Does anyone know how many dis-ers are stuck in this blackout? I can't imagine being stuck without power for this long!

I would guess that until the power is restored, they can't tell us...

Power was up for N. Westchester county last night, thank god.

Apparently, there are pockets that still do not have power, and
there are wide areas within NYC that still do not have power
as of 7am Friday.

But fortunately, much of the greater NYC area is getting back
to normal today.

Hope everyone affected is staying cool, calm, and safe... :D

BriarRose - NY, SteveH - Cleveland area, Towncrier - Cleveland area...there are many more in the Cleveland area I just can't think at the moment.

I know Cleveland's downtown area is closed until at least 12:00 p.m. today. Cleveland is also having a horrible sewage problem. The water pumps were not working properly due to the outage. They are currently on a boil alert for the next 24 hours. Sewage has been dumping into Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River.

They Mayor of Cleveland was on Today this a.m. and was giving this information.

My thoughts are with everyone that has been effected by this outage.

I know I haven't heard from several in the Ohio/Michigan area. I know power went out as west as Toledo and as south as Delaware County in Ohio (some co-workers went w/o power for a while yesterday). I do know that as Jen said, Cleveland is a mess with the water problem as well. A friend told me her mom is totally w/o water right now. Having been one of the unfortunate ones who lost power for over 3 days last month due to storms, I feel for these people... at least I had good water to use. I did hear that most of the Southern part of the area of Ohio that was hit, has been restored. Hopefully they all can get it back soon... my thoughts are with them all.

I posted something last night during the blackout. I was able to get onto the internet through my dialup connection at work. We were one of those pockets in NE Ohio that never lost power. Our water pressure got extremely low last night, but other than that, we came through unscathed.

I wonder if EpcotKilterFan (Debbie) got any sleep last night. I'm sure that the Cleveland Red Cross was (and is) quite busy.

We were without power here in Lorain County for about 5 hours. We never lost water, but we're under a boil alert until noon.

My guess is if they're without power, they might know a DIS'er with a telephone and might want to update us.:)

Have they found out what caused the outage?

Our power went out at about 6:30 last night, it just came back on a few minutes ago.

We lost power for about 12 hours, 4:15pm-4:30am (Cleveland). Luckily, I never completely lost water.

CathyCanada was without power yesterday and I think she may still be without power today. :(

We only lost power for 20 or so minutes in Central Jersey BUT I was on Staten Island when this whole thing began.......finally got home at around 9:30 last night with my 2 DS (9 & 4)! Unfortunately, my DH has yet to arrive home from work SINCE YESTERDAY MORNING!!!!! It's now after noon!! He works downtown Manhattan (right next to Ground Zero). He decided it was safer to stay put than to try and venture home to Jersey......virtually impossible yesterday!!

The BEST thing that has come of this is he gets to start his vacation a little early!! We leave for the World late Monday night!!

Hope all is safe with all of you!! Pixie Dust to everyone!!

We were out of power for 4 1/2 hrs. Thursday. We also had no water because we have a well that is pumped with an electric pump. We are lucky we got the power back so soon thanks to the lineman(my FIL and BIL are lineman & were called in to work to restore power).

We had no power for about 12 hours yesterday. Of course here at work we have power but no A/C:eek:

Why are we here - it is 82 in the office.

Of course DH's office has no power - he is home in the A/C

:(

Hi, we just got our power back on at 12:45pm today. YIPPEE!

Here in Western NY, I've just been informed that we may experience another power outage.

There may be controlled blackouts, as part of the effort to get everyone back on line.

I was told to be prepared, so I'm just passing this on.

I've got Power! I've got power!
Yikes, that was a long and hot 22 hours. But I must say though, that we did play a lot of board games with the kids and had fun. We have a fire pit on our patio and roasted marshmallows last night with all the neighbors, so I guess it wasn't all that bad.
