Hi ladies!

I had my appointment with OB/GYN yesterday, and got to see my regular doc instead of the one that delivered Christopher. He said a 12 week cycle isn't really odd, considering the PCOS and how close to delivery I am. He did think it would be smart to start the Clomid and Glucophage again, since it took quite a while last time. So - back to the cranky pills I go! Hopefully, this will be quicker than last time

Have a nice night

jen

Jen...Good luck with the meds! How long did it take you to get pregnant last time after you started meds?

Aurora... Make sure you write down all of your questions when you go to your appt so that you can get them answered. You aren't the first, or the last, woman to TTC with irregular periods! Hopefully your appt will give you some sort of "game plan" that will ease your concerns. :goodvibes

For you girls that use OPK's...do you test once or twice per day? What time of day do you find is best? I know I"m not supposed to test in the morning. Is after work (5:30/6:00pm) too late? I suppose I can carry the strips and a cup around with me in my purse if I need to!! Just have to make sure I keep it in that "secret" compartment so it doesn't fall out. LOL!

On a happy note, DH received the confirmation from WDW that his band was accepted for the program they applied for so our trip in February is officially official. :) I'm hoping by then I'll need a new wardrobe...either maternity clothes or smaller clothes. :teeth:

Jen, good luck with the Glucophage and Clomid. It should do the trick since it did a good job before. I'm a little tense being off the Metformin since they said it can reduce the miscarriage rate. My OB says not to worry, but that's what I do!

mla, congrats! :dance3: I love busting out these dancing things!

Hi- I work nights, so my schedule is never consistent. So I test twice a day. It also makes me feel like I have a better chance of hitting my window. Maybe test at lunch then again at bedtime. I know you're within 24-36 hours of ov once it's positive (2 lines the same shade), but as soon as I see a second line we start bd! I continue to test until the line fades again, while bd all along. This is my second cycle since mc, so we'll see how it goes. I also chart the day I get my positive ov stick, and I've noticed it has been right on day 11. This only works if your cycles are consistent, though. PM me if you have any more questions!

Anyone else in the 2ww with me? Let's have a sticky baby dust party!

Kelly, thanks for the info! I temped for about 6 months and my O was usually around CD18-20 and my cycle length was always around 28-30 days, so I guess I'm pretty regular. I'll see how this month goes, but I'll probably have some questions! LOL! Good idea about the temping...I'll try to do that! Guess I'll have to buy a pack of plastic cups to keep at work!

I have been doing internet searches on intrauterine insemination and every time I type it I think of the Golden Girls (yes--I watch the Golden Girls!) episode where Dorothy and Rose are writing a song about Miami for a contest:

Dorothy: The lyrics don't make any sense. See, it goes, 'Miami is nice, so I'll say it twice...'
Rose: Oh! Well, how about, 'Miami is nice, so I'll say it thrice?'
Dorothy: Right, who the hell says thrice?
Rose: It's a word!
Dorothy: So is intrauterine. It does not belong in a song!!
Rose: (singing) Miami, you're cuter than an intrauterine.

Haven't been posting, but I've been reading as much as I can. We're actually in the airport right now waiting for the flight home. Just wanted to post to let you know I got a BFP the morning we left! We're so excited. Of course it meant no specialty drinks for me on the cruise, but it's worth it.

Congrats Lauren! :thumbsup2 I would agree a few drinks are def worth the trade!

How is everyone else? I went for my annual pap this am. Of course I'm surrounded by babies and ladies with bumps, so I'm a little down in the dumps. :worried: I o'd about a week ago, so I'm just holding off to see that hopefully this time it happened for us. It's hard to keep my mind on anything else! :rolleyes2

You are so not alone! I think of that too every time I hear IUI.

I had my first RE appointment last week. He was OK. He seemed competent but not very warm or encouraging. He was matter-of-fact and neutral about everything, but maybe you have to do that when you're surrounded by hormonal ladies on a quest to conceive. :confused3

His office staff is really, really nice, though. I had a blood draw and ultrasound on Thursday. They said my thyroid and prolactin looked fine, for whatever that means. The post the results online and I could see that my LH:FSH was off, in classic PCOS fashion.

The ultrasound was kind of cool, at least for the fact that they had a little screen you could watch so you could see everything the tech saw. I had a thick lining, but no sign of ovulating, so they're putting me on Provera to bring on AF (who should arrive right in the middle of our vacation--thanks, doc!).

After we get back from vacation I have to do the HSG, and in the meantime DH goes in for testing this week. I'm assuming if all that checks out I'll start my first Clomid in Nov.

I haven't had success getting back into temping so I may try the OPK's. I do have a question about that, though. After temping for 6 months or so, I seem to O late...around CD19/20. When should I start the OPK's...around the "average" CD14, or wait until closer to CD19. I have no idea how expensive these things are...If they are cheap enough I guess I could do it starting from CD14 just in case. I don't know. Any thoughts?

