dh and i are ready to buy a big family vehicle. any comments on this minivan will be greatly appreciated. is that how you spell it. :D

We test drove one and loved it. If it werent for the price we would have gotten it. Honda is a great car.

My parents have done a lot of research and have test driven one several times and they love it. They just finished paying off one of their cars so they are saving up a little before buying one. My Mom got rid of her last minivan when my sister went off the college but she found that she really missed the room especially when they travel. My parents figure they will be traveling more in the next couple of years to see grandkids, etc. so they want to be comfortable.

I have never test-driven one but DH and I are also looking at one. We won't be buying another car for probably two years but we will seriously look at the odyssey when the time comes. Hopefully my parents will buy one first and then we can just play with theirs. :) :teeth:

I had one, and apparently, I must have had the only lemon that Honda makes in the Odyssey - everyone I know loves theirs, but we absolutely hated ours. We had so many problems with that vehicle, which fortunately were all under warranty, that we ended up selling it 2 years after buying it new. Apparently it wasn't just us, because the people who bought the van from the dealership we sold it to later contacted us regarding its maintenance - they were having major problems with it and were having to shell out $$$$.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it! Nice vehicle, nice ride. We splurged for the DVD system and it works well for the rides with the kids. The captains' chairs in the second row work well for the "he/she's touching me" - altho they can still reach each other. The fold-down third row offers up A LOT of room in the back.

I had a '98 dodge caravan and liked that - traded it in and drove a '94 volvo wagon for a while but missed the space. Decided to do the mini van route again and I test drove the chrysler town & country and the ford windstar. Couldn't find a toyota sienna to drive. The Odyssey was by far my favorite. I also found some sites on-line where people just raved about their vehicles.

good luck with your search!

Jill

It is a wonderful minivan. I don't think you would be disappointed with it. For anyone that likes the Odyssey but can't quite stomach the price, look at the Mazda MVP. It is almost as nice but doesn't cost as much.

We bought the Mazda MVP 2 years ago NEW for less than the 2-3 year old Odysseys were selling for. We like it and it does have the third row bench seat that drops flat into the floor for extra cargo space, just like the Odyssey.

It is a great van.....we have had ours a couple of months now and it is worth the money. The ride is far better than any other van out there.

Good Luck

I've been driving minivans for years. My Odyssey is the fourth minivan I've owned. I've had the Astro, the Villager and the Sillouhette. My Odyseey is the best minivan I've ever had! We splurged this time and got the one with the drop down DVD screen, it's awesome, the kids love it on trips. I love the way the seats in the back fold down flat, there is so much room back there for loading stuff. It drives like a car, and it holds 7 people comfortably. We have the automatic doors on both sides, how did I ever live without that? I am a big Honda Odyssey fan!

I love my van! We bought it when I was pregnant and thank god we did. I don't know how anyone gets away with having a car with a baby. It seemd like we pack the van full of just her things when we go anywhere. I love the auto doors too! When we were on vacation last month and had a full size car...I hated it. I missed my van so much. I felt so crowded. It is easy to park, a joy to drive and safe safe safe! I would get one again in a heartbeat!

We just test drove one yesterday. Our '03 Silhouette (Versatrak) is just too bouncy over bumps for our DS in the back seat. Didn't realize that would be a problem when we bought it, but it is.

DH's research indicates that the Odyssey has the smoothest ride. We also have the entertainment system in our present van, as well as the back-up sensors. With a teenaged driver, I really want to keep those sensors!

How smooth is the ride after 2 or 3 years?

We bought our used and it is 2 years old. Drives like a dream! I actually think it drives better than the Buick rental car we had.

Snoopy, I had a lemon, too. It was the third EX that my dealership received, and the kinks just never got out of it. I loved the van, but hated how well I knew my service tech. I sold it to CarMax for a ton of money, and bought an '02 model. I love it. Haven't had it in the dealership yet for warranty work.

Two of our neighbors have Odyssey's and really like them. But, there tain't no deals on price with them. We liked the neighbors but, could not get over the $5000 grand more in price than our Ford van. We'll look at them again when this van is really to retire to see if they'll deal on the price.

Another LOVE OUR ODYSSEY vote here! We looked at both the Odyssey and the Sienna (had bad luck buying American in the past)...the thing that sold me on the Odyssey???....the trunk!!! It's enormous and great. We've had ours for 3+ years and have never had a problem. It's a great vehicle!

We've had our for about 3 months now. Traded in a 95 Caravan for it. We love the Odyssey.

We bought the Caravan "on price"....well, you get what you pay for. You only have to pay for quality once.

Sure, you'll pay less for a Dodge or Ford, but five years down the road, you'll wish you paid more for a quality product.

We've got some Windstars where I work....just feels flabby and cheap compared to the Honda. Ford doesn't seem to sweat the details.

I'd buy a Dodge/Chrysler before I'd buy a GM or Ford.

GM must spend all their money on cute little marketing phrases instead of vehicle development. How did the Pontiac Aztek ever make it to production? Surely somebody with some cojones in the company should have stood up and said "are you serious?".
The "Professional Grade" commercials....can you get any more pretentious than that?

thank yall so much. i was approved today for 4.5% finacing. we our going this weekend to look. a local dealer has 3000.00 off odysseys!!! it's my first car to buy over 20,000. i'm so excited. i've had 3 hondas. never had any problems. we were suprised when i got pregnant. i had just bought a civic a month before we found out we were expecting. it is very hard trying to fit a family in a civic. i'm a good researcher. i've never paid more than 500.00 over the invoice for any new car. honda's odyssey has some extremely high ratings. my aunt use to own one,and she loved it. hopefully by the end of next week i will be in one. ;)
