djm - I am so sorry for your loss. I understand your feelings all too well. You are in my thgoughts.

skuttle - that stinks! Here's my take FWIW - since your cycles are so regular, and your temp stayed so high, I wonder if you had another chemical pregnancy this month. You are probably wondering the same thing. Even if your insulin resistance is better, and you are ovulating, you could still have some progesterone issues, or even a short luteal phase. I am pretty sure both of those problems can be corrected. Have you had blood work for those? If your gyn is not willing or able to do it, an RE is your best bet. Lots and lots of luck to you :wizard: .

I'm really sorry, DJM. :(

skuttle-- I'm sorry for your news, too!

Called today and have an appt for Dec. 6th, so I have one more cycle to try on my own.

Denae, I have wondered about another chemical pregnancy, even thought I never got a BFP this time. I've temped about 5 months total, and I've NEVER seen my temps get that high before (I wasn't temping the month of the chemical pregnancy). I did OPK's this month so I KNOW we BD'd on all of the right days. And I just wasn't feeling like myself. Plus, the past 3-4 months I've started on CD28. So I don't know. I plan on trying to temp all of this month again, and use the OPK's, so I have a nice chart for my appt.

The only test my gyn has done so far is the insulin resistance test due to my history. She seemed confident that that was my issue. But then the GP I saw last week said that my numbers weren't that bad. They did show insulin resistance, but he didn't think they were bad enough to give me trouble TTC. Of course, he's not an ob/gyn and not my regular GP, so I don't know.

My luteal phase is a big short. My gyn mentioned that at my annual. I O around CD17-20 and still usually have AF arrive around CD28-30.

So until my appt, I'll just keep trying to lose weight (11 gone so far!!). If I would have been pregnant, my due date would have been 2 days after DS's birthday so. So that woulnd't have been ideal...I would have taken it, of course, but thinking of that makes me feel a little better. I actually didn't cry this time. I think I'm beyond the crying..I'm just frustrated and want to find out what's going on.

By Dec 6th it'll be 8 months since my chemical pregnancy and 1 1/2 years of TTC. I sure hope that's enough for my gyn to start doing more. If not, I think I'm going to have to find a new dr. Do you have to be referred to an RE?

Question for those of you who have been tested and/or treated for fertility issues:

Has your insurance covered it?

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and I'm not entirely sure they cover any fertility treatment at all. I'm worried that if I need bloodwork done or if I need to go on Clomid for whatever reason, they're not going to pay. :sad2: I should probably call and find out, but I'm scared of the answer!

CheshireVal, I can help a little. I have BC BS and all of my lab work has been covered (mainly pregnancy test, thyroid, and prolactin) and the drug to make my period start was covered. I'm going on Femara instead of Clomid, but they are the same general idea, and covered equally. My doctor said that when it progresses past this point, that is when insurance can start getting more complicated. Technically, she said these aren't considered fertility treatments, which is what makes them covered. They are to promote ovulation, which isn't necessarily for fertility purposes, if I understand her correctly. The way she prescribed the Femara, one prescription is for 15 pills, which is 3 months worth, so I only pay one copay and get 3 months of the medication. Hopefully I will only need the first month's worth!

Oh, and if any of you are going to be taking Femara, someone shared this on another board. I'm not sure if I'm going to do it or not because I don't know if it applies since I'm not taking it for its intended purpose (it's a breast cancer drug).

30 days worth for free-I think. Gotta read the fine print.

I have BCBS as well. The coverage will depend on the company you work for and get the insurance from (not the actual insurance provider ie BCBS). My husband works for Schwan's and they actually have some infertility coverage. All my blood work was covered 80%. They cover 6 IUI's per child/per lifetime. I had an HSG that was covered 80% after my deductable. My Clomid was just the copay of $20 for the first time and $5 after that.

So just make the phone call or look at your benefit chart.

Allison - my insulin resistance was very mild, and I don't even have the problem anymore, but I got PG on the first month with Metformin. My RE said he didn't think the meds would make much of a difference, and wanted to continue the process with injectibles, but I wanted to give the meds a little while to work - and they did. good luck!

Val - coverage will vary from policy to policy, and from state to state. You really need to look at your certificate and/or call the insurance company. Your doctor's office may be able to help, too.

My first policy covered NOTHING - no testing, no RE visits, no meds. After we took a break from TTC, we got a new policy which covered testing, but not treatment. There is a whole lot of "treatment" that can be ligitimately considered "testing" so almost all of my treatment was covered - I don't think it covered the Clomid.

Denae

Okay, I had Human Resources send me a copy of the certificate, and it says that infertility treatments (in vitro, artificial insemination) are excluded, but doesn't really say anything about Clomid or any other treatments.

I'm just looking for trouble, though... I won't worry about it now!!

Skuttle - I"d call your GYN, and look for a referral. If they diagnosed insulin resistance on one test, and don't want to treat you for it, I"d be looking for someone who would. I think the metformin they put me on for the same thing was what did the trick.