I buy the cheap CVS brand OPK's because first response for 7 sticks is $30!!!!! I usually O pretty late so I start testing at day 16. (Though since my 2nd misscarriage, my periods are so screwed up!)
My next RE appt is on Oct24th. I'm under orders from my doc to do OPKs. But lately, I will have a LH surge, but then not ovulate. Wierd...
Good luck with everything! The cheap tests work just as good as the First Response ones.

Kelly.. I had my annual in August and it is tough!

Pearlieq...Good luck with everything! The fact that your RE has a great staff is a big plus since you'll be dealing with them probably more than the actual RE.

Dznylvr...I found some cheap OPK's from Walmart so I bought those. I took one at lunch time today at work, but the control line never showed up. :confused3 I think I didn't leav it in the cup long enough. And I forgot to take one when I got home. I may have to do like I did with the pill...set my cell phone alarm so I don't forget!

I go in tomorrow for a consult. DH's brother and his wife have just announced they are expecting. I can't even look at her. I did pretty well seeing them this weekend. I only had to leave the room once to cry, followed by a mini-panic attack. I have "issues" with them anyway, because they "stole" our wedding date. She also says things frequently that I know she truly doesn't mean to be hurtful, but they are (i.e. when she told me that "everybody" says she gets to have the next baby...way before she got pregnant, when we've been married about the same amount of time, etc...not sure why she thought that)

It was worse because they told DH by phone, even though we were seeing them this weekend. I had time to just dread it...if they had told us in person, I would have been forced to put on a happy face and then I could've dealt with it privately and had enough time to recover before seeing them again.

Ugh. At least Dh's sister knows what's going on, and I've told his mom a little now because I wanted her to understand why I didn't want to talk about it anymore than we had to.

Hmm... I've used the cup kind too and what I do is leave the stick in the cup until I see the 'pee' creep up the stick. I think it was called Answer OPK's.
It says the best time to do an OPK is 4 hours after the last time you drank any liquid and also 4 hours without uriniating. Says in my OPK pack anytime between 10-4 I think is the best time. You 'should' see a line (a very faint line) even if you aren't at your peak since you always have LH in your system. Try taking the test again. Good Luck!!:goodvibes

Hi ladies! I apologize for not keeping up very well at all. I haven't been keeping up anywhere on the DIS, trust me! :sad2:

I could use a little pixie dust, and/or prayers for patience. I have had 4 days of stims for our first IVF cycle (today is day 5 of stims) and my E2 was only 31  :guilty:

I understand that it matters most what it turns out to be at the end of the cycle, but I think this is going to eat at me until Friday when they repeat the tests!

On the bright side, the u/s showed at 3-4 follicles on each side, and my RE said I'm "stimming well". I hope he's right, but an E2 that low screams stupid, useless follicles to me!

This whole thing sucks!

What's the size of the follicles? My RE goes by 100 per mature follicle. You are not very far into things...so don't get discouraged (I know it's hard) Also, remember the 1st time they do this...they totally guess as to how you will respond. When I did the stims the 1st time I had very bad response with lupron. The next round I had quadruple the amount of follicles...so hang in there:hug:

Thanks Kristine. I'm trying to take your advice! :goodvibes He didn't take time to measure the follicles, I assume he'll do that at my next check (Friday). Originally, when he said things looked good, he said I would go on Friday and he would likely schedule my ER. Now, they are saying they'll "see if they can schedule it or if he wants to see me in a few more times".

Hopefully I'm just a bit sluggish, and things will be moving along Friday. I just hate waiting that long!

"waiting"...welcome to the world of IVF...that's all you do is wait

Courtney...I'm so sorry. Been there, done that...and it is tough!! I'm sure the history you have with them doesn't make it any easier either!

Dznylver...I'm using the answer ones as well. I thought I saw the pee creep up, but I guess not! I've been doing them at around noon and then again when I get home at 5pm. I stop drinking water 2 hours before I go..I wonder if I should wait longer. I'm just not sure if I can go 4 hours without water!

Jennifer...Hang in there! I'm not too familiar with all of the IVF stuff, but I do wish you well. Waiting is tough!

I have to share one thing with you girls since, I assume, we all love WDW since we're on the DIS. One of my best friends lives about an hour from WDW. She LOVES thrill rides, but never really loved WDW like I do. I told her that we are definitely going in February and asked if she would like to meet us at a park one day. We can't go visit her because we're going with DH's high school band kids. I gave her our itenerary so they could pick a park. She said they probably wouldn't do MK with us because they just did it for the Halloween party (with my pregnant friend and her family)...she said she was glad it was just for a few hours because they were running out of things to do! :faint: She just doesn't get it, I guess!
