I thought I read this was gonna open up around April and I haven't heard anything recently. Anyone know the scoop?

Thanks!

It very well might open by then. Construction looks to be progressing fairly well, and they're working on landscaping. So that must be a good sign! :)

Thanks Tyler. Do you happen to know where I would find up to the minute news on this right before we leave (April 1st)? We usually go -
I-75
Florida Turnpike @ exit 328
US-27 @ exit 289
US-192

Think the new roadway will save us alot of time?

We took the new toll road this weekend. It's great!
It's a little further then I thought it would be past the Hwy 27 Clermont exit but once you're on it, it's pure heaven. The Hwy 192 exit is further South then the yet completed WDW exit, so when they open that it will be even quicker.

We're thinking of driving from DC to WDW (done it once before about two years ago). We would be taking I-95 down most of the way. Would this new "WDW" toll road be feasible for us? Btw, where does it start and where does it end?

tia :goodvibes ,
agnes!

Thanks Irish Wake. So do you think even though the WDW part is not open going on the new toll part that is open is still quicker than the way I'm used to going?

Thanks!

I don't know the way you usually go but it beat the Hwy 27 to 192 route. No lights like on 27 and you're only on 192 a couple miles.

I don't believe it will help you coming in from the East. It starts at the Fla Turnpike around Winter Haven NW of Orlando and ends at Hwy 192 about 2 miles from WDW.

Thanks Irish Wake. So we need to look for this new toll road right after we get on the Turnpike from I-75?

Do you remember the exit number or are there plenty of signs indicating this is the new road?

I would also be interested in any updates. We are driving from Louisiana for the first time since 1994. We flew on cheap Southwest $39 each way fares in 2004 and 2005...but, I'm doubting we will see these fares again this year.

We are heading over to Florida at the beginning of June. Where does this new road intersect with I-75....if it even does?

I did a map on Winter Haven, FL since Irish Wake mentioned this and it shows up as a town between Tampa and Orlando. Is this new road coming from the south up into Orlando?

Just want to make sure we take the quickest route possible to minimize driving and maximize the magic :wizard:

Turnpike connection is at Winter Garden, not Winter Haven.

We took the new toll road in January.

Take I-75 South, then get on the Turnpike. You are looking for 429South.

Currently, the bypass directly to Disney property is not open yet. Keep on 429 South until it dead ends into 192. Then take 192 to World Drive.

It is much nicer than US27. If you want to stop by a store, Publix is right at the intersection of 429 South and and 192. The tolls run about $4.50 total for both roads, but well worth it!!

Sorry, But No Information. When I Asked My Question About THE New Entrance And When It Would Be Open, She Said December 2006. Sr 429 Is Open From The Florida Turnpike To 192 NOW. What She Was Talking About Is The Final Leg From 192 To I-4. Finally Got Thru To Her That I Was Talking About The Western Entrance To WDW, Which She Said She Did Not Know About. Guess We'll Have To Rely On Tyler To Keep Us Posted. The Reason I'm So Late On This Post Is That I Had A Tooth Pulled Which Required Me To Be Put Under. Now I Don't Know How I'm Going To Be Able To Eat At The World. I Guess No Steaks, Probably Soups. Crab Cakes And Things That Are Easy To Chew Up. The Golden Years Are Not As Golden As You Might Think. Oh Well, I'm Going To Enjoy As Long As Possible.

Can someone give me exact directions off of 75 to the western WDW entrance! Thanks!

I-75 S

Get off at exit 328 (approximately 140 miles from Georgia/Florida State Line, approximately 107 miles from I-10)

Travel on Florida Turnpike to Exit 267A (429S) (approximately 42 miles)

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr near Coronado Springs.

Turn right if going to All-Stars or Animal Kingdom Lodge, turn left if going anywhere else, then follow the Disney signs to your destination.

Tolls on the main Turnpike will be $2.50 for a standard vehicle. ($5.00 if pulling a single axle trailer).

Tolls on 429S to Disney World will be just $1.00 ($1.50 if pulling a single axle trailer) as the Disney World Exit doesn't charge a toll.

(I based the mileage on the exit numbers as they coincide with mile markers).
