Jen, the HSG wasn't too bad for me. Thankfully, my tubes were clear. I hear it can be pretty painful if the tubes are blocked because they force the dye through in an attempt to open them. I was on anti-biotics for a few days. Take 4 Advil about an hour ahead of time - unless they give you something stronger. I self-medicated with a few Xanax since I was FREAKED out. My first IUI was awful and I figured the HSG would be worse and I was so scared. The worst part was the odd position. You're on an x-ray table, so there are no stirrups. You have to lay there with your knees bent, spread eagle. Not comfy. ;) Then, they put the speculum in, put the catheter in, and blow up a little balloon just inside the cervix to prevent the dye from coming back out. That was not pleasant. :guilty: I really didn't feel the dye since I was still reeling from the little balloon. :) It was over so fast, I barely had time to think about it. No lasting effects - drove myself home and everything. I went alone, but my doctor was there, so I didn't feel alone. It's a fast test. The radiologist kept trying to get me to look at the screen....they tried that trick with my colonoscopy. Didn't work then either! Then my doctor tried to keep me talking about my trip to WDW that was coming up. :)

Hmmm....Blue Cross can't confirm my approval. Great. "The IVF Girls" leave at 4pm and the other people can't get in their system. Whatever. DH is off to pick up some needles for the Lupron and is getting ONE vial of Lupron. I refuse to pay even a co-payment for anymore until this is all worked out. I am not looking forward to this tonight. :guilty: I just don't want a needle right now.

 Carla, I am so feeling for you right now. I have no clue what it must be like. But don't get discouraged! (I know- easy for everyone else to say). You are right, too- your embryos need you in tip-top shape (or as close as you can manage!).

But, I'm also worried about you "diving" back in when you aren't ready. :guilty:

Good morning everyone- reread the OP for the QOTD!!

QOTD: I am doing this right now and was wondering if anyone else does it. My bb's are definitely sore/tender- I can't be making that up, they're aching. But, I've also noticed other "symptoms" that could be just PMS... Gassy, bloated, peeing a lot and very thirsty. Maybe that's why I'm peeing alot... LOL. I'm making myself crazy, I'm sure.

The bad thing is, I will notice all the "symptoms" and then be disappointed when AF comes and it was just PMS.

QOTD 5/26: One of the benefits of being on so much medication is that I can't "analyze" symptoms. :thumbsup2 I had my first shot of Lupron last night and I'm already nauseaus. :guilty: The progesterone causes sore bb's and nausea. Plus, post-surgery, you always feel like crap. I guess it's a benefit. When I was pregnant, I didn't have sore bb's at all and I was convinced I wasn't absorbing the progesterone (turns out my progesterone was falling rapidly in response to the ectopic, despite the shots). By the time I was about 5w5d, the fatigue knocked me on my butt. Holy moly, I couldn't believe it. By 6w, the nausea was almost unbearable. I couldn't eat and I had lost over 10lbs.

Beck, when do you plan to test? You're 11DPO today, right? Are you going to hold off for the weekend? I don't buy tets, so I have some will power there, but you HAVE the tests.....I don't know if I could resist. :teeth:

The shot went well last night. For some reason, I started shaking. You'd think after all this time, I'd be OK with it. I numbed the area with a bag of frozen peas and DH worked his magic. I didn't even feel it. It was itchy though....which has never happened before. My poor cat, Ally, hates when I get the shots. She walks around me in the kitchen crying. :sad2: She sits at my feet meowing with a scared look on her face. I try to stay calm for her, but last night I was in a bad state and didn't do so great at the calm thing. ;)

Carla- glad the shot went at least ok. ;) It'll probably never be one of those things when you get done and say, "WOW! That was AWESOME!" :rotfl: Keep it up chick- you can do this!

Yeah- today is 11 dpo. I was going to try to hold out until Sunday (my birthday) BUT- I don't think I can. I have one more test in the bathroom, and I'm sure I'll probably torture myself with it tonight.

