I am looking for a career change and have been thinking about becoming a nanny. I don't currently have a ton of experience. When I was a teenager I used to baby-sit quite frequently and was certified in CPR. I also took an early-childhood education class toward the end of high school while volunteering at a local elementry school.

Don't ask why I didn't get into education (I ask myself all the time!!). What would I need to do to get started as a nanny? I don't have any current references so it's making it difficult to start. TIA!!

Get re-cert in CPR, get your clearences (was 20 something for both of mine). Start asking around at churches and friends. Check out the family very well and make sure you have a contract when you go full time stating hours, pay and sick days, live in or out, car usuage, etc....

I suggest you start working a few hours part-time to see if it fits for you before you look for a full time job.

Good Luck!

Anything else just ask, I was a nanny for over 7 1/2 years (4 families) before my own family.
