I'll be attending a wedding for my nephew over July 4th weekend and have no idea of what's in the Greensboro area. We'll be either driving or flying from Massachusetts. How far is the Raleigh/Durham airport from Greensboro? I don't want to fly into Greensboro if it means taking a puddle jumper for a plane.

What's there to do in the Greensboro area for a day or so?

One more question-how far is it to drive from Baltimore to Greensboro? I'm thinking maybe flying to Baltimore to do a little sightseeing either before or after the wedding.

I don't know what there is to do in Greensboro, but I can tell you that the Raleigh/Durham airport is about an hour and 1/2 from Greensboro.

Hi!

Doll Market is one of the largest doll stores in the United States. It is only a couple of miles from the nice mall. They have a website, dollmarket.com

Regina in NC

I remember seeing ads for Emerald Point (a water park) and NC Zoo is in Ashboro---but I not sure on the time and distance. There is a good mall in Greensboro---I think it is something like Four Seasons (?). NC has a good tourist site, www.visitnc.com, which could help furthur. Old Salem sounds fun---its in the Winston-Salem area which takes about 30-50 minutes from Greensboro (depends on traffic). There is a car dealership off of exit 214 (I think) that sells porshes and ferraris. There are a lot of resteraunts there like Cracker Barrel, Fuddruckers, and maybe Steak-n-Shake. I could tell you more in a couple of weeks since I might be going to TN on rt.40.

Don't know where you are in Mass. But, there ARE non-stop flights from BOS to GSO. If you are in the western part of the state, ie: Springfield, there aren't non-stop flights from Hartford. You would connect either thru Charlotte or Cincinnati. Either way, no 'puddle-jumpers' are involved. Probably would be on the Embraer <sp?> jet, seats about 50 passengers.

I'm in Burlington NC, 20-25 min. from Greensboro and hour from Raleigh. GSO International is on the outskirts of Greensboro, We've found when flying to Orlando, we often get better rates out of RDU.
Four Seasons Town Centre is a nice mall, there is a Sheraton next door. Restaurants in that area: BoneFish, Nascar Cafe, Carrabas, Chili's. One exit further, there's more shopping like Target, Kohl's, Old Navy, Linens'n'Things, Sam's Club, CostCo., etc. There is also Friendly Shopping Center with Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Rep., Chicco's, Gap,...
I have small kids so I don't know about the "night life" anymore. Warning, be prepared, July in NC can be a scorcher. 90+ degrees and 90%+ humidity. Frizzy hair is a given. I'm sure someone on these can give more info. Have a great trip!

Hey Hey.....

Well I am from Greensboro and there are no puddle jumpers involved in things. PTI is a great un congested airport! As for things to do here hmm....

There is always visiting High Point the Furniture Capital of the World is you are interested. (about 20 mins from the airport)

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park if you are into historical stuff.

Natural Science Center if ya like science stuff.

Emerald Point Wet and Wild Water Park for wet and wild fun.

The NC Zoo is in Asheboro, that isnt too far away from Greensboro.

Children's Museum for the younger kids.

Then you have the traditional ice rink, roller rinks, bowling alleys, golf courses, shopping malls and various food establishments.

PTI is about an hour away from the Raleigh Durham Airport, but it is a straight shot down 40! Any other questions..just ask!