I have to go to wal-mart anyway, so I will probably pick up a box or two of cheapie HPTs. For further torture. :lmao:

One can never have too many pregnancy tests. At one point, I had my mother getting them from the doctor's office. The complicated kind where you have drop the urine onto in the little hole with the pink eye-dropper thing. :rotfl2:

My mother does my doctor's billing (she's one of about 4 people who have responsbility for my doctor, along with a few others) - which is why I am horribly annoyed at the insurance snafu. My mother doesn't know WHEN I'm doing IVF #3 - she has no idea I've started already. My doctor is being SO NICE and is billing me through her hospital and not her private practice. :goodvibes

Anyway....has anyone ever read Conceive Magazine? I got a free subscription through Fertility Lifelines, but I think you can get it at bookstores where their magazine section is huge. They have some really interesting articles. Cord Blood banking, nutrition while TTC, being psychologically ready for motherhood. Some of the stuff is infertility related, but they do a really good job at dealing with adoption, pregnancy, infertility, natural conception, and everything in between all at once.

My HSP was terrible! I was not prepared for it, and it really hurt a lot. I had some cramping afterward, and would not have been able to drive myself home.

They injected some oil after they did the test, and said that sometimes that helps things along.

They found scar tissue in my uterus, probably from the D & C I had after my ectopic. The tissue was tying the top and bottom of my uterus together. I ended up having a hysteroscopy which broke the scar tissue.

Every time I have been PG (4 times and several chemical PG's), my bb's were so sore I couldn't even let the water hit them in the shower. It was horrible. When I found out I was PG with Emily, I missed that sign. I was stil nursing Hannah, and I thought my tenderness was the result of nursing, and not that I was PG. I didn't find out until I was 7 weeks along - with Hannah the breast tenderness started the day after conception, I swear!

I am still thinking happy thoughts for all of you.

You know, I'm super happy to find this thread.

We have DS4 and are trying for another. Luckily DH and I do not have any medical issues, but it did take almost a yearto conceive the first time. We're trying afgain and I bought those Ovualtion Kits and nothing...

Its been two months. I know, two months is nothing when some of you have tried for years, but its really aggravatiing. I'm high risk, just found out I have a blood clotting disorder that caused my preeclampsia and HELLP with my first preganncy. Finding out about it was good becuase my OB-GYN put me on B vitamins, Folic Acid and a baby aspirin to prevent the recurrence of the preeclampsia and HELLP.

I'll be 33 in September and OB says, get pregnant fast. I'm not sure how too. I didn't read all 10 pages of the thread, but I heard something about tempetures, what is that? Any advice for getting pregnant quick would be really really helpful. I just want to be pregnant...

Good luck to all of you future moms. :grouphug:

Jen,

Best of luck with your HSG next week. I was very nervous before mine, but I got through it with no problem. I agree that the position you're going to be in is the most awkward aspect of the procedure. Hopefully you'll have really nice nurse techs there to hold your feet for you. The only thing that slightly bothered me was having a speculum "in there" for ~15 minutes. I would also suggest taking an advil or tylenol before going in. That will help you relax and it will help with the cramps. Even with open tubes I had cramps when I got home b/c the die was trying to come back out..ick.

Carla,

Is Lupron in the subqutanious(sp?) needle? I'm TERRIFIED of needles, but I swear I'm going to do what I have to in order to get pregnant. That includes letting my husband stick me with a needle every day :scared1:

The Lupron for IVF is sub-q. If you're using it for endo, it's IM like the progesterone injections after IVF. Some of the stim drugs are IM and, sometimes, the HcG trigger is IM. My only IM shots are the progesterone and they hurt. A lot. The actual needle itself isn't too bad because I ice the area with frozen vegetables, but sitting hurts and walking hurts and it's just not pleasant. I think they stop them at the 12 week mark, so hopefully the hips will recover just in time for the baby to cause round ligament pain! The sub-q isn't too bad - unless you go under the belly button. No idea why, but under the belly button hurts SO BAD and leaves a massive bruise. I'm with you though....I'll do what I have to do until the doctor tells me it's a lost cause. :goodvibes

So, DH called Blue Cross and tells me this, "The woman told me that the extentions are just phoned into the doctor's office. They don't send any paperwork out or anything." OK, so did they confirm the extension? When does it run out? "Well.....no....she just said that they call the doctor." OK, well isn't it in their computer that it was extended? "No." Umm....OK. So, how do I know they won't come at me in a month refusing to pay for this round because the original approval ran out? I'd be happy with a phone confirmation that, yes, they did call my doctor's office and extend my approval. DH said, "That's all she'd tell me." So, all she'd tell you is PROCEDURAL and you really found out NOTHING relating to whether or not they approved the extension? I am so :furious: :furious: :furious: .

