Any moms go alone with their kids?

I take the kids by myself all the time hubby does not like Disney. I have friends down there so sometimes I take her kids and kid sister with me. I have had once 4 kids under 6 and a 14 year old with me in the parks. I think I am nuts! I took all 4 kids wiht no teenager or other adult to Seaworld.

WHen I take all of those kids I am very strict and they had all better listen or else. For the most part they are good.

I took my DDs then 2 1/2 and 5 1/2, along with my friend and her 5 and 8 year olds. So I did have another adult, BUT...

My little one had diahrrea from antibiotics for an ear infection (ear was better, but had to finish the dose), then DD5 got stomach flu. I was holding her in line at IHOP and she threw up down my back! EEWWW!!! Luckily this wasn't a park day. Then she got diahrrea and I made her fly home in a Pull-Up, I didn't know what else to do. I kept thinking, if it's time for take off and I can't take her...

Needleass to say, it was tough with all the tummy troubles, but we had a great time otherwise! But I do not think I'll try again on my own! LOL!

Wow!!! There are a lot. I do a lot alone with my son. My dh has been in the military and has been gone 2 out of the last 3 years. Thank god he is retiring!
This afternoon we are off to Sea World.

Many, many times! My DS's are 10 and 13 and I have been a single Mom since they were 2 and 5. We just took our 5th trip to WDW as the 3 of us. This year was also our 1st Disney Cruise which ROCKED!!!!!

It's a wonderful place to go solo with kids.

This is so good to hear! I am taking my four kids (alone) to WDW for the 1st time next summer! :woohoo: I can't wait to meet the mouse with my angels! :grouphug:

I just got back from a week trip with 3 kids, it was the best trip we have taken! we did what we wanted, how and when we wanted.
Granted two are teenagers so that was a big help with the 5yr old. princess:

All of my family looks at me like I'm crazy when I tell them I am taking my DD9 to WDW in September...just the two of us. I am married and have a DS13, but my husband and I thought it would be nice to take one "family" trip and one girl / guy trip this year. Next year we hope to do the same, only we will swap kids! This way, each of the children will have quality "alone" time with each parent. Sounds good in theory, anyway. We'll see how it goes.

When my girls get older (they are almost 6 and 3.5 now) I plan on taking them solo.... for now though, I can't even begin to imagine juggling their luggage as well as mine, the stroller, car seat, etc... by myself!!! LOL! As far as in the parks-sure-piece of cake! It's just the getting there and back that's a problem!! :rotfl: My DH will be relieved when he doesn't have to miss work to go to Disney :rotfl:

I'm taking my 3 yr. old DS in about 2 weeks - I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! My DW thinks I'm a little nuts....

i have 3 kids. 11&10&7. we go to disney 3 or 4 times a year without dad. they do great with just me. however i only stay on diney when i am alone .

During our august trips DH rarely comes out of the room so I *almost* am down there alone with the kids - now 7 & 11. I really enjoy it as we are used to being together a lot as I sah. I would love to take my dd and niece (altho she is not a kid at almost 39) down in the fall, but I have never done the airplane and all that without dh - I have to pay more attention when we go in august.

DD6 who also has an ASD and I go alone odd numbered years it's GREAT!! Even numbered years my mom tags along and we go to the beach and Disney...DD and I have been making the trek since her first birthday which was just 4 months after the divorce was final it felt like a huge accomplishment to be standing there in the MK on her 1st birthday....it was scary at first doing it all on my own especially with all the stuff you have to have with babies now I've got it down to a science and Disney makes it so easy..

Local, single Disney mom too! We were at MK Sunday, yesterday and going back this evening! It's nice that she is nine, and can go on some of the rides I don't care for by herself now! She knows the parks like she know our neighborhood. It's much easier as she gets older!!!

We also have Sea World & Busch Garden passes, and love those parks as well!

We just returned from a week at WDW. It was me, my DD11 and my DS8. It was great! Disney is a very family friendly place and I was never worried about us being out late at night or at our hotel. Everything felt very safe. The only real difficulty that I encountered was being able to stake out a parade or fireworks location and then go get a snack, drink or take a bathroom break. For example, Thursday night we had a spot all picked out for Spectro parade, and then the kids need a restroom break. The only option with just one parent was to lose the spot and go to the bathroom. If there had been two adults, one could take the kids to the bathroom while one stayed in the location. Same with snacks, once we were seated, I was not comfortable leaving them to go get drinks or ice cream. But other than that small snag, everything worked out great for us!!!

I'm taking my DD (5, but weeks from 6) at the end of this month. People use to look at me like I was crazy - we take one trip a year somewhere everyear - but they have gotten used to it. A couple of years ago we went on a search for snow during the Christmas holiday. We just drove until we found it. My parents were really nervous with there being no set destination, but it has been our favorite vacation so far. (I'm betting Disney tops it, but that one was a blast.)

Single Mom, 3 trips and 1 cruise so far - all just DS (6) and I. We have an awesome time... take things as they come, it's HIS trip so he sets the pace and the schedule so to speak. Now, however, with ADR's being so important I do a little suggesting to get us where we need to be for lunch/dinner! :thumbsup2

I am a single parent, and take my son for mommy and me trips, in order to bond before he gets to old he is now 9 and have been on several trips together, even just the local zoo. But it is good bonding time on a trip to Disney. :thumbsup2

I have taken my almost 3 year old ds many times. WE live in the Tampa area, and usually go 2 or 3 times a month. You will not catch me back in the parks until after Labor day, though. It is WAY to crowded for me right now.

Anyway, I love our day trips to Disney. Anytime we get on I-4 heading east, ds asks "Mommy we got to Mickey's house?" Not sure if that is good or bad. :)

We also have passes to Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, Sea World and our local aquarium, and usually it is just him and I, because dh is working.

Last January, I took my dd5 on a one week trip to WDW. Granted, I also took my mom along, however, at times it was sort of like have two children along, because they both tend to talk to me at the same time, asking me to do things for them, and/or asking questions! :hyper2:

I have no regrets about taking either of them.

But I will say that the one morning I tackled MGM/Dis Studios with my dd, just the two of us...despite the fact that I was a little nervous about keeping track of her by myself (she has ADHD), we had a blast together! :cheer2:
It was so nice and we enjoyed it so much, I would not hesitate to do it again.

In fact, we are planning another trip for this coming Dec/Jan, and I have already told Mom that she can feel free to sleep in and meet is in the parks any day she chooses. (She's not much of an early riser!) :surfweb:

The 1st trip solo w/my DD's was when DD now 6 was 2 and DD now 11 was 7.
It was for 3 days, (Every yr we go we have added a day) we have now made it a family tradition to go every yr in Sept. for my B'day. This is my B'day present to myself. :goodvibes The best present I can give myself is the time I can spend w/my girls and my favorite man Mickey Mouse, , Don't tell DH).
In all honesty I could bring DH but that's like bringing another child, "I'm hungry, I'm tired, Can we go swim." So that child I leave at home. For some reason he doesn't like Mickey, :confused3
I also live about 45 min. from DW, last yr was the 1st time I took a day tripw/ the girls alone. I enjoyed it and have gone back for day trips many times.

PS. Me and DH do celebrate my B'day together, he just does not want MM to join us. :confused3
