I'm working out of state and haven't heard any local reports. Is there any indication yet of which way the voting is going?

Nothing yet. It's way too early to tell.

Yeah, I figured. Thanks! (I'm just really impatient).

I've a news junkie, got AM radio and the TV going! :lmao:

As soon as we hear anything I'll be sure to post, but I doubt anything will be announced till around 8 or 9 tonight.

Thanks, Mike. I know even with early reports things can drastically change (Gore v Bush, yah) but even so...

I'm having a really hard time concentrating today. :confused3

I've been searching online and have my fingers crossed that reports that it will fall just below the passage threshold are accurate.

well Obama is winning FL thus far and that's good news for the amendment

This night is going to drive me loopy!

So far CNN has it 60% yes 40% NO with 27% reporting....so way to early

Man, this is going to be one long night. I'm in SC, yes that SC the state that went with McCain. Just got in from dinner a little while ago and nearly croaked. The news had Obama losing. I know it was way too early, but it was hard to see anyway.

Feel a bit better as it's leveled out a bit, although too early yet.

SC is reporting on the status of their amendments. Was hoping that FL would have something to project at this time.

Something good has to come from all this stress.

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting For Amendment 2 38% reporting, 61.8% yes, 38.2% no.... Still too early...:confused3

lets move everything to the election thread so I don't have to check so many threads at once =P

Okay, I've had three people here at work stop by my office and offer their condolences on the passage of Amendment 2 this morning.

Two of those three people said that they voted against it, and thought that if it passed Scott and I would be able to marry legally.

I thanked them for voting against discrimination, but it got me thinking.

How many people thought that if they voted against Amendment 2, that they were voting FOR legalization of gay marriages in Florida?

I've already run into two people who thought exactly that! (And my office only has six people in it, and I've spoken to all of them about Amendment 2.) :scared1:

How many other people voted FOR Amendment 2 because they thought that a vote against it would mean legal gay marriages?

Are people out there THAT uniformed?

Did we do that poor of a job explaining what was at stake?

in short, yes. If the campaign was run anything like it was in WI, the Yes people were telling everyone a no vote is a vote for gay marriage because it will pave the way for "activist judges" to allow gay marriage.

I don't recall any of that, here.

Just lots of "protect the children!" nonense.

Protect them from WHAT, exactly? :confused3

From the fact that gay people raise gay children and straight people raise straight children, remember? Because ya know, we were all raised by gay parents and are gay because of it.

No really, the absolute base, I don't care what anyone says, is the religious vote. The reason people are against our rights is because of religion. 80% of people in CA who voted yes are church goers. That statistic speaks volumes.

I would guess that an equal number of people FOR the ban voted no thinking they were blocking gay marriage.......

That's always been my question! :confused3 Does anyone ever stop to ask that, and what really would they respond? (where's the grumbling emoticon when you need one?)

Whenever I hear that I want to bust out singing "The Mob Song" from "Beauty and The Beast" - in hopes that someone would pick up it's the same thing, and just as stupid.

Come on everyone lets sing it together.. who wants to be Gaston?

"Belle:
Show me the Beast!
Mob:
(Scream)
Maurice:
That's him! That's him!
Woman:
Is it dangerous?
Belle:
Oh, no. No, he'd never hurt anyone.
I know he looks frightful, but he's really very gentle and kind.
He's myfriend.
Gaston:
If I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for this monster.
Belle:
He's no monster, Gaston. You are!
Gaston:
She's as crazy as the old man.
She says this creature is her friend.
Well, I've hunted wild beasts and I've seen what they can do.
The Beast will make off with your children.
Crowd:
(gasp)
Gaston:
He'll come after them in the night.
Belle:
He will never!
Gaston:
Forget the old man, I say we kill the Beast!
Mob:
Kill him!
Man 1:
We're not safe until he's dead
Man 2:
He'll come stalking us at night
Woman:
Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite
Man 3:
He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free
Gaston:
So it's time to take some action, boys
It's time to follow me
Through the mist, through the woods
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride
Say a prayer, then we're there
At the drawbridge of a castle
And there's something truly terrible inside
It's a beast! He's got fangs
Razor sharp ones!
Massive paws, killer claws for the feast
Hear him roar! See him foam!
But we're not coming home 'til he's dead--
Good and dead!
Kill the Beast!
Belle:
I won't let you do this!
Gaston:
Try and stop us!
Belle:
Papa, this is all my fault. I have to go back and warn him.
Maurice:
I'm coming with you
Belle:
No!
Maurice:
I lost you once, I won't lose you again!
Belle:
Then we'd better hurry.
Gaston:
We'll rid the village of this Beast.
Who's with me?
Mob:
I am! I am! I am!
Mob:
Light your torch! Mount your horse!
Gaston:
Screw your courage to the sticking place!
Mob:
We're counting on Gaston to lead the way!
Women:
Through a mist, through a wood
Where within a haunted castle
Something's lurking that you don't see ev'ry day!
Mob:
It's a beast! One as tall as a mountain
We won't rest 'til he's good and deceased
Sally forth! Tally ho!
Grab your sword! Grab your bow!
Praise the Lord and here we go!
We don't like
What we don't understand
In fact it scares us
And this monster is mysterious at least
Bring your guns!
Bring your knives!
Save your children and your wives
We'll save our village and our lives
We'll kill the Beast!
Gaston:
Cut down a tree, and make it a big one!
Take whatever booty you can find.
But remember, the Beast is MINE!
Castleware:
Hearts ablaze
Banners high
We go marching into battle
Unafraid although the danger just increased
Mob:
Raise the flag!
Sing the song!
Here we come, we're fifty strong
And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong
Let's kill the Beast!
Kill the Beast!
Kill the Beast
Kill the Beast!"