Is HSG the test when they open up the fallopean tubes to see if anything is blocked? If so I thought that was so cool but it did hurt. Monday I go in for my pg test but I am feeling crampy and pmsing 12 po

Wow, I admit, y'all are really a wealth of knowledge here! My heart goes out to anyone who has to go through doctors to help get pregnant!!!

since I am short on time today...

QOTD: Honestly, I don't analyze symptoms unless they are there. That said, my PMS symptoms are very very "severe" physically for me, and everything usually is like clockwork for me. Even if I am a day early or late, the PMS symptoms are identical and last the same length of time every single month. Only one month a couple ago, did I actaully wonder if I was pregnant. Mostly due to total lack of PMS symptoms. I was just over a day late and I was considering testing... I went back and forth all day long and then later in the evening I saw the faintes twinge of blood. The next day terrible cramping and AF arrived. So truthfully, that one I am not sure if it was a super early miscarriage, and I did try to analyze that one. But with it, there were no symptoms of pregnancy, other than pure lack of PMS that month. As long as I PMS the same way, I doubt I'll wonder.

Good luck to all of you future moms. :grouphug:

Some of us are charting our basal body temperatures (the temp of your body when you first wake up). The reason is that your body temperature will be around a certain range, and once you ovulate, your temperature spikes for several days until you either get your period and your temp drops, OR you are pregnant and the temp stays up.

To learn about charting, check out "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler www.tcoyf.com

That book is awesome!!! Good luck to you and I hope you stick around; lots of great women on here and we all have lots of questions, lots of answers, shoulders to lean on and congrats to hand out, when needed!! ;) :grouphug:

Carla- I just got my first copy of Concieve mag about 3 weeks ago! It was good! Lots of great articles.

And yep- I broke down and bought two more hpts. Then I used one (equate this time)- BFN. Why, oh why am I doing this?

BECKY- BACK AWAY FROM THE STICKS. :lmao:

And the thing is- I don't know if it's just wishful thinking, but I really kind of feel like it happened.... Mostly just because my bb's have been SO SORE for like 4 days now. I don't know- I guess only time will tell. I hate waiting though. I'm so impatient. I just wish I knew one way or the other, you know?

Hi Everyone....I can give a glimmer of hope. I just joined this board recently and my story is a couple pages back.

I was waiting for my cycle to start, so I could start IVF round #3. Well, I don't have to do IVF....I took a test today (ok, 2 tests today) and I got 2 BFP's!!!!

Needless to say, hubby and I are in shock, because his numbers didn't increase all that much since his surgery. I think maybe, combined surgery and a 40lb weight loss on my part, played a small part in this..

We are very excited, but trying to keep it lowkey. I have told my parents and one aunt that I am really close with, that's it and that's all I want to tell for a little bit. We told everyone when the IVF worked the first time and a few weeks later, we had to tell them I miscarried.

Keep thinking positive!!!

TiggerStac- Congratulations!!!! I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!!! :woohoo: :goodvibes

OMG, Tiggerstac! That's awesome.....it seems the surgery worked. :Pinkbounc I don't blame you for keeping it hush hush....I'm not even telling anyone I'm doing IVF #3, let alone if it works. I might call 'em from the delivery room. ;) Keep us updated...when do you go for a blood test??

Lisa, yes, the HSG is that test where they push the dye through the tubes to see if it passes and dumps out the other end. The radiologist tried to distract me with pictures of my uterus, but I wasn't having any of that. :teeth: Good luck with your test on Monday. :wizard:

Becky....yes, step away from the tests....until tomorrow. No harm in testing ONCE a day, right? Just don't test more than once a day - waste of money!

So, I paged my doctor last night because BCBS told me to call her and find out what she was talking about because they have no idea. Nice. She called me back and said she has proof it was approved and not to worry. She asked me why I call them when she specifically told me not to deal with them. I'm the daughter of medical billers. I know if BCBS bails I'm going to be left holding the bill - the $12,888 bill. No, thanks! She told me to have more faith in her and her DH (who handled the insurance stuff).

The Lupron Thirst has kicked in. Yesterday, I drank 6 bottles of Poland Spring water. Today, I'm already on bottle #3 and it's only 9:30am! I hope the headache stays away since I'm only on the Lupron for a short time this cycle. Oh boy....hot flash. :sad2:
