Any one file an insurance claim with the Post Office on Ebay auction??

Never mind ... the OP said exactly what I was going to say.

Doesn't anyone else watch Antiques Roadshow? They always say that an antique toy with its original box is worth more than just the toy alone.

The matter of value is probably going to be immaterial. With the inside of the box filled with something the right size and shape to maintain the integrity of the shape of the packaging, the item will probably be determined to be improperly packed.

USPS doesn't automatically cover it unless its sent I think Express, maybe priority. Otherwise you have to purchase insurance which will be the amount purchased.

She did buy the insurance.

I would be too. If it is, pm me your address. I'm going to ship you an old dog toy, insure it for $100, and then file a claim. We can split the $100!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, this isn't (more than likely) going to get paid by the USPS. Then the responsibility falls on the seller. Just because the money is already in his pocket, doesn't mean he can't file a claim with the cc company. Which he should've done in the first place.

I will send you an address and bid 100.00 on that old dog...WOW is this going to be the easiest 100.00 dollars ... if they do pay for such a claim.

If the old dog is an auction, and you bid $100, and she then insures it, it gets damaged and you go to the post office and show the damage, and the eBay form, where you bid for that, and proof of payment, you will get the insurance money (minus the shipping costs and insurance costs, and the seller will pay the ebay & paypal fees). If you sign the insurance form and they decide you were committing fraud, it might not go as you think for either of you. If you aren't caught commiting fraud, you will be $100 richer, and I guess you will think you pulled something over on the post office.
