I dont do pedicures. But the fish pedi keeps coming up on Groupon and I am quite intrigued. Just wondered if it is perhaps worth considering :)

OH MY GOD LEE:scared1: I cannot think of anything more horrid than fish pecking at my feet. I do have to say Im fish phobic though;) Cant look at them eat them or be in the same area as them BUT my friend had it done and she loved it and said her feet had never felt better. I would pass out but if your not a fish phobic silly woman you will be fine:lmao: Let me know if you go

I haven't personally but a friend of mine had it done last month. She said her feet ended up in a worse state than before the pedicure :confused3

I don't mind having my feet touched but I don't think I could bare having fish nibbling at me :scared1:

Are you a fish phobic:rotfl: Its like patients who have maggots put on their leg ulcers.Makes me cringe.

You made me laugh when you said your friends feet ended up worse. No teeth marks I hope. Sorry.

I don't think you have to eat them at the end of the session - they certainly don't mention it being a requirement :rotfl2:No, I dont have a fish phobia obviously. ;) And it is fish, not crabs and lobsters so they seemed safe enough

It sounds interesting though. ;)

.

For some strange reason I don't see maggots and fish in the same category. Perhpaps I am strange :rotfl:

No teeth marks thankfully  She did say though that it took her ages to get them right afterwards. She ended up with more dry skin than she started with and horrid white marks on her feet that took weeks to go away

Oh you lot are no help at all! I feel like booking one now just because of all these comments :lmao:

I will weigh in at the other end of the spectrum. I have had a fish pedicure once or twice a month since last October. To put things into context, I absolutely hate having my feet touched so a standard pedicure is out. I am extremely ticklish. To make matters worse, I suffer from eczema on my feet and this comes with severe dry skin that used to crack and then get infected. I say it used to. Since I have had the fish pedicures, I no longer have those problems. As long as I make an appointment as soon as my feet start to itch again, I am golden.

The first time I had this done, it tickled a little for the first couple of minutes, but then I got used to this and found this really relaxing. Nowadays I do not get the tickling sensation at all anymore, but just get relaxation as soon as I put my feet in the tank. I would definitely recommend this.

thanks Dolphingirl. I am going to keep my eyes peeled for the next groupon offer and will report back. Alyson, i promise not to post pics :rotfl2:

Now that's just gross:scared1:

I have a great (ok, maybe not great) idea for a horror movie where pirahnas are substituted for calmer fish???

I'll write the script while enjoying my pedicure and send it to you to proof read ;)

I had one, while waiting for my flight to Cape Verde @ Manchester Airport. Daughter paid for it for mothers day...it was a peculiar feeling. Bit like pins and needles in my feet but would definately have it done again. It cost £12 for 15 minutes. Daughter didn't like it - she did have a rather fat fish hanging onto her foot!!! They sort of nibble your skin!

I personally wouldn't have one as those little critters would just freak me out :rotfl: but my DD had one, and in her own words 'it didn't tickle, it just felt weird'. They did a great job on her feet and I know she's thinking of having her feet done again :)

Remember after they have nibbled away at your feet for a while they will crap in the same water you have your feet in!

:lmao: I am not put off that easily Tim, lol.

Okay, so for those of you who have done one of these pedicures, were your feet very sensitive after for a while? Just wondering if I should take some comfy shoes like crocs for after. (Hmm, looks like I have already made up my mind here!)

Oh lee this thread has really made me laugh. I know u wanted sound advice and give it a go. Then u can tell us how wrong we all are.

To be perfectly honest, I posted this because I had become interested as it keeps popping up everywhere lately, yet I don't know anyone who has been for one. I was curious enough that I thought it was worth considering. However the first few posts expressing sheer horror at the very notion of fish eating at your toes made me decide that I am definitely going to have to see for myself. If I don't like it, I don't have to go back. :) But I am pleased to have provided the entertainment :rotfl:

Does anyone know how long they recommend that you sit with your feet in a fish bowl? I see that it is billed in 15 minute sessions - just wondering how many sessions are recommended for it to be effective.

DD has asked about these but we have so far not allowed it.

I am sure I read that Environment Health are investigating wether the UV filters are sufficient to kill bacteria.

:rotfl2:I shall tip them off when I make the appointment and suggest that the push the fact that some bacteria is healthy. ;)

No, not at all. The fish have no teeth and they just gently remove the dead skin.

Here in Manchester they are offering 15 minute and 30 minute sessions and I usually got for 30 minutes. 15 minutes just does not seem long enough.
