessible, and willing to answer all my questions, no matter what time of day or how stupid they are. They ordered all the appropriate tests, and explained them in detail. I had a late ultrasound with Emily because I was measuring big, and she was breech. Hannah was a premie, and I spent 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital before I was induced. The midwives visited me several times a day, made sure I was comfortable answered my questions, sat with me when I was bored to tears, and supported me lovingly. They did whatever they could in terms of drugs I requested during labor. I continue to go to the midwives for GYN care, and am very happy with the services they provide.

If you are interested in a midwife, ask your GYN or RE for suggestions. My reference came from friends and from the person at Planned Parenthood, where I went for my PG test.

I have an appointment with my OB/GYN Thursday. I figured since I'm on an IVF break, I should have my parts checked out for the heck of it. I also have an appointment with my family doctor for next week. I want my colitis medication. He won't give it to me because of the IVF. So, does he not give it to anyone of child-bearing age? At least I know when I could potentially be pregnant and I could stop taking it after my transfer. I can't live like this anymore. And I'm not sleeping and I want Ambien. I'm hoping my GYN will give it to me so I can avoid my family doc (he thinks everyone is an addict just using him for his ability to write scripts). I could just go see my gastro (ah, the joys of the PPO), but why bother with that? I have to sleep soon or I'm going to go punchy. I fell asleep for 20 mns last night and woke up screaming, "Help me! Help me!" I have no idea why. Scared the heck out of DH. I'm taking a break...gimme the drugs!

I don't have a problem with midwives.

In fact I have used one with my second daughter.

However--just b/c a woman is poor..doesn't mean she should be delivered by the lowest bidder.

It sounds like from AllyandJack's story--that they treat childbirth as a natural event for poor moms--without genuine regard for their concerns (from her snippett).

They should be able to pick a doctor if they want to use one and if they don't feel their needs are being met.

FTR--I have a friend who is a midwife in Wales and all women are seen by a midwife unless complications present.

Lisa, just remember Becky...she got BFNs through 12DPO and got a BFP in the end. So, you never know....you could be happily hurling and wetting your pants in a few weeks. (I'm kidding, Beck..... ).

Awwww...I'm sorry! But if it's any consolation, with my first pregnancy I tested every other day from 9 DPO to 17 DPO...all BFN's. Then decided I'd give it one last shot at 18 DPO, and sure enough! BFP!! Good luck, there's still time!

Thanks for the good vibes. Sorry to hear about your sleeping problems. I have insomnia (have since college). I try not to take my script meds, so I drink a cup of warm milk with honey in it before bed and I have this microwavable eye pack (the Bed Buddy) that I bought at Bed, Bath & Beyond that I useto help me relax. Also, I use the bed for sex and sleeping only, and I always go to bed before DH. If he goes to sleep WITH me, I concentrate on him way to much. Works wonders. Are you able to take anything like Excedrin PM?

Don't give up hope... my RE wouldn't test me until 14dpo, and I've been having AF cramps for the last week or so - it can actually be a "good" sign!