DJM - I'm so sorry

Val - Our BCBS covered the clomid and the testing, and would have covered IUI, but not IVF. Talk to the billing people at your office (if you have to go that far). They're pretty good about what will and won't be covered, and how to code things to get them covered.

I have GHI. It's, I guess, the main Insurance company of NYC.... So when I went to the RE the other day, there was a paper on the table. WELL, IN CASE IT GOT THIS FAR.... GHI coveres all but 25%, this includes IN VITRO!!! I couldn't believe it!!!! With all the testing, bloodwork, sonograms, egg retrieval, sperm washing, etc, etc, etc that comes with in vitro, I'd only be responsibe for $3500, instead of the $12,000 (or something like that!)
(I guess it pays to be a NYC cop! I'm covered under DH's insurance.)

Today is day 9 of my cycle and my last day taking clomid. I have no side effects other than some night sweats. I'm still worried about my total absent CM, even though I shouldn't O still for about a week.
I hate all this waiting and this is now on my mind 24/7. At work, at home, in bed before I sleep! I just have this feeling of doom. I know I could get preg., but for some reason I feel like my body doesn't want to be. Almost like I can't believe it will ever happen.

Jen, my gyn had mentioned Metformin when she first sent me for the test. Then, after the results came back, she just had me follow up with my GP. My GP wanted to try diet and exercise first to try to control it before jumping straight to the meds. When I went for my 6 week followup with my GP, I had to see another Dr. I received a call the week of my appt saying my GP would be out for a while and that I could wait until December to see her or see her associate. So, I saw the associate, and he was the one that just said, yep you've lost weight, keep it up, and see your gyn because I don't think your numbers are that bad. I know my regular GP didn't schedule me for a 6 week followup just to tell my congrats, you've lost weight. She would have done more because she knows I'm TTC. Her associate didn't even know that so he was useless.

So, I'm going back to my gyn and will explain what happened to her. Hopefully she will start me on something. Or at least run another insulin test to see if the diet and exercise are working. I really don't want to switch dr's, but I know it's time to move on from just the waiting game. I was really shocked and hurt when my gyn had me followup with my GP re the insulin issue in the first place.

Skuttle - not to be dumb, but did your GYN do a glucose tolerance test too? It seems kind of funny that they wouldn't do that (easier to interpret and to do) if they did an insulin test, which is a bit harder to interpret (more variation in the values and what is actually considered normal). It couldn't hurt to ask them to do a 3 hour glucose tolerance. Except for drinking the nasty drink.... :)

Jen, that's the test I did. It was the glucose test. She kept calling it testing for insulin resistance. I went in at 7:30am, had my blood drawn then drank that nasty drink. I had my blood drawn 3 more times. It was a 2 hour test.

I'm on CD 11 and I still have a 'clomid' headache!!!
today I noticed alot of creamy CM (TMI), but I don't care, :rotfl: cause I'm happy about that!!! ;) Looks like that will not be a side effect of clomid for me.
I'm worrying about being pregnant. I don't like being pregnant, I just want the result of it :)
If I happen to get preg. this cycle, the next nine months are going to be torture for me. I have major anxiety, so this is just going to aggrivate it!
How are the other clomid girls doing??

:cutie: I am not sure if this has been mentioned but just in case it hasn't, some women have luck with some types of difficulty conceiving by taking a tablespoon of Robitussin prior to "trying".
It thins the mucus and allows the sperm to reach to its goal.

DJM--My deepest sympathies.

Allison--I would seriously get an appt. with an RE, if for no other reason than an RE will get the ball rollin'. None of this wait and see stuff. Get some answers, you know?

I go in for the IUI tomorrow at 9:45 am. I was super excited, but now I am just super nervous!

GypsySue - good luck with the IUI. Hope everything goes well.

Hi ladies, I am hoping I can jump in here with you all! I am currently ttc #2- we have been ttc now on and off for 2 years, but making more of an effort the past 3-4 months. I am on day 21 of my first round of Clomid.

My past history is rather complicated, but I will try and keep it short, lol- ttc with my first baby for a year, got pregnant, but had a lot of complications from the start, and was on bed rest. We lost our son Gabriel at 5 1/2 months due to a triploidy. Had to have a de&c because I was so far along.

We started trying again about 4 months later, and conceived after about a year again; I miscarried at 10 weeks that time, and had to have another d&c; test results showed another triploidy. We were advised by 2 groups of doctors not to ttc again.

We made the incredibly tough decision to put ourselves in God's hands, and ttc yet again, and I became pregnant again about a year later with ds. I had a very rough pregnancy, seeing a perinatologist, having a placenta previa, insulin-dependant gestational diabetes, being induced.....which didn't work, and I ended up with a c-section about 40 hours into labor. Good news was, Josiah was born happy and healthy! He is now 4, and I am really wanting a sibling for him.

I have been diagnosed with mild insulin-resistance, but I am just treating with diet for the time being. Like I said, I am on my first round of Clomid- I have been on it before, but it actually never worked for me yet, so I am not gettin my hopes up.

Oops, so much for a short post! :scared1:  Sorry! Lots of baby dust to everyone else here!
